Sexy line chat, too much to see, Hong Kong intrigue

Due backs up her boyfriend

Janila, Due, Pai
Actress Arisara "Due" Tongborisud is brushing off signs her boyfriend, a former politician, is straying, after a leaked chat emerged in which he appeared to be chatting up a Chiang Mai socialite's girlfriend.

The entertaining Line exchange, between Pai "One Point" Lik, a former Pheu Thai MP under the Yingluck Shinawatra government, and actress Pariya "Janila" Saenmuang, shows Pai pursuing the young woman doggedly, despite her warning him that she is taken.

It also suggests Pai would send a henchman around to threaten Janila's boyfriend, socialite businessman Jirat "Champ" Petnunthawong.

While Pai later came out to insist the Line chat was bogus, he admitted knowing Janila, also known as Janie, and apologised to Due and her family. "I cannot claim I am not involved," he said. "I am sorry and saddened this saga has arisen."

Later in the week, he tried to make up to Due by taking her out shopping for a brand-name bag, and a fancy restaurant meal.

Due said Pai had told her before the news broke about the Janie saga. "I am not surprised, and our status remains the same," she said, referring to Pai. "I place a higher priority on work and family than I do on my personal life."

The Line chat was followed by another in which the Janie character appears to be warming to Pai's advances, and talked about ditching her boyfriend.

The leaked chat drew a quick response from Champ, who sent a message of encouragement to Janie. "No matter what happens, I'm always on your side. Don't get stressed about it," he wrote.

Janie thanked him, referring to Champ as "my love", though her manager later told reporters she was stressed over the incident.

More sensationally, the saga also brought a response from Champ's ex-lover, "Tayya", who sent a cryptic message to her friend, actress and director Panita "Ning" Tumwattana, who has bad blood with Champ's younger sister, Namwan Petnunthawong.

"What a turnaround! Everything’s collapsing, history is repeating itself!" she wrote.

"Did he come looking for you, or did you lead him on?" she said, referring to the couple in the leaked chat.

Tayya also mocked One Point’s remark that "the truth never dies", and referred cheerily to fate and retribution catching up with those who do ill.

Ning and Namwan have bad blood stemming from a transgression by Ning's husband, Jin Tumwattana, who in 2013 admitted having an affair with Namwan.

The two women met by chance at a Thong Lor restaurant later that year and came to blows.

Ning, who stuck with her husband, took Namwan and her mother to court for defamation over the eatery clash, and won.

Tayya drew parralels between Namwan pursuing Ning's husband, and Janie supposedly going after One Point at Drew's expense.

While Ning responded humorously to the comments, she admitted later she didn't know about the Line saga suggesting Champ's girlfriend was being unfaithful, and thought she was just bantering innocently with her friend. She denied trying to have a dig at Champ's family or Janie.

Due, meanwhile, who is close to Tayya, added darkly that she was a believer in retribution herself, though didn’t say what fate she hopes awaits her errant love interest One Point.

One Point was in the news last month when former politician Wan Yubamrung dressed down a youngster associated with One Point's "gang", after the young man threatened his teen idol son. -

2. Duct tape doesn't cut it for June

June
Model Varanrada "June Maxim" Kaewmeesee is trying to live down images of her parading a black see-through outfit with duct tape over her private parts, which critics said showed off too much flesh in a "low-class" way.

June, the runner-up in the 2013 Miss Maxim modelling contest, said she suffered a loss of self confidence when publicity of the pictures emerged at last month's Siam Dara awards.

She strode the red carpet in a black see-through garment with silver tape plastered over her private parts.

Critics said the outfit was indecent and fell below the standard expected for such an occasion. June reacted angrily to the low-class tag, asking critics how they judged such things. "The concept belongs to the designer. I was merely modelling the outfit he asked me to wear," she said.

Designer Narongwit "Pong" Thongneht, of design label Zibeth Thailand, came up with the idea, though June said originally she was supposed to be adorned with ribbon, not tape.

"Model Metinee 'Lukkade' Kingpayom is the exemplar, and has worn this design before. The concept was to wear see-through with ribbons tied over my inside parts. That was the plan, but when the day came the designer came out with duct tape instead," she said.

"These days you can get ribbon with glue to ensure it does not slip, so I could have worn it on the red carpet. We had many fittings, but when they came out with the tape at the last minute it was too late to make a change," she said.

After suffering a dent to her confidence in the wake of the tape furore, June is now focusing on the less sexy side of her work. She appears in a soap opera now airing, and has two film roles coming up.

Her director in the soap, Nattee "Nueng April" Pattsaweedilokpat, has also asked her to promote a diet supplement, in which June, in a retort to the critics, will get to show off the ribbon concept.

"I want people to know I would rather wear ribbons than duct tape," she joked. "It's a concept that shows off the figure, chest, waist, hips, and I would like to thank Neung for giving me the opportunity," she added. -

3. Name denies 'rendezvous' with Kitty

Name, Kitty
Getsunova lead singer Prakarn "Name" Raiva admits he took a flight to Hong Kong to join a young model who had been seeing a singer friend of his, but denies there is anything more to it.

Name went before the media last week after earlier dodging reporters at a city function. They had gathered to ask about leaked pictures from Hong Kong which showed him walking hand-in-hand with actress and model, Chicha "Kitty" Amattayakul on a shopping trip.

The singer admits he took a flight to Hong Kong when he heard Kitty was staying there, but denies they met for a secret lovers' rendezvous. "We are just senior and junior; close, but that's it," he told reporters.

"I was free of my commitments to soap operas and concerts, and when I found she had gone there, I followed," he said.

Name denies acting as a sly third hand, breaking up Kitty's relationship with singer Nawin "Navin Tar" Yaowapholkul, a close neighbour and friend of his. "P'Tar and I are mates. No one is feeling put out with the other," he said.

Talking about his troubled relationship with Kitty in a recent interview, Tar said he tried to keep it going, to no avail. The couple parted about six weeks ago.

He denied his friend Name had tried to force them apart.

"I saw the Hong Kong picture at the same time as everyone else. I won't speak about my feelings, just the facts. We were seeing each other but are now friends," Tar said.

"I am getting over it day by day. I can't say if she acted too fast in finding someone else," he said.

Name and Kitty drew close after he invited Kitty to star in an MV for the band’s first album, though they knew each other before.

Before the photos emerged of them shopping in Hong Kong, Name admitted Navin Tar had called him to ask about news he was seeing Kitty.

"If our status changes, I will let everyone know, but for the time being Kitty and I would like the public to respect our privacy," he said.
