Who is Mae Moo?

The best possible taste, a new name, just a kiss

Model Jutharat Mor Oiy Athakorn may drop most of her clothes for the cameras, but that doesn’t mean she’s common.

Oiy, who poses virtually nude for the latest Penthouse magazine, says there’s nothing wrong with a girl getting back to nature.

''I didn’t part my legs. That was one of my conditions.

''I am not sending out the message, ‘Common Baby’ '', she told the Manager newspaper.

What? She means ‘C’mon baby’, but the journalist misunderstood.

Such is the peril of trying to show off your English skills.

Like many members of the Thai celebrity set, Mor Oiy likes to drop English words into her Thai banter to sound smart. However, she would hate to be thought of as trashy, as hers is an ''artistic'' profession.

She demanded a seven-figure sum for the shoot, so she can’t be cheap. The model also insists that her Penthouse shoot – marking the Thai edition’s 15th anniversary- was tasteful, and not designed to bring out male readers’ jungle instincts.

She refused to show her nipples or her lower region (''Even if you held a gun to me, I wouldn’t do it''), and insisted on working with a photographer from an arty (as opposed to nude-shoot) background.

''I also refused to open my mouth in a provocative way, which is hard, as I look like this naturally. When I wake in the morning, I have a sultry mouth. I am BORN TO BE SEXY,'' she says, again sprinkling about her English.

Okay, dear - we got it this time.

''But if you part your legs, there’s only one message you can send,'' says Mor Oiy, declaring this will be her last revealing spread. -

Fancy a four-day tour to Vietnam, sitting next to bikini-clad actress Manasnan ''Donut'' Panlertwongskul?

Tour company Ngohpatour allegedly held out that promise to holiday-makers who signed up for a 16,900 baht trip to the neighbouring country this month.

A brochure included pictures of Donut, taken from her bikini spread for Praew magazine two years ago. ''Come and see Vietnam with Donut!'' it said.

Donut
Donut, who is suing the company for 1 million baht in damages, says the company used her name without permission, and damaged her reputation.

A public relations company working for Ngohpatour asked if she’d like to go to Vietnam for promotions work.

No agreement was reached, but the company went ahead and used her pictures regardless. It also falsely claimed that she would accompany holidaymakers on the July 4-7 tour as a celebrity guest.

Donut complained to police about the company last month, but she heard nothing more from the firm.

Ngohpatour manager Poonnaphop Thathap offered an apology to Donut, but blamed the PR firm for the mess.

Many customers had taken fright and cancelled bookings since the saga came to light, he said. Donut declares she will entertain no talk of an out-of-court settlement, as the company had left the matter hanging for too long. -

Actor Nattapon ''Tai'' Leeyawanit has changed his name to change his fate, but met with only mixed luck since.

Tai says he made the change after a seeing-eye doctor warned him that his first given name Nattapon, when combined with astrological signs such as his birth date, spelt bad luck. He could end up with cancer, or lung disease.

He changed it to Payu (''Storm''), a name he had liked since he was young.

However, now senior figures in his life are warning him that it sounds too tempestuous.

''They reckon it sounds scary,'' he says. ''Actually, I have changed my name only on my ID card, and even that was a drama.

''Changing my name again would be confusing, but I am willing to be guided by my parents. If they are happy for me to keep Payu, I shall,'' he said.

Has the name change worked? The actor– who still uses his nickname, Tai, in public - is appearing in two television soap operas, which is a good thing.

However, on the bad news front, journalists are hounding Tai after actress Sririta ''Rita'' Jensen, allegedly knocked him back when he tried flirting with her.

Gossip rags say Tai is red-faced after Rita said she’d rather they keep it as friends, nothing more.

But Tai says the stories are wrong, as he and Rita were never interested in getting that close. -

Marsha, Sek
It was just a morale-boosting kiss, not a duel of the lips, says Grammy singer Marsha Vadhanapanich, referring to the kiss she exchanged with veteran rocker Sek Loso at his comeback concert in Bangkok.

''There was nothing indecent about it. I kissed him because we hadn’t seen each other for a long time, the way foreigners do when they greet each other.

''I was just giving him encouragement,'' says Marsha. ''What would you have me do – recoil in horror?'' she joked.

Marsha goes out with DJ Krit Sripoomset, who admitted he felt miffed to see the pair kiss on stage.

Marsha says Krit was just kidding, as he was a broad-minded type and really didn’t mind.

On webboards, Thais say Sek should have considered Krit’s feelings before planting one on Marsha’s cheek.

For her part, Marsha denied she was a jealous type – just as Krit doesn’t mind if a guy kissed her, nor would she mind if Krit kissed a girl.

Brave words. When journalists asked her about reports that Krit had been seen visiting the seaside with actress Lakana ''Um'' Wattanawongsiri, Marsha's genial mood frosted over.

''Look, you journalists will make news out of anything these days,'' the pop diva snapped. ''I can’t be expected to comment on every trifling matter. How about you bring me the important stuff, okay?'' -

Kratae
For Thailand’s first ''erotic'' movie, actress Supaksorn ''Kratae'' Chaimongkol could step in where other angels fear to tread.

Amid reports that Panward ''Peuy'' Hemmanee, first choice as lead actress in the movie Innocent Love, is chafing at the film’s nude scenes and may withdraw from the project, Kratae is being touted as a possible successor.

Last month, Peuy said she was negotiating about how much of her body she would have to show. Since then reports have emerged that she is having doubts about whether to go ahead at all.

Directed by actress Bongkoj ''Tak'' Khongmalai, Innocent Love is overseen by producer Pracha Pinkaew for Sahamongkol Films.

Peuy is trying to live down her sexy image. Kratae, a close friend of director Tak, says she is not interested in acting in sexy movies for their own sake. She hesitates even to call the movie ''erotic'', as Tak has done.

However, Kratae is confident that if she was asked to play the lead, director Tak would handle the matter tastefully. ''Tak has been in many movies, and is a woman herself, so won’t exploit nudity for its own sake,'' says Kratae.

Tak says Peuy is ideal for the lead role, and still hopes she can get her. The film has now taken on Thai national artist Jakrapan Poysayakrit as creative producer.

In sketches he has done for the film, the lead female character bears an uncanny resemblance to Peuy, she says.

Tak is at pains to play down the role of sex. ''Thai society is not ready for a mainstream porn film, and I have my own family name to protect.

''Making a film is not like som tam, where anything gets thrown in the pot. It’s an involved process,'' she said. The actress/director has yet to set a date for the cameras to roll.
