The Channel 3 actor called a hurried press conference late last week, hours after meeting his mother for virtually the first time in two years.
Aum said his father and mother, who are divorced, have started new families, and he seldom sees them. However, he still sends money to his mother every month, and says he was shocked by news that she was in trouble with the law.
Bunyaporn Sakrik, 54, was arrested by Bang Lamun police in Chon Buri last week after a creditor laid a complaint.

Mrs Bunyaporn extended high-interest loans with the money she had borrowed from Ms Thopad, allegedly charging her clients 60% a month.
Ms Thopad says that on April 14, Mrs Bunyaporn issued her a cheque by way of repayment which the bank refused to honour.
It said the signature on the cheque was different from that of the account owner.
Police say Mrs Bunyaporn told them she had paid back two million baht in interest to Ms Thopad on the loan.
Her debtors had subsequently absconded with unpaid debts, leaving her unable to pay back the principal.
Police say she then issued a cheque for 1.5 million baht, which the bank refused to clear.
Mrs Bunyaporn said she borrowed money from many people as part of her business venture.
However, she pleaded with the media not to involve her son Aum, as he knew nothing about it.
"I don't want his reputation to suffer because of something I have done,'' she said.
Police granted bail to Mrs Bunyaporn on Tuesday after her daughter and son-in-law posted bail of 516,000 baht.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Aum, 30, said he had spoken to his mother about the matter for the first time only hours before.
"I helped pay for her bail, and in fact send her money every month. I have not abandoned her. We lead separate lives, as my father and mother have started new families.
"I live with my grandmother. My mother paid us a visit recently. It was the first time we had met in two years,'' he said.
Aum said his mother, who lives in Chon Buri, was staying for the time being with his sister in Bangkok.
He said he knew nothing about his mother's business ventures. "She sounded despondent when I called. My initial surprise at hearing news quickly gave way to a sense of pity, and I will do what I can to help.''
Asked whether he would pay off his mother's debt, Aum said it was too early to say.
"I would have to inspect the paperwork. Suffice to say that my two sisters and I will do everything to help,'' he said.
Aum declined to comment further, saying he had hired a lawyer to represent his mother, and he would now have to let the law take its course. -

Tomboy singer Matanawee "Zee'' Keenan is making a rapid recovery after a van hit her outside Wat Pathum Wanaram in Bangkok.
Zee was heading to the temple on Sunday to make merit and join birthday celebrations for actress and model Pitchanart "May'' Sakakorn when a delivery van hit her as she was crossing the road close to the Ratchaprasong intersection.
She was thrown into the air, and landed on her head. She suffered bleeding in her skull, and a broken left clavicle.
Zee, 23, was admitted to the Police General Hospital, which is nearby.
Van driver Somporn Jutrakul, who lent assistance to Zee following the accident, told police he was heading for the entrance to CentralWorld when Zee left a traffic island to cross the road. He did not see her in time to stop, as a skytrain sign was blocking his view.
At the hospital, doctors opened the top of Zee's scalp to relieve the pressure. Two days later, she underwent an operation on her left clavicle.
Surgeon and hospital spokesman, Suporn Jongpanitkuntorn said Zee was making good progress in her recovery.
Luckily for her, the accident happened close to the hospital, and she was admitted speedily.
Zee was unconscious when she was admitted. The RS Promotions singer recovered briefly to complain about her aching head. Doctors gave her an X-ray, when they discovered the internal bleeding.
By the time her surgery was completed mid-afternoon, she was talking normally, and receiving visitors. Zee's two sisters and mother turned up later the same day, along with members of the singer's fan club. Her recovery is expected to take a couple of weeks. -

Actress Keerati "Gypsy'' Mahaplearkpong says an oversupply of women helps her explain her boyfriend's interest in an admirer.
Gypsy caught her boyfriend, actor Porama "Panjan'' Imanothai chatting to a woman on the phone.
She says while most men find it hard to resist the advances of women, the problem is only likely to worsen when there are more women chasing a shrinking supply of men.
"I'm sure he's not the only one ... plenty of men have women approaching them,'' she said.
"It's a question of supply and demand. Before, it was men who tended to approach women. Now, with so many women around, it is the women who are approaching men first.''
Gypsy said she happened to be by Panjan's side when his admirer called, so neither her boyfriend nor the caller made much progress.
"The woman hardly had time to say 'Hello.' I don't know if he gave out his number or not, or if she was a member of his fan club.
"As much as society has changed, ultimately it comes down to the individual, and how he will respond,'' she said.
"All men like to have women admirers chasing them. But if they want to preserve the relationship they have, they might have to make a small sacrifice,'' she said.
Gypsy said the episode shook her confidence in Panjan, and she went through a brief phase of checking Panjan's phone to make sure he was still behaving.
"He probably sweet-talked the girl a little, but felt guilty about it afterwards. I decided I would have to give him another chance, and that he would not appreciate me forbidding this, outlawing that.
"He owned up, and also apologised to my parents,'' she said.
