MAN IN BLACK, BAD TIMING, GENEROUS TO A FAULT, WHO'S SORRY NOW?

Marsha and the police
Singer and actress Marsha Vadhanapanich is grateful she had a man staying over at her place one night last week when an athletic burglar broke into her home and took two telephones.

Marsha and her manager, Thosaworn Srisuwan, were asleep upstairs in her two-storey Nonthaburi home on Monday when they woke to the sound of someone moving about in their room.

Thosaworn leapt to his feet and switched on the light. He surprised a man, dressed in black with a black face mask, about 165-170cm tall.

The black-clad stranger fled through the adjoining bathroom. A glass door led from the bathroom to the second-floor balcony, from where he attempted to make his escape.

The burglar clambered over the wall of the balcony, which is 1.5m off the ground, and lined with metal spikes. Marsha's manager grabbed his feet, but was no match for his strength. The burglar managed to shake Thosaworn loose.

Police who arrived at the scene found Marsha and Thosaworn outside, looking shaken.

Police suspect the burglar climbed over a wall surrounding the property, climbed onto the roof and let himself into their bedroom through the sliding balcony door.

Marsha said that normally she stays with her housekeeper, but on the night of the theft was fortunate to have invited her manager to sleep over instead.

She was feeling unwell, and due to having to get up early in the morning for work, her manager volunteered to spend the night with her.

The burglar managed to make off with Thosaworn's BlackBerry and iPhone. Police found a white Honda motorcycle nearby, which they suspect belongs to the thief. They are investigating. -

Chompoo
Actress Chompoo "Araya'' Hargate says talk of her buying an expensive watch for her boyfriend is flippant, as the country is in crisis.

When reports emerged last week that Chompoo and her boyfriend, businessman Witsarut "Nott'' Rungsisingpipat, had bought five million baht watches for each other as gifts, Chompoo was not amused.

"I don't want to talk about this, as it's likely to set tongues wagging,'' she said, declining to confirm or deny the report.

"But my immediate response is: So what if we did?'' she asked.

"People who have less money than me would think I'm being extravagant. But those who have more would think it was no big deal.

"At times like these, when Thais have been hit by the flood crisis, we shouldn't focus on how stars are spending their money. We should be helping, and trying to stick together,'' she said. -

Kao
Teen actor Jirayu "Kao'' La-Ongmanee says he would be happy to have his own parents' home flooded, if it would help ease the suffering of others.

Kao, whose parents live in a two-storey home in Sai Mai, have been lucky to escape the floods, as they live in a risk zone. However, the waters have started to rise at his grandparents' place, and a friend's one-storey place has been soaked.

"Don't worry about me. I'm likely to suffer much less than many others. I'd like to take some of the flooding at my place, if it would help,'' he said.

The media is praising his youthful show of generosity. "Kao is all man!'' the Manager/ASTV newspaper enthused.-

4.
Stefan, Namfon
Actor Sunti "Stefan'' Weerabonchai says he would like to win back his old girlfriend's affections, as he knows now that he should never have let her go.

Stefan last week appeared at a function with his old flame, actress Kullanat "Namfon'' Preeyawat, where he told the girl to her face that he would like to revive their relationship.

"I realise now that Fon is the best I can hope to find. If ever anyone needs help and calls her, she's always willing to oblige,'' he said.

Fon has been dating an American man for the past year, though she won't rule out one day getting back together with Stefan.

"That's a matter for the future,'' she said.

"I'd make sure to fix my faults before we started again,'' Stefan volunteered before reporters.

Fon turned to Stefan and asked him what faults he thought needed correcting.

"I am selfish. I think of myself before considering whether other people might be in discomfort,'' he said.

Fon says she can't say much, for fear of appearing unfaithful to her American friend. "For the time being I am happy, but if that should change I could consider getting back together with Stefan,'' she said. "He might want me today, and I might still have good feelings towards him.

"But should the day come when I might be alone again, he may no longer want me,'' said Fon.

In a melodramatic moment, Stefan said he doesn't have to wait for the floods to arrive, as he has already flooded his heart with his own tears, such is his regret at losing Namfon.

His remark drew "Oohs!'' and "Ahs'' from reporters.

"If I could go back, I wouldn't choose to be single. It's not worth it,'' he said.

He had been out with other girls, but could never be sure about their motives. "Are they interested in me as a person, or because I am a star?'' he asked.

"When we split up, I told reporters it was only a matter of time before we reunited. But I left it too late,'' he said.

But he was pleased for Fon, as her new friend was a good man.

"The day she told me she had someone else I felt unhappy. But I knew my feelings were nothing compared to the bad things I had done to her,'' he said.

Fon admits that she enjoys the quiet life with her American friend, who is unknown to the media.

"If he had asked me a year ago, I would have given it some thought,'' she said.
