Peter |
Peter turned up at a Bangkok hospital with a bad case of constipation, money problems - and an apology to fans for causing them needless worry.
The country music singer went missing on Oct 26 after returning from a concert in Germany.
After arriving at Suvarnabhumi airport, he took a taxi to his apartment, and climbed straight into a waiting mini-van, witnesses told police.
Peter's girlfriend and manager alerted Chokechai police after Peter failed to contact them.
Police examined security footage at the airport, where Peter was seen talking on the phone. They also spoke to the taxi driver who took him from the airport, and the manager of his apartment in Lat Phrao.
Peter finally surfaced at Ramkamhaeng Hospital last Tuesday, feeling sheepish and apologising to fans. "A friend met me at my apartment and took me out for a meal. I had acted as guarantor for a loan of 300,000 baht, but the debtor, a friend of mine, had yet to pay back the money.
"I was afraid of losing my good name, and wanted to help the man who came to meet me. I gave him 200,000 baht from my concert earnings to tide him over and stayed at a friend's place for the night.
"I felt stressed, as that money was intended to help care for my ailing mother and work on a new album.''
One report said Peter took three sleeping pills, which knocked him out for a couple of days.
"When I woke, I turned on my phone and learned my manager was looking for me.
"Friends called to say reporters were speculating that a member of my fan club had abducted me.
"I called someone to pick me up, but went to hospital instead, as I felt ill,'' he said.
Peter, who is being treated for stress and constipation, said the friend for whom he had acted as guarantor had now learned he had paid up on his behalf.
He was confident he would soon discharge the debt he owed. -

Model Yosawadee "Yo'' Hasadeewijit says the government's flood operations centre is panicking residents by issuing evacuation orders before they are needed.
Yo's family cares for 40 stray cats and dogs at their home in Sai Mai in the city's west, where rising flood waters two weeks ago prompted the Flood Relief Operation Command (Froc) to issue an evacuation order.
Yet when Yo checked the water outside her home, she found it had yet to reach her knee.
Yo has taken precautions nonetheless, by building a wall around her place with the help of a few manly neighbours.
She intends to take her mother and grandmother to stay in Pattaya, as she is sure her place will be flooded eventually.
However, Froc's warning, in her view, came too soon, as it panicked residents. It was also too broad, as it failed to specify which districts were at greatest risk.
"We look after 19 dogs and 21 cats. I was able to leave the dogs with the Chachoengsao evacuation centre, where staff are looking after them for free, though I have donated some goods.
"They won't take cats, so I have been contacting clinics in the area. They are taking five or six of the animals each.
"My mother cried when she saw them go, as she loves those animals,'' said Yo.
Her grandmother followed news of the floods constantly and was distressed to hear Froc issue its evacuation order.
Yet Yo said the order was premature, as the area in which she lived had not yet flooded.
"Froc should specify which districts are at risk, and how high the water has reached,'' said Yo.
"Camera crews tend to go to the areas where flooding is worst, as dramatic pictures sell news. But not all districts or residents are affected alike,'' she said.
Yo said she went out to check the flood levels, and found they were nowhere near as serious as the evacuation order led residents to believe.
"Even though the water has yet to enter our home, we can no longer buy rice, and the price of drinking water has climbed to 150 baht a pack.
"We don't have a car, and few vehicles come into this area. The other day I went to Big C to look for a taxi. I waited for an hour and a half, and still nothing came.
"I had to flag down a truck and ask the driver if he was prepared to travel to our place,'' she said.
Yo, who has helped out with the flood relief effort, says help has not reached people evenly.
"Some friends and I travelled recently to Lop Buri where we loaded goods into a container to help food victims. We travelled to their homes by boat for hours.
"Some residents receive one survival pack a week. Others had yet to receive anything at all,'' she said.
More recently, she and other celebrities have been making boxed rice meals for soldiers involved in the relief effort.
"We are making 300 boxes a day for troops, who have to carry 20,000 sandbags a day to help fortify Bangkok,'' she said. -

Actress and model Patcharapa "Aum'' Chaichuea is chafing at claims she is too mean to support flood victims.
Even as other starlets were busy appearing in the media, helping out with the flood effort, Aum recently visited London with a group of friends.
Upon her return, she found some Thais were criticising her for showing a lack of sympathy. She was gallivanting about overseas just as Thais less fortunate than herself were suffering.
Aum says the old woman's tale made her cry.
While some flood victims have lost everything, they can still put up a good fight.
"I help out whenever Thais are in trouble. Last year I pitched in with the southern flood relief effort, by packing essentials for flood victims.
"Claims that I am lacking in generosity are infuriating.
''I transferred money to help with the flood effort before I left for London, but simply chose not to tell anyone,'' she said, urging Thais to help out flood victims if they have a chance. -

Keen to make amends, Aum, accompanied by her manager Supachai "A'' Sriwichit, last week visited flood victims at the Ratchamangkala Stadium flood relief centre, where she met an elderly fan who brought her to tears.
"Is that you, Aum?'' the old woman asked.
"I have only ever seen you on TV, but now I am finally able to meet you in the flesh.
"Did you know my home has lost everything? But one thing I would not abandon to the floods was my TV, as I was scared I wouldn't be able to watch you in your lakorn,'' she said.

When the water flooded into celebrity manager Supachai "A'' Sriwichit's home, his first thought was for his trademark Hermes bags.
The flamboyant agent to superstar models and actors such as Nadech "Barry'' Kugimiya and Mario Maurer is often seen in public clutching a Hermes bag.
He said the floods panicked him when they rushed into his Watcharapol home.
"I had just come back from a trip to Korea with the Miss Teen team and thought I was fortunate to have escaped the floods,'' he said. "The next morning, I left home intending to take a swim. I opened the door, and the floods rushed in. The water rose to my knees.
"I was so panicked I had no idea what to do. My first thought was for my 10 Hermes bags. I asked the manager of the Miss Teen team to pick me up on his boat. I know I looked odd, racing out of home clutching my bags.
"But I salvaged my valuable items first. I didn't take even a single item of clothing. However, I did stuff three Hermes rugs I had just bought under Nadech's bed, as I was worried that if I abandoned my place, they would get stolen,'' he said.
A garden and orchard at his place were damaged. The young members of his talent stable have split up temporarily to stay at their own houses or with friends.
