The movie posters |
The model, DJ and occasional actor appears in a pair of white swimming trunks in director Poj Anon's comedy, Hor Taew Taek Waek Chi Mi, his third instalment in the Hor Taew Taek series for Phranakorn Film.
Poj shot a poster promoting the movie in which Tack wore the same pair of skimpy togs. However, the poster and the movie's name failed to pass the scrutiny of the censors, forcing Poj to make changes.
Now, the wording has been tweaked - Waek, a more polite version of Haek (to force apart, spread apart), as it was originally - and Tack has put on more clothes. Tack, who plays a ghost in the wacky comedy flick, now appears in a new version of the poster wearing a sensible pair of trousers.
However, if the Ministry of Culture's taste arbiters thought outspoken director Poj would take the changes lying down, they can think again. ''I don't understand what's come over Thailand ... what a strange place,'' he said last week. ''A guy appears in a pair of swimming briefs and falls foul of the censor. Yet women can appear in skimpy bikinis and get away with it.
''Seeing a woman in a bikini could motivate a guy to commit a crime. But how many women who see a man in a swimsuit will do bad deeds?'' he asked.
Tack appeared in the original poster wearing swimwear because his character dies in a swimming pool. ''It was a natural choice. How many of us go swimming in a suit?'' Poj asked.
The poster has now been reshot, with Tack _ who has graced racy magazine spreads, if not censored movie posters, wearing nothing but speedos _ bare-chested, but wearing a pair of serious looking trousers.
Asked about the fuss, Tack said he wished censors would learn to look at the world in broader terms: ''Never mind ... we shot it again. But their decision seems inconsistent. I've seen much worse, which for some reason escapes the censor's pen,'' he said.
One gossip rag said the original poster showed too much of Tack's manhood for the censor's comfort, so the office asked that it be cut.
''I ran in and out of the swimming pool scene for hours, wearing nothing but swimming briefs.
''However, I took precautions. I wasn't worried he would slip out, as I wore an extra pair underneath,'' he said, referring to Little Tack.
The film will be released in early March.
Tack also gets to show off his body in the Thai erotic movie, Nam Tan Daeng 2 (Brown Sugar 2), now in cinemas. He performs a steamy love scene with actress Z-Nam Suntorn.
''Everything's for real, but for the penetration ... that didn't happen. However, our love scene was hard work, and a difficult shoot,'' Tack said.
''I'm a modest person. If you stroke me, I am not automatically aroused. I had to take smelling salts, I was so stressed.''
Tack said he is pleased he gets to show off his body in the films, as he knows he won't have much to boast about when he gets older.
''If I'm still young enough to show off my six pack, why not? When I get older it will be too late,'' he joked. -

Actress and model Janie Tienphosuwan has lashed journalists who published pictures of her breast toppling out of her dress during a wardrobe malfunction at a city fashion show.
Janie trod on her dress as she made her way down the runway of a fashion event last month, exposing her right breast.
The pictures did a racy trade on the internet, prompting Janie's mother to appeal to the media to stop publishing the images. ''My daughter has cried for two days straight,'' she said.
Janie, who has since returned to the runway, has now spoken out about her ordeal. She told her Facebook followers that it was the worst moment of her life: ''You trampled on a woman's dignity. How would you feel if it happened to a member of your own family?'' she wrote, referring to the journalists who published images of her breast.
''Where are your ethics? Stop thinking merely about how many copies you can sell. Why not spare a thought for how people's families feel?'' she wrote.
A former singer has laid a complaint about a Ratchaburi resort after it refused to return her room charge for an overnight stay she never took.
Suthida ''Nuk'' Kasemsan Na Ayutthaya said she had intended to stay overnight at a resort in Suan Phung district, but when she arrived found the place was still under renovation and was in no state for receiving guests.
''It looked nothing like it was portrayed on the internet, where I looked up the place,'' she told Kok Kham police last week.
When Nuk complained, the management agreed to refund the price of her room, which she had paid for over the internet. However, the resort said she would have to wait a month.
When the deadline arrived, the resort still declined to pay, she said. She called the resort, but the manager was rude.
''I'm laying my complaint not because I want my money back - it's only 4,000 baht - but so that other Thais do not fall victim,'' said Nut, a mother of two.
''They spoke rudely to me, and I would like an apology,'' she added, saying she had made a sound recording of one conversation with the resort's management.
Police have now made contact with the resort, which has promised to refund her room charge by tomorrow. -

Model Sasithorn ''Pik'' Ornwimon took her own life, police say, dismissing speculation that foul play was involved.
After initially harbouring doubts about whether the former Miss FHM girl was murdered, police have now concluded that Pik's death was suicide, deputy commander of the Royal Thai Police Office Phanupong Singhara Na Ayutthaya said last week.
Pik's body was found in her room at the Klangkrung Resort condo in Ratchadaphisek soi 7 on Oct 13. Police believe she had been dead about three days. The air con was on, and the room locked. Neighbours were alerted by the smell of decay.
She was found shot once in the right temple. Her body was lying in bed with a blanket pulled up to her chest. The room showed no signs of struggle, or that any belongings were missing.
Police reconstructed the likely events in her room and showed journalists a 3D computer simulation.
Relatives were initially reluctant to accept that Pik, 27, could have taken her own life. However, Pol Gen Phanupong said forensic evidence pointed to suicide.
''After shooting herself, she probably lived another half an hour, although she had lost consciousness,'' he said. "However, she had also taken 10 sleeping pills.
''She had taken enough pills to put her life in danger, even if she hadn't shot herself,'' he said.
Pol Gen Phanupong said he had spoken to Pik's family and friends. He said they were satisfied with the police findings.
