Body on the lawn mystery, conscript battle, hold the pork

Hmmm...how did he get there?

Yord

A Nakhon Si Thammarat woman denies she was complicit in the killing of her boyfriend, despite a lingering dispute over a pickup which he took in to be pawned.

Wanwisa “Fon” Jedeerat, 28, came under attack by netizens after she admitted concealing her role in the murder of Anucha “Yord” Plodorn, 40, from Tha Sala district, on the front lawn of her home in Nasai, Muang district on Nov 4.

He was stabbed to death by Fon’s old boyfriend, Somsak “King” Yingpradit, 33, who started to argue with Yord when he came upon him at Fon’s house.

King
Ms Fon initially claimed she found his body after returning from visiting her sister-in-law, “Noi”, who lives about 100m away. Netizens were immediately sceptical, asking how she did not hear the attack.

Media outlets ran CCTV footage of King taking Ms Fon to a convenience store moments before. King is seen taking her back to her Noi’s place and leaving the scene a few minutes later.

He admitted the next day to have doubled back via a rear entrance to the property and coming across Yord, sitting under her house. It was the first time both men had met, though King denies they were rivals for her affection.

“I didn’t do it out of jealousy, as I had quit seeing Fon, and had no plan to start again. Now we were just friends. I knew Fon was seeing Yord but did not interfere. I had tried to avoid him because I didn’t want any problems. Fon was not involved in his death,” he told police after his arrest.

King claims he started arguing with Yord over his role in pawning her pickup, which had caused Ms Fon distress.

He said he killed Yord with a small knife kept in a bag hanging in Ms Fon’s kitchen. He said he went to fetch it after Yord attacked him with a motorcycle helmet. After the two started fighting, he said he called Ms Fon, told her about the row, and asked her to come to her house urgently.

Fon
He admitted following Yord onto the roadside after their initial argument. When Yord hit him again with the helmet, he retaliated by stabbing him with the knife.

King immediately fell under suspicion for the murder, as he is Ms Fon’s ex-partner and has also served jail time for drugs. A day later, as Ms Fon herself came under suspicion for being complicit, he admitted to the killing.

The same day as King came clean, Ms Fon amended her own claims, admitting she saw the attack on the roadside by her house as she ran back from Noi’s place, and tried to stop the men fighting.

She saw Yord hit King with the motorcycle, and King striking him back.

She said Yord staggered away and collapsed on the lawn. King fled on his motorcycle, and threw the knife into a canal.

“I was scared as someone had died at my place, so I claimed initially that I did not see it. I did not lure him to his death,” she told reporters. “If that was true I wouldn’t have Yord come to my own home where I was immediately regarded as a suspect.

“King was acting out of sympathy for me, not jealousy.”

She agreed she had been at odds with Yord after he quietly pawned her pickup for 130,000 baht about a month ago while she was sick with Covid-19. She had bought the vehicle with a 70,000 baht deposit and was paying it off at 11,000 baht a month. “I did not use his money, despite what his family says.”

Yord’s elder sister, Suphattra Plodorn, 42, said he dropped into her place about 6pm to repair a motorcycle and was called away by Ms Fon about 7.45pm. She heard from relatives about 9pm that he had been killed.

She said Yord had been seeing Ms Fon for 5-6 months when they bought a pickup together. She claims Yord put down the down payment, and they helped each other pay it off. About a month ago, a friend of Yord’s, also called King, tricked him into taking the vehicle to be pawned. This upset Ms Fon, who blamed Yord and demanded he return the vehicle.

“I don’t believe King did it alone. Fon must be involved, as she was always calling him, and hid the truth from the outset,” she told reporters.

King’s mother, Supaporn Yingpradit, 59, said her son and Ms Fon were together about a year before he was sent to jail on drugs charges for 5-6 months. He was released two months ago, after which, she claimed, he went back to seeing Ms Fon. Police charged King with intentional killing and having a weapon in a public place. Ms Fon has not been charged.

He can’t let her go
Bank

A conscript soldier who fell for a woman with a past was killed by her ex-husband in a fit of jealousy.

Pvt Jakkraphat “Armin” Kitnet, 23, was arrested for killing Pvt Wutthichai “Bank” Kongphom, 22, outside a convenience store in Koh Lanta Yai, Krabi, on Nov 1.

The killing occurred on Ban Klong Nin Road about 11pm when Pvt Armin saw Pvt Bank going past on a motorbike and blocked his path. He attacked him with a bamboo rod and a knife.

Pvt Bank, who hails from Ron Phibun in Nakhon Si Thammarat, was a conscript soldier serving at Somdet Phra Suriyothai Military Camp in Pattani. He had dropped into Koh Lanta to see his girlfriend, Kesinee Chuaykan, 24, with whom Pvt Armin has three young children by a prior failed relationship.

Armin
Pvt Armin himself recently wrapped up service as a conscript at the camp, with one news report even describing them as one-time friends.

Pvt Armin, his family says, was unhappy after Pvt Bank started seeing Ms Kesinee. He told his family that Pvt Bank, a jealous type, had also barred access to his children.

Called to the scene, Krabi police found the knife and its sheath. About 1km away, they also found the victim’s body and his overturned bike.

Ms Kesinee, who had been following Pvt Bank on a motorcycle, saw the fight unfold and urged her boyfriend to flee back to her place. However, he succumbed to his chest injuries before he could get there.

In Tha Sala district, Yoh Pohdia, 65, the killer’s grandmother, said Pvt Armin was married to Ms Kesinee for five years, and they have three children, aged four, two, and 12 months.

Pvt Armin and his wife were contract workers in Koh Lanta until two years ago when Pvt Armin was called up for service in Pattani. Five or six months ago she heard that he had quit with Ms Kesinee. Two months ago he was released from the military, and returned to the island but had also found a new girlfriend, she said.

Kesinee
On Nov 2, he called to say that he had killed Pvt Bank, because he taunted him and wouldn’t let him meet his children, who live with Ms Kesinee. “He is a good lad, and I didn’t think he’d be game to do such a thing,” she said.

On Nov 4, police said they had caught Pvt Armin at a hotel in Bo Thong, Pattani, where he fled after the killing.

Siriporn Suprit, 53, mother of the victim, said her son had been seeing Ms Kesinee for about 6-7 months. They met on social media.
On Oct 29 he called to say he was on a 10-day break, and would go to visit Ms Kesinee in Krabi before coming to see her on Nov 2.

“My son loved Kesinee and had been to the island three times to visit. He also loved her kids as if they were his own.”

Talking to police, Pvt Armin said he tried to make things up with Ms Kesinee but she spurned his efforts, which angered him towards the victim.

Handy with a kitchen knife

A Buri Ram man who stabbed himself in a fit of pique after his wife turned down the chance to sample his drunken cooking is on the mend, his doctors say.

On Nov 4, Charoon “Keng” Chakthaisong, 27, from Phutthaisong district, stabbed himself in the chest three times using a kitchen knife.
Keng
He harmed himself to show his displeasure after he offered to fry up some pork for his wife, who spurned his offer, leading to heated words.

Mr Keng, who seldom drinks, had been out with friends and returned in a merry state, media reports say. “After getting drunk he decided he wanted to show off his love for his wife,” one report said. Unfortunately, Wanida Laipayak, 25, his wife, was having none of it, as she had gone to bed with a headache.

His mother-in-law, Pan Laipayak, 56, said Mr Keng came back home clutching a bag of pork. “Keng said he wanted to make a family meal for everyone, but I said everyone had eaten and not to bother.”

He looked unhappy, but she went back to her place before she heard Mr Keng crying out in a mix of pain and rage about 10 minutes later. “I went back for a look and saw him stabbing himself. When the edge of the knife buckled after striking a bag nearby, he started stabbing himself with a second knife. I called out to my husband for help,” she said.

Rescue workers took him to hospital, where he underwent an operation and was declared safe by doctors.

Ms Wanida, his wife, said she had gone to bed when Mr Keng came home and whispered in her ear, “I will make us a delicious meal of fried pork...I also have some soy milk, my love.”

She told him about her headache and said she wasn’t hungry, but he kept pestering her until she shouted at him: “I am not eating!”

He shouted back, and hurt by her response, walked to the kitchen and started stabbing himself. Media reports said he was a moody type and easily put out. However, the booze didn’t help.

Ms Wanida’s father, Chumpol Laipayak, 58, said he would have to keep a closer eye on the family. The couple also have a child, aged 12 months. “My daughter said she felt bad as she should have spoken more civilly. Meanwhile, Keng has vowed to give up alcohol, as we do not want a repeat,” he said.
