Tanya, Peck |
Tanya took her husband, businessman Peck Sanchai, before the media last week to explain himself after she intercepted a text message of greeting from his former love, Pinky Chaiyadej.
The ''I miss you, na'' message was intended for Peck, but Tanya found it on his phone recently while the couple celebrated their young daughter Leeya's birthday.
Talking to the media, Peck admitted he was still in contact with Pinky, though insists it was merely through SMS messages.
He said he was sending messages to Pinky up to once a month, but that they had not met since news of their affair came to light.
"When I see her in the news, sometimes I think of her and might send her a message of greeting as someone that I know. That's natural between friends. However, we are not lovers,'' he told reporters.
"If I see her in the future, I might have to say hello, and I might even send a text message greeting her again. That's all perfectly normal,'' he insisted.
"I want to assure the public and my wife that I am fully committed to getting our marriage back on track,'' he said, referring to their near divorce when news of his fling went public.
After finding out about Peck's affair, Tanya threatened to take her husband and a "third hand'' (Pinky) to court. The couple separated, with Tanya taking their daughter to live with family in the US.
Faced with criticism for her part in the scandal, Pinky temporarily withdrew from the Thai entertainment industry, and went to Finland to learn dancing.
When asked by reporters if he would rule out sending any more texts, or change his number, Peck responded angrily.
"There's no need to change it and you don't need to ask. I've told you the lot now; there's no need to prod and poke. Everyone knows very well what the score is.
"At the moment, I am doing everything for my family. Our daughter Leeya is my main priority,'' he said.
Tanya said the couple was still grappling with the aftermath of Peck's affair when Pinky's message turned up. "When I first saw the SMS, I thought I should divorce Peck after all. But with the passing of time, I have cooled down. I am trying hard to understand,'' she said.
News of the text message came to light with the release two weeks ago of a sound recording, which Tanya now admits she made herself, in which Tanya called Pinky's mother.
Tanya says she merely intended to alert Pnky's mother Sarinya that her daughter was still in contact with her husband, even though the two had supposedly called off their attachment many months ago. Pinky's mother responded angrily, so she started recording their conversation.
She admits sharing the clip with her husband and her friends, but says she does not know how it found its way into the public domain. Peck admits sending a copy to his friends too and even sharing it with his colleagues at work.
In the clip, Mrs Sarinya exchanges harsh words with Tanya and tells her to keep her husband away from her daughter.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Pinky apologised for causing anyone distress. The message was a one-off, which she sent in response to a message which Peck had sent her.
"I rarely use the number any more. I opened the phone, and found the message there, so responded out of politeness,'' she said. -

Teen actor Jirayu "Kao'' La-ongmanee says he is still a virgin, but
doesn't carry around condoms at all times as his mother once advised.
Kao, 16, apologised for remarks he made in a televised interview this month which he says may have come across as too lustful.
On the Woody Kert Ma Kui show, Kao told host Woody Milintachinda that he had been a long-time fan of Japanese porn star Miyabi Maria Ozawa, who was interviewed on Woody's programme recently.
He also confessed that he liked to watch porn and that he wasn't quite
a virgin any more.
"You should have called me when you interviewed Miyabi,''' he joked with Woody.
"It could have been the `Woody and Kao Kert Ma Kui show'. I have followed her movies since I was 11 or 12. She has raised me for that long,'' he said.
Speaking to the Manager/ASTV newspaper last week, Kao said his family was happy with the overall tone of the Woody interview, in which the two visit the Siam shopping centre together and share scenes with Kao's mother and manager, Koi. "It portrayed me as I really am,'' he said.
However, he is asking viewers to take his remarks about his virginity with a grain of salt.
"I don't want to make anyone look bad. I want to be as direct and truthful as possible, but there might be some things I cannot say,'' he said.
"There might be one day where I have had it, but I say I haven't, or decline to answer.''
Kao told Woody he has yet to have sex, but is not completely inexperienced where women are concerned.
He has gone out with two girlfriends - one who lasted a year, and the other, his first date, just one day.
"We went out to see a movie, but because I had never gone to the movies with anyone but my mother before, I didn't know how to buy a ticket. The girl had to buy it for me,'' he said, adding he was just 13 at the time.
His relationship with his second girlfriend, he said, was so serious they contemplated getting married, and even coined a name for their first child.
Since then he has not felt the desire to have a girlfriend, and to this day remains single.
"For someone to have gone out with two girls at my age is almost too many,'' he said.
Asked by Woody whether he was keeping his virginity for marriage, Kao said that if he was to have sex, it would have to be an important occasion - that, or she would have to be a one-night stand.
"But if it's only half way there - if the woman loves me, but I love her only 50% - then I would say it's better not to have sex, because I don't want to hurt anybody,'' he said.
Kao's mother Koi was quoted as saying last year that she urges her son to carry a condom at all times, just in case temptation strikes.
In a later interview, Koi said she was misinterpreted. All she meant was to urge her son to be responsible.
She was not encouraging him to have sex more often, as some critics assumed, as he was only 15 at the time, which is below the legal age for sex.
Kao said he no longer carries a condom, as his life consists of little more than going to school, playing sports, and going home again.
"However, when I go to university I might have to start carrying one again for protection, as I am likely to go out more often, and the risk of something happening will increase,'' he said. -

Model and veejay Daran Chawanrath is urging a famed photographer to
man up and explain why he posted semi-naked pictures of her on his Instagram
site without permission.
Daran has laid a complaint with Crime Suppression Police after she said Teerapong "Bee'' Leowrakwong published pictures he had taken of her for a men's magazine without telling her. She says his actions damaged her reputation.
Daran, also a DJ at 94.5FM, said Bee hired her to pose for a cover shoot in Playboy magazine but then failed to pay her. "He contacted me in May, asking me to travel to Suan Phung district of Ratchaburi for the shoot.
"When the shoot was finished, he told me he had forgotten to bring my payment and in any event wanted to see the results of my work first.
"Later, Bee contacted me to say he could not publish the pictures in Playboy after all as I was not well-known enough.
"At the time I did not think much of it, until a member of my fan
club early this month sent me pictures of me which Bee had posted at his
Instagram site.
"They come from the same set of pictures that he took for Playboy and he posted them online without telling me. When I asked him to remove them, he did nothing,'' she said, saying she was worried Bee or a third party could make commercial use of the images.
Daran has now laid a police complaint of defamation against the photographer.
"I'd like him to be a man and speak the truth. He claims the Playboy shoot left him out of pocket by 100,000 baht, but that can't be true, as the magazine paid his expenses.
"I am not seeking payment, just recovery of my pride and dignity,'' she said.
She and Bee had worked two times previously, but this was the first time she had taken off so much clothing.
"Manners dictate that he should have asked first, as I am a model, and the pictures are so revealing they show my nipples.
"I have to work in the industry. If someone else saw the pictures, what would they think?'' she asked.
Bee has made no comment since she laid her complaint. Police say they are likely to call him in for questioning.
