Pinky |
On Monday, journalists received by email four audio clips recorded at the height of the scandal involving the affair between Pinky and the businessman she is accused of seeing, Peck Sunchai, which first came to light in April.
Peck is married to actress and presenter Tanyaret ''Tanya'' Engtrakul, now visiting the US with the couple's daughter, Leeya.
While the conversations appear to be have been deliberately recorded by Tanya, she denies releasing them to the media to damage Pinky or her husband.
On Wednesday, Peck laid a complaint with police urging them to catch the parties who leaked and disseminated the sound files. He apologised to his wife and Pinky, and urged the parties responsible to leave his family alone.
Peck lays complaint |
The male voice threatens to do harm to Tanya and her mother, and abduct the couple's child. The female voice baits him continually, referring to his affair with ''Pinky'' and asking him if he felt remorse.
Speaking at the Crime Suppression Division in Bangkok, where he laid his complaint, Peck admitted the person in the recording is him.
The recording was made several months ago, while Tanya was on a previous visit to see her mother in the US. Tanya had decided to delay her return to Thailand, which upset Peck.
''I hadn't seen my daughter for a long time, and was missing her. That gave rise to a moment of anger. I regret saying what I did ... I used bad language and spoke strongly,'' he said.
''We have since made up, and are now on good terms,'' said Peck, who said the trauma over the leaked clips had hurt everyone.
''Pinky's career hopes are under a cloud. My wife is so stressed that the capillaries in her eye have burst. She is back in the US, and I plan to visit her next week,'' he said. ''As I said at the outset, the blame lies with me alone.''
According to early reports giving rise to rumours of their affair, Peck and Pinky were caught on a security camera, kissing in the lift of a city hotel. Other reports had them coo-ing over each other on an aircraft.
After the reports of Peck's infidelity surfaced, Tanya threatened to leave her husband. He promised to reform himself, and Tanya asked for time to start anew.
The media has rarely left the three alone since, dragging up supposed sightings of Pinky and Peck on outings in Phuket. Other claims surfaced that Channel 3 performers refused to work with Pinky, to punish her for her conduct.
Last month, Pinky's mother came out to defend her daughter against claims that she is still seeing Peck.
In a teary appearance before the media, Sarinya Chaiyadej said she was tired of persistent rumours that Pinky is trying to break up Peck's marriage.
When the clips surfaced on Monday, Pinky was in India, where she is making a Bollywood movie.
By mid-week she had returned to Bangkok, when she declared that, after hearing the clips, she had cancelled her work engagements and would leave the industry temporarily.
She did not want to cause any more bother, so thought it better to withdraw. She had quit a Channel 3 soap opera, and would concentrate on her studies and furthering her career in India.
The other clips are said to be conversations between Tanya and Pinky, recorded at a city pub with a friend; between Tanya and Pinky's mum; and a second chat between Tanya and her husband.
In her chat with Tanya, Pinky's mum is typically forthright.
''You have a husband and child ... why don't you go back to looking after them?'' she asked Tanya.
''She's just a kid, and knows better. Why don't you warn your husband to keep away from my daughter?''
In the most recent clip to be released, Peck has called his wife to say Pinky's mum has been in touch.
''If you don't want trouble, why keep taking calls from them?'' Tanya asks him.
Contacted by journalists, Tanya agreed it was her in the clips.
''Peck is hot-headed, and uses strong language, but I'm used to it now. He gets angry, but a moment later it's gone.
''My husband was drinking when he called. However, the next day he called to apologise,'' she said.
Tanya denied leaking the clips herself. ''I sent my BlackBerry phone back to Thailand to sell it, but deleted all sound recording files. Someone must have retrieved them,'' she said.
Earlier, a source close to Pinky said she believes the actress was set up.
''The person who made the recordings intended to do Pinky harm. She asked questions intended to elicit damaging information.
''I don't believe the BlackBerry phone was sent back to Thailand ... that sounds over the top. If no one intended any mischief, why record the conversations?'' the source said. -

An outspoken director says he will sue the woman who claims she gave birth to RS superstar Rattapoom ''Film'' Tokongsub's son - even as a woman's group rallies to her defence, agreeing to sue the other side on her behalf.
Director Poj Anon, who is acting as Film's guardian, said on Wednesday he plans to lay defamation charges against actress Rungnapa ''Annie'' Brooks next week.
Acting on Film's behalf, Poj says he will sue Annie for defamation, after she claimed Film was the father of her child, but refused family requests that her son take a DNA test.
Acting for Annie, the Lawyers Council's Thon Buri section is planning legal action of its own against Poj, Film's boss RS Promotion head Surachai ''Hia Hor'' Chetchotisak, and former actor Methi Amornvuthikul for suggesting she is a loose woman.
Methi said Annie falsely claimed to have fallen pregnant with his child when they were seeing each other about 11 years ago.
Earlier, Hia Hor accused Annie of seeing four men late last year at the time she supposedly fell pregnant with Film's baby.
Lawyers Association (Thon Buri) chairman Sakrit Jiamkamon said Annie has authorised him to take legal action, and proceedings will start next week.
Meanwhile, Poj says he has unearthed evidence which shows Film is not the father of Annie's child, now aged three months.
''I have hospital documents which show that she went for a checkup in July last year, when she had yet to have sex with Film. The results showed she was not pregnant,'' said Poj.
''By the time of her second test, in August, she was pregnant, but by then Film had discovered she was seeing another man - a member of the Korean boy band FT Island,'' he said. More details will be released when legal action begins.
Last week, Annie made her first appearance on the catwalk since the drama began, and later paid a visit to her mother in Lampang.
She has declined to comment on Poj's claims.
