Sek ‘has enough a girlfriends’
The former wife of troubled rocker Sek Loso declares she has
forgiven the man she once ousted as a hard drugs user and wife abuser.Wiphakorn “Kan” Sukpimai’s dramatic about-face comes after the pair reunited with their three children for a restaurant meal, their first family meeting in a year, prompting critics to ask if she is enthusing about Sek merely for the sake of the children.
Both Kan and Sek have published on Facebook pictures from the restaurant outing, though Sek, who looks stony-faced in an accompanying video, has little to say about the reunion.
Kan, however, was taken by the reaction of the couple’s youngest child, London, who asked innocently if her mum and dad had put their long-running dispute behind them.
“We surprised London. She didn’t know [about the reunion at the restaurant]. When her dad turned up, her face lit up in amazement. She asked: ‘Have you made up again?’ “, Kan wrote.
“She added: ‘So what happens now?’ Kids, eh, kids!”
She added: “We are still the same mum and dad that we were before. We will offer love, warmth and advice as parents should. We will do as well as we can for you, Sua, Kwang and London!
“While the bonds of love between husband and wife might falter, we are still have mutual ties through you kids. After almost two years of seeing you looking morose, we would like to see you happy for a change.
“The past is now gone. Let it go. We should not dwell on things that cause us misery or sadness. I understand, and have forgiven him for ages now.”
Signs of a thawing in their relationship first emerged at the Siam Dara awards in Bangkok last month, when Sek took his former wife and their eldest child, Sua, before the media.
Kan said it was the first time she and Sek had spoken since signing their divorce agreement a year ago.
“We are friends now, as we have to help each other take care of the kids,” she said, adding Sek had also invited her to join his music company. Kan has branched into the entertainment business with her own recording label since leaving Sek.
Sek said he had no problem talking to Kan about their court cases or maintenance payments, as such battles only waste time. However, he did not think they would reunite as a couple again.
A month before, Sek met Kan and Sua at the Nine Entertainment Awards. Kan wrote on Facebook, “We’re getting ready to go home”, but Sek quickly hosed down rumours they would reunite. He said he met the pair by chance.
“I have my girlfriends, and enjoy the single life. I am out of jail, why would I put myself in again?” he joked.
“I have a person who is interested in my heart; actually, many. I talk seriously to everyone. I have been a serial flirt for ages.”
Teenage son Sua, who studies overseas, said it’s up to his parents what happens next. “They’re unlikely to reconcile, as they have broken up,” he said.
The reunion comes despite a rocky few years since Kan outed Sek as a drug user, forcing him to undergo detox treatment. She also exposed Sek as a wife beater, a claim he cheerfully admitted, after a bruised Kan went before the media to show off Sek’s “handiwork”. She left home with the kids soon after.
Most recently, Kan urged police to step in after Sek was filmed beating her personal assistant, Chanokporn “Bee” Boonpeng, on April 13 after a chance meeting in the Ram Intra area.
Police have charged Sek with assault causing serious injury stemming from the beating. -
2. Critics blame for May for ‘distraction’
May |
Jay came under fire last week after his team, Muang Thong United, lost to Ratchaburi.
Critics asked if he was allowing himself to get distracted now he and May are an item.
May and Jay, who have known each other about two years, admitted they were seeing each other after being spotted getting close at the King’s Cup final on June 5.
Asked about the fuss last week, May said anyone who follows football knows everyone plays as a team. “Jay is great at his game, but he has no reason to sit alone in a heap if his team loses.
“If they lose, all 10 of them go down. I would like to appeal for a bit of justice … why do you have to attack my boyfriend alone? What about the other nine players, with their girlfriends, wives and children … why not criticise them as well?”
May said she rarely meets Jay, as he is busy training and travelling in the provinces. She herself works odd hours.
While she would like to cheer him on the sidelines more often, she is worried the media attention would affect his concentration, so for the time being prefers to cheer from home.
Earlier in the week, Jay, who also plays for the national team, said critics accusing him of a loss of form since he started seeing May were being unfair. He had suffered a recent knee injury, which has affected his game, but kept going for the sake of his mates.
“The doctor told me to rest for two weeks. May is taking good care of me, and my family is also helping. I am feeling better, but not 100%, as we are playing twice a week. I am not an engine or a machine where you can just change the parts,” he said.
“I am tired, but have to keep going for the team. I usually play well, but when I do poorly in just one match, people talk about it all day ... it spoils my mood,” he laughed.
Jay said he was relieved the initial rush of love for May was over. He admired her sincerity and her strength.
“I care only for the one I love and the ones who love me ... that’s enough,” he said.
In lighter exchanges with the media, the pair last week denied they had plans to marry, after May posted a picture of her wearing a bridal gown, and a diamond ring on her middle finger. May said she modelled the gown for work, and the ring was a loan from a friend. -
3. Surgery ‘no disaster’ says Surachai
Singer and presenter Surachai Sombatcharoen insists his cosmetic surgery is a success, despite the puffiness and bruising which remains around his eyes.
The veteran performer underwent so-called “Face Off” cosmetic surgery in February to give himself younger looks, saying he hoped to look like a man of 30 again.
The doctor pulled up the ends of his eyes, his chin, cheeks, neck, cut out the fat beneath chin, and put in new hair.
Surachai, who went to a Lat Phrao clinic for the work, said the treatment is now 90% complete.
However, the doctors have warned him that at his age he cannot expect instant results.
“The doctor takes care of me well, because it’s his reputation at stake. In two months everything will be in place,” he said at a lakorn opening last week, when he showed off the results of his treatment, four months after surgery.
“There’s still a bit of bruising around the eyes. You must understand, I am 60. The doctor says you have to give it time, but guarantees it will come out looking fine.
“Most people are pleased for me, nobody says it was a waste of money.”
The doctor has to collect the skin around his eyes again. “He says we have to care for the skin on my face where he has injected collagen so it does its work naturally without the need for creams,” he said.
Surachai’s well-publicised surgery set off an industry spat a few months ago when the Facial Plastic Surgery Association of Thailand criticised the technique. The two sides have taken each other to court.
