BRAWL IN THE FAMILY, AMIE SCRUBS UP, MO'S LOVE MATCH

Tony Jaa and his family
Martial arts hero Tony Jaa and his family have filed complaints with police after their latest attempt at a reconciliation meeting ended in failure.

Jaa's wife, Piyarat ''Boong-gi'' Chotiwattananont, last week filed a complaint with Pathum Thani police, complaining that Jaa's family turned up with security guards carrying guns.

Meanwhile, Jaa's father and his family have gone to Ayutthaya police, saying they were worried Jaa is being controlled by a hostile third party.

Jaa's father, who suffers from high blood pressure, has pleaded publicly for Jaa to return to the family home in Surin.

After failing to persuade Jaa to make the trip, last week he and his family travelled to Ayutthaya, where they were told Jaa is making a movie.

Father Thongdee Panom and his wife, accompanied by Jaa's elder sister and elder brother, agreed to meet Jaa outside Ayutthaya's ancient temple Wat Panancherng, but the encounter did not go well.

Jaa's manager, Thipkanya ''Pla'' Surawithayanon, spoke to them in the family van first. Jaa joined them later, but was there just five minutes before a fight broke out.

Pla said she was waiting outside the van along with five or six members of Jaa's production team when she noticed the van start to shudder and shake.

''I raced to the van and opened the door to find Jaa's father assaulting him. I called out to the rest of the team and together we managed to get him away,'' she said.

''Jaa's father followed him out of the van, punching and kicking.

''I managed to avoid him, but ran into Jaa's sister and mother instead. I can confirm that Jaa's father is not as frail as we've been told.''

Mr Thongdee has admitted lashing out at Jaa with his foot, but says he was merely adopting a muay Thai stance which both had practised together in years past.

''He tried to hug me, but I was angry, so I kicked him away,'' Mr Thongdee said on television, displaying the nimble foot moves he had taught his son.

He denied trying to assault Jaa. The star's elder sister, Hatta, said her father was merely reprimanding him for his failure to make contact.

''He didn't intend to cause him harm, merely teach him a lesson. Jaa was mocking him, so dad went into play-fighting mode the way they used to do at home,'' she said.

''He kept us waiting in the van for four hours, and my father was stressed.''

Mr Thongdee said he blames Jaa's wife and her family for the misunderstanding, because the ''real'' Jaa knows better than to disrespect his parents.

''The Tony Jaa I know cares for his family and shows gratitude,'' he said.

''We haven't sat down with each other for a decent chat since he was married more than six months ago.

''If he still regards himself as my son, he'll come back. If not, we'll each go our separate ways. This is the last time I come out looking for him,'' he warned.

Jaa's sister denied the family turned up with armed guards, and insisted her father was unwell and in need of his son's support.

''Dad tied sacred strings to his ankles, and without warning started dancing like an elephant. He turned into an animal, so of course we are worried,'' she said.

Jaa's mother, Rin, denied money was behind the family's desire to see him. ''Money is no problem. Everyone can fend for himself, just as farmers in the provinces do,'' she said.

Mrs Rin said she would almost rather her son hadn't entered show business, if this is how he has turned out.

''I would almost rather he was still on the farm. Before, he was humble and showed respect. Now it's as if something has possessed him,'' she said.

Jaa has declined to comment on the latest row. -

Annie
Thais are unimpressed with sexy model Omsawan ''Amie'' Sirikittirat's attempts to make merit at a temple.

Amie last week published pictures of herself cleaning a toilet and tidying the grounds of Wat Phleng in Nonthaburi.

Annie, Howard
She visited the temple earlier this month for the ordination ceremony of her former boyfriend, Taiwanese tearaway Howard Wang.

While she was there, she also decided to perform some good works and share the benefit with her Facebook followers.

''I'd like to give the merit [I earned from doing these good works] to my fans, family, friends, fate and destiny, animals which have yet to find a home, ghosts without family, those suffering, those who are happy. For those who think bad thoughts, or want to malign me through speech, I forgive you,'' she wrote.

Media outlets ran pictures of Amie holding a plastic bucket in one hand and a toilet brush in another, scrubbing the toilet floor.

Amie, who has admitted appearing in erotic B-grade movies to make ends meet, is often criticised for seeking publicity. Few members of the online community appear impressed with her merit-making efforts.

''I clean the toilet every day, but you have to take a picture and make a big deal out of it!'' one sniffed.

''Don't make merit on my behalf. If it's someone else, OK. But not from you!'' another wrote.

''Be careful the monks don't see you in that provocative pose, with your head down and bottom up, or they may want to pursue earthly pleasures outside the monkhood!'' said another.

One admirer advised her against merit for others, if all they do is criticise. ''Do it for your own happiness and prosperity. Don't make merit for those who would never think of picking up a toilet brush themselves. They're not worth it!'' she wrote. -

Kat, Mo
Actress Ameena ''Mo'' Pinij is saying little about her supposed marriage to a tomboy, Jirachaya ''Kat'' Kongnimit.

Mo posted pictures on her Facebook page of the couple attending a wedding in Hua Hin. Mo appears wearing a bridal dress, and Kat a suit.

The couple have known each other eight years. Mo said it is mainly an affair of the heart, as she doesn't want to be bothered by relations in bed.

''I would rather you regard it as an anniversary celebration than a wedding,'' she said last week, when asked about the pictures.

Earlier reports quoted Mo as saying she was merely trying on the wedding dress at someone else's function, but now she admits it was more than that.

Mo said she was attending an event in the seaside resort held by an industry elder. However, she also took advantage of the occasion to make it her own day.

''Kat and I care for each other. I've never tried to hide it, and both our families accept us being together,'' the Channel 7 actress said.

''If you were to have me say we were wed, I would have to consider the feelings of our families as well,'' she said.

She and Kat met at university. ''She's everything I need in a friend, and keeps her cool,'' she said.

Mo announced in March that she had stopped seeing businessman Nattapol ''Potty'' Issarangkul Na Ayutthaya after a six-month romance, saying neither was willing to bend enough to the other's needs.

''He tried to limit my freedom. In his world, there was just the two of us. But I need to see friends and family and be part of society as well,'' she said.

''I told him I had started seeing Kat. He asked if he could pair up with someone like her, and the two of us stay together, but I said it was too late.''

Mo insisted she had not changed her sexual preferences. Nor was she seeing Kat merely on the rebound.

''We don't have to see each other romantically. Nor is there anything which says I have to marry a man. I still live with my family, and am happy.

''I am not a lesbian, but a real woman. But I have done nothing wrong in having a tomboy look after me,'' she said.
