Nam Petch to fight on, Sek falls behind, Mike stressed

Socialite pushes ahead with charges
Nam Petch
Former Miss Thailand second runner-up Sunannika “Nam Petch” Kritsanasuwan is brushing off claims that her assault complaint against a socialite is struggling for lack of evidence.

Nam Petch claims socialite Ornpapat "Marnfah" Jantarasakha and two of her helpers assaulted her in the toilets of a Thong Lor nightspot on Sept 5 about 1am.

They were visiting the nightspot with friends when they ran into each other. She has laid a complaint with Thong Lor police, who are investigating.

Nam Petch told Thong Lor police one of Marnfah’s helpers held her arms behind her back in an arm lock as another filmed her on her smart phone. She claims Marnfah repeatedly slapped her.

"They employed mafia standover tactics. She wanted me to apologise for remarks I made in a recent interview, and took the clip to smear my name," she said.

Marnfah, who has bad blood with Nam Petch after a recent social media spat in which she claimed the former beauty queen was seeking publicity at her expense, admits the two confronted each other, but insists they did not come to blows.

She says Nam Petch grabbed her arm, and her secretary brushed her hand off, but that was the extent of it. She is gathering evidence of her own with a view to laying a defamation complaint.

Thong Lor police have viewed the eatery’s CCTV footage, but there were no cameras outside the toilets where the clash occurred.

Media reports say two foreigners who witnessed the encounter insist they saw no fighting. Late last week, actor Ratthapoom "Peck" Kainak, who is seeing Marnfah and was also among those in her party at the eatery, also came out to declare nothing untoward occurred.

Nam Petch, who has yet to present any witnesses to the media to back her version of events, has urged naysayers to reconsider.

"No one will admit to being wrong unless they are confronted with the evidence. I have seen CCTV footage in the eatery, but there was none where the fight occurred," she said.

"That means only two of us really know what occurred. Yet I want to pursue this case to the end. I won’t enter into talks to settle the dispute. Police have called in Marnfah to give evidence, but she has yet to respond," she added.

Nam Petch, who has said that she fears for her safety, insists her frequent public utterances on the clash should have no impact on the case, as she has confidence police will do their job.

Actor Peck, who accompanied Marnfah’s group of about 10 to the eatery that night, said several men in the party spotted Nam Petch and called out her name. "One of my elders said he once hired her to go out to dinner with him; another said he wanted her number," he wrote on Instagram.

When Nam Petch spotted Marnfah, she walked past as if she didn’t know them.

Later, when the two women walked into the toilets, Peck said he wondered if a clash would occur, and asked the manager to go in and take a look. "When he opened the door I saw Nam Petch handing her phone to Marnfah. They weren’t fighting," he said.

"Guests were coming and going from the restrooms constantly. My friends, seniors and I waited outside the door in case something was happening, but in the end Marnfah re-emerged and we prepared to go.

"Later, Marnfah noticed Nam Petch had yet to come back into the eatery, and asked her secretary to take a look, but at that moment Nam Petch reappeared from the restrooms," he said.

Police have not commented on the case. -

Rocker 'owes family more than B1 million'

Kan
Rocker Sek Loso is more than one million baht behind in maintenance payments he owes the family, even as he branches out into a multimillion-baht business venture, his former wife says.

Wiphakorn "Kan" Sukpimai, who divorced Sek in a court-backed settlement in June, said the rocker is three months’ behind in payments he owes their three children, forcing her to pay out first and attempt to reclaim the money later. She is threatening further court action unless he cooperates.

Under the settlement, Sek must pay or hand over assets worth 17 million baht.

Kan went public with her grievances last week after contacting his lawyer repeatedly, asking him to pay, but with little success.

Unveiling bold business plans last month, Sek said he plans a nationwide chain of 7-Eleven-style convenience stores to sell a range of branded merchandise, including smartphones, drinking water, energy drinks, health supplements, and beer.

Admitting his music does not sell as well as it once did, the rocker said he is venturing into commerce to support his entourage and his family. He boasted his business enterprise will pull in profits of up to two billion baht within a few years.

But if Sek is rolling in money, Kan says she has yet to see much of it. A day before she went before the media, Sek sent her 150,000 baht, which he is obliged to pay for the kids every month. After going public with her gripes, he sent word he had paid about 300,000 baht in school term fees.

"Apart from the 150,000 a month in support for the children, there are hospital bills, insurance, school learning materials. I have just sent off a bill for three months' payments worth 1.5 million baht," she told the media.

"The lawyers on both sides are fed up. I get my lawyer to send a bill to his, and also send him a copy via social media."

Kan said Sek posted on social media an image of him visiting the kids at school.
"When I saw him saying that a father has to take responsibility, I felt disgusted,’’ she said.

"I don't know if he really has money, but I see him in the media talking about this and that venture. It’s only fair I should ask for my share to safeguard the kids’ rights."

Sek has not commented on the divorce payments drama. -

Singer denies he's an 'errant dad'

Mike
Singer and actor Pirat “Mike” Nitipaisankul denies media claims he is an errant dad are behind his recent collapse at a city function.

Mike swooned and fell moments after journalists asked when he would get around to signing the birth certificate of his son, born out of wedlock to Italian-Thai model Sarah Casinghini, who raises the boy virtually alone.

Mike started to tear up as he was asked whether he is doing his best as a father.

Sarah, who describes herself as a single mum, has complained previously that a year after the child’s birth, he has yet to sign the birth certificate. He has also cut maintenance, from 50,000 baht a month previously to 30,000 baht a month now.

"Even if I haven't signed yet, the whole world knows I am Maxwell's dad. When Sarah and I talk about these issues, we have no problems. We don't argue," he said, insisting it was a family matter and should remain private.

Asked about his collapse last week, Mike said his doctor had diagnosed it as "hyperdilation". He had suffered from the condition for some time, but this was his first attack in public.

"It’s caused by a lack of rest, and worry. I can reach the point where I can't control my breathing and feel numb. It’s hard to move and I feel weak. I have been stressed over many things lately, such as work and business.

"However, it wasn't Sarah or the child. I try not to follow the news, for my own peace of mind.

"One day we will have to clear up things between us. As far as the birth certificate is concerned, I am always ready. There's no reason for me not to sign."
