The veteran rocker returned to the Season music awards on Monday, a year after disrupting their last show when, in a fit of rage, he threw his favourite guitar to the floor and stormed off half way through a song.
Ad, also known as Yuenyong "Ad'' Ophakul, 56, said he asked to come back this year because he felt he owed a debt to the organisers.
"I didn't finish my act last year, and I felt bad about disrupting the awards. So this year I asked if I could come back to make amends,'' he said after the show.
Ad was not on the list of guests expected to perform, but organisers invited him anyway. He performed a song from his group's 30th anniversary album, Jai Mai Dan Por - and this time his act passed without incident.
Ad attributed his temper tantrum last year to lack of sleep, and a stage hand who had failed to do his job properly. He threw down his guitar to spite the stage hand, and stormed off.
Ad went before the media the next day to apologise.
"I have to say sorry, because I behaved poorly,'' he said.
"I was drinking, but not drunk,'' he said, adding he regretted damaging his guitar, which was a gift from a friend.
On Monday, he said he had now repaired the guitar which he threw on stage last year. The bill set him back 1,500 baht.
"I brought it along to play tonight, but found the battery had gone dead. I pulled out the guitar I keep in the car instead,'' he said.
"The guitar I smashed up is my favourite, and was a birthday present from a friend.
"After I smashed it last year, my friend was the first to call and have a go at me. I've since told him the thing has been repaired, and today I'm repaying my debt. Now I feel much better,'' he said. -

The wife of songwriter Nitipong "Dee'' Hornak is coming under scrutiny by the Family Court after she criticised a woman who had an affair with her husband.
The Central Juvenile and Family Court in Nonthaburi is looking into claims that one of its jurors, Rungreudi Hornak, defamed Pornrampa Porkran, who has admitted having an affair with Rungreudi's husband.
Songwriter Pornrampa and Dee worked together at Grammy Entertainment before Dee left to form his own music company last year.
Rungreudi is still unhappy with Pornrampa even though the affair is said to have ended eight months ago.
She has been sending angry text messages to Pornrampa and her husband Thanakorn, according to a police complaint which the couple laid against Rungreudi in February.
The couple told Pracha Chuen police that Rungreudi had sent a series of text messages in which she referred to Pornrampa as a fraud, a woman of cheap morals and threatened to put her in hospital for three months if she alerted authorities.
They took along the text messages as evidence, and also unveiled four sound clips that Mr Thanakorn said were conversations between himself and Rungreudi.
"As well as threatening us, she also refers to important figures she knows in the military and police, as if she is trying to pull class rank,'' he said.
Mr Thanakorn said his wife continued to accept freelance work from Dee's company even after she left, which aroused Rungreudi's suspicions that the pair were still seeing each other, he said.
Speaking at the police station when she laid her complaint, Pornrampa said she was willing to risk society's judgement by admitting she had an affair with Dee.
"At the moment, I have to ask my husband to accompany me whenever I leave home, as I'm afraid for my safety,'' she said.
"When my husband found out about my affair, we had to start building trust again - but then the phone calls and messages started arriving,'' she said.
Rungreudi admitted sending text messages, but in early comments on the saga, insisted they were polite.
"Why would I stoop to such a thing? We do have laws in society and I seek redress by that means,'' she said.
"My husband never had an affair - he's under my gaze constantly,'' she insisted. "The other party behaved inappropriately towards him, and he told her to go.''
She softened her stance in a later interview, however, admitting she sent unpleasant messages, but insisting that "not all'' of them were abusive.
She said Mr Thanakorn blamed her for his wife losing her job, and chastised her on the phone.
"If the couple were trying to destroy my reputation, they've succeeded, so they may as well withdraw the complaint,'' she said.
Asked for an update last week, Mr Thanakorn said he had been in contact with the court, complaining that Rungreudi's conduct was unbecoming that of a juror. The court was investigating his claims, he said.
Pracha Chuen police had called Rungreudi in for questioning on March 8, but she sought a postponement, which police granted until Thursday.
That deadline has now passed, but Rungreudi has exercised her right to seek a second delay, as she gathers evidence in her defence. If police call her up a third time, she must attend.
Mr Thanakorn said he would not give up: "I will visit the court every month, if necessary, until I hear from them whether they will hold Rungreudi to account.
"I have no problem accepting whatever the court decides, but I will not drop my complaint with police, despite her request, until I have heard from the court.
"I want to make sure her threats do not carry on any longer,'' he said. -

Natalie Glebova, former wife of tennis star Paradorn "Ball'' Srichaphan, has found a boyfriend, 12 months after she and her husband split up.
Natalie took her boyfriend, Latvian businessman Janis R, before reporters last week as the pair attended the opening of a city condo.
The Russia-born former Miss Universe said the pair met each other through friends, had known each other a year, and been going steady for the past six months.
However, Janis declined to speak to the media, as he is shy.
"Janis can speak to me in Russian, and also knows English. I wanted to bring him here today so you know I now have a boyfriend,'' she told journalists.
"The thing which impresses me about Janis is that he is so down to Earth,'' she said. "We also have similar lifestyles.
"Friends of ours are involved in this condo project, so it wasn't hard to persuade him to turn up,'' she said.
Announcing the end of their marriage last year, Natalie and Ball said their busy schedules and different lifestyles kept them apart.
"We really did have quite separate interests. Paradorn really loves motorbikes, for example. He loves racing. But I was never a big fan of them. That's just not something I see myself spending my free time doing,'' Natalie said, adding that Janis has met Paradorn, without giving any details.
