BEER'S PARTY BEEF, MR ROLEX REVEALED, TURBULENT TRIP

Beer
A former teen actor with a reputation as a bad boy has been accused of threatening youngsters' families with harm after they fell out at a city party.

Soranat "Beer'' Masayawanit, the younger brother of playboy actor Krerkpol "Fluke'' Masayawanit, faces a probe by Phahon Yothin police after he allegedly threatened to harm the families of a group of hi-so youngsters whose party he attended in Bangkok late last month.

The youngsters had earlier complained to police after his conduct at a private party in Soi Chancharoensuk, opposite the Central Department store in Lat Phrao, on July 27.

Smith Kalayanamit, 19, the nephew of coupmaker Gen Saprang Kalayanamit, said Beer assaulted him at the party after a friend touched his girlfriend's hair.

Smith
The girl, called Simona, was known to Beer and his friends, and had invited Beer along as her boyfriend.

"My friend touched her hair by way of greeting and asked if she had changed the colour,'' Smith told police.

"Beer took offence and demanded my friend prostrate myself at his feet and apologise. He refused, which annoyed Beer further,'' he said.

Smith said he and about 18 former school friends called the reunion party. They are former alumni of Saint John's International School in Bangkok. Some, including Smith, are now furthering their education overseas.

Smith said that as Beer was preparing to leave the party about 2am, he started fighting with another youngster, and the two came to blows.

"I tried to break it up, but Beer grabbed me by the throat, scratched my back, and tore my shirt,'' he said.

Beer also vandalised a couple of vehicles belonging to young people at the party, he said.

"He scratched a Hummer H3, and snapped off the logo from a Mercedes,'' he said.

Smith and his friends laid a complaint with police the same day.

They say that in the days following, they received text messages, sent from a number which they identified as Beer's, demanding cash sums in return for their safety.

The messages demanded sums ranging from 15,000 baht to 500,000 baht. "The sender said if we didn't pay, he would kill our families,'' Smith said.

Beer is a former sitcom actor who left the industry under a cloud after a well-publicised scrape with a security guard in Hua Hin. He has yet to comment.

Smith's father, Ardit Kalayanamit, a former local politician in Phichit province, took his son to lay an additional complaint with police on Thursday.

"At first when my son told me about what happened, I thought it was just a case of young people fighting, and dismissed it. However, that changed when I saw the text messages. I can't accept such threatening behaviour,'' he said.

Smith was unwilling to resume his studies in England as he was worried harm would come to his family in his absence.

Phahon Yothin police say they are likely to call Beer and his girlfriend in for questioning tomorrow. -

Aum
Superstar actress and model Patcharapa "Aum'' Chaichuea's boyfriend secret is out, but she says she has no regrets.

Aum confirmed to reporters last week that she is seeing millionaire businessman Pithan "Amp'' Ongkorsit, though she is still taking it slowly, she says, and in fact is still talking to other men.

After weeks of declining to comment on the man in her life, Aum was forced to come clean last week when her friend, actress Pitchanart "May'' Sakakorn, spilled the beans.

May told reporters that Aum and her long-time friend Amp were seeing each other, though their relationship was still at an early stage.

Aum herself revealed in May that she had found someone, but would not give his name.

She published a picture of herself having a meal with a group of friends, including her new man. Her male companion is sitting beside her and only his hand - wearing a Rolex watch - and a leg are visible.

The entertainment industry's most eligible female catch said at that time that she had no intention of revealing his name as she has with her previous loves, as it could put pressure on the relationship.

"Someone has stolen my heart. Please call 911,'' she wrote.

Now that her secret is out - Mr Rolex, it seems, is none other than socialite Amp - Aum maintains she is not upset with May for letting his name slip.

Amp
"We don't see each other that often, as we are busy. As it happens, I was just thinking I should invite May and the others for a meal of som tam,'' she laughed.

"My friends know I have been single for months, and are keen for us to get together,'' she said, referring to Amp.

"Amp is sweet, it's true, but no matter how much my friends cheer us on [as a potential couple], it won't make it happen any sooner,'' she said.

Asked whether Amp was the only man she was interested in as a potential mate, Aum said she has many friends.

"Do you mind if I don't specify who? We're just talking,'' she said.

"I'm taking it slowly. Even if I'm getting on in years, my looks haven't left me just yet,'' she joked.

In June, reporters asked Aum about reports that Amp had stopped seeing his present girlfriend so he could be with Aum instead.

Aum, however, said that if Amp had a girlfriend, it was news to her. "I've never seen him in the company of a woman, but if it's true, I'm pleased for him. At the very least, I know he's not gay,'' she joked. -

Pinky
Even in the midst of a crisis, actress Savika "Pinky'' Chaiyadej still has time for her friends.

Pinky was taking a flight back from Khon Kaen to Bangkok recently when her aircraft encountered a spot of turbulence.

"The plane hit an air pocket and dived, just like in the movies,'' she said last week.

"We were asleep, but the sudden jolt woke us all up,'' she added. "Everyone looked pale with shock.''

Pinky was in the company of 30 young actors and singers, who were returning from a function promoting Thai silk in the northeastern province.

"We woke up and just stared at each other, then started looking after those around us,'' she said.

Pinky said her plane, which had encountered a storm, was forced to circle above the airport for hours, waiting to land.

"The plane engines would rev, then die away. We wondered if we were going to survive,'' she said.

The actress's flight made it to the ground safely. She said her mother sensed something was wrong, as she called shortly after her return.

"Your flight was delayed, wasn't it?'' her mother asked. "I was pacing around at home. It was scary,'' she said.

Pinky said she and her friends are grateful to be alive.

"We have started making merit in a big way, we're so thankful,'' she said.
