Ex-lover keeps no secrets
The older woman with whom likay performer Mit Mitchai had a secret
relationship has come out fighting in their dispute after he denied
owing her and a group of investor friends 35 million baht.Mit, 21, the younger brother of famous likay singer Chaiya A Mitchai, reported to Khu Khot police in Pathum Thani last week to deny charges of fraud and deception laid by his estranged former partner the month before.
Ranchida ‘‘Pui’’ Sithadechanon, 43, who runs an oil lubricant business, laid the police complaint against Mit on Aug 31.
She says she started out as a member of his fan club, progressed to "sponsor", and finally entered into a relationship with him.
Mit agrees the pair were seeing each other, though kept it quiet for the sake of his career.
He admits accepting her help financially, though never on the scale she claimed. They bought a house together, though they fell out before they moved in together.
Speaking to Pathum Thani police, Mit denied the fraud charges, as he did in a similar case in Bangkok earlier this month when one of the investors allegedly deceived in Mit’s scheme to raise money for his likay business ventures laid a complaint.
Pol Col Pachapon Rodpothong, of the Royal Thai Police, laid a defamation complaint with the Crime Suppression Division, days after a visit by Mit, who said the policeman forced him to sign a document claiming he owes him and other creditors 35 million baht.
Explaining their connection, Pui said Pol Col Rodpothong is among creditors she contacted on Mit’s behalf after he asked her to help finance his business ventures, including a plan to set up a family likay troupe, 25 million baht to broadcast likay shows on TV and 10 million baht for a music video.
She said Mit signed the document at a city eatery in the presence of creditors and a lawyer.
Denying he owes the money, Mit said the policeman forced him to sign the document out of anger when he discovered he was seeing Pui, with whom he had also formed romantic ties.
Pol Col Rodpothong, who took his wife along when he laid his CSD complaint, denied it.
Mit said the likay TV venture was his manager’s idea, and he knew little about it. He also denied seeking money to make a music video, saying Pui was keen on him making an album, but he was busy with studies.
The likay star’s lawyer, Tawicha Wangporka, said Pathum Thani police had invited Mit back on Wednesday. He said Mit’s bank statements show that he never received transfers on the scale claimed by Pui.
"Anyone who saw the statements would know what kind of relationship they were in. She was an older woman helping a younger man. He’s just 21 and still studying," he said.
Mit said Pui bought from him a four-rai section of land in Suphan Buri on Sept 4, worth four million baht, but she had yet to pay for it. Pui said the land was worth only 700,000 baht and was transferred as security for the funds she was raising on his behalf.
She also presented to police an excerpt from a Line chat in which Mit discusses a cash advance for the TV venture.
"You can stop playing likay in real life now, Mit," she said. "Soon the public will know the truth." She usually transferred to him cash of no more than 500,000 baht at a time.
She added if he is prepared to pay back the money he owes, she will call it quits and withdraw the complaint, as the two no longer have any feeling for each other. -
2. Beauty queen stripped of titles
Police are tracking down customers of an alleged Singaporean drug dealer arrested with a model in Bangkok last week.Model Gaysorn "Look Sorn" Limmahasamut has been stripped of her Miss Maxim titles after being arrested for possession of illicit drugs with intent to supply.
Look Sorn, 24, second runner-up in the Miss Maxim modelling contest this year, was caught with her Singaporean boyfriend at a Huay Kwang condo allegedly in possession of six grammes of methamphetamines.
Patrol and Special Operation Division police, who conducted the raid, said they had received complaints of regular drug parties at the condo.
Sutthisan police, who have taken over the probe, say the pair admitted the charges.
Look Sorn said she had been taking ice for about two months as she was stressed with family matters.
Quoting police, media reports said her boyfriend, Jonathan Low You Ting, 26, who supplies models to the industry, has been caught previously for selling drugs, which he obtains from China.
"When he came to Thailand he intended combining the two, but after his earlier drug problem found work in the modelling industry dried up, so turned to dealing in drugs like before," said Naew Na newspaper.
His customers include some prominent names.
Police say they are combing through his bank accounts looking for customers.
Look Sorn apologised to her family and fans for letting them down, and urged young people to stay away from drugs.
Miss Maxim contest organisers released a brief statement saying they had stripped the model of her titles.
After initially agreeing to a police request to detain the pair, the Ratchada Criminal Court on Friday released the accused on bail of 500,000 baht each, after relatives came forward to post the surety. -
3. Long and the short of them
Actress Sakaojai "Aom" Poonsawat insists her legs are all her own, despite claims she has used an app to exaggerate their length.
"App? I don’t know of any such app," she says in a video clip made with the help of a kathoey friend, posted on social media in response to critics’ claims that her legs look unnaturally long. "I have a tiny body, so I am all legs and boobs … get it?" she says.
In one video, she and her kathoey friend thrust her legs in front of the camera, ballet dancer style, to insist there is no computer trickery going on. In another, she enlists the help of a young male friend to admire her body.
"All legs and boobs?" he says admiringly, as he bounces into the frame.
"You’re going on too much," she retorts.
Aom attracted criticism after posting shots of herself on Instagram, striking various poses in swimwear and wearing high-heel shoes, as if to accentuate the taper of her legs, which already look bizarrely long.
After posting the clips issuing yet another denial, she says the next step is to block social media critics who refuse to keep their peace.
