Aimee's apology, Boom tones it down, Leena earns her fame, Chompoo a politician's favourite

Aimee
One week, daring model Morakot ''Aimee'' Kittisara makes a teary apology for showing too much of her body after her dress slips during a fashion show. The next, she appears in a magazine spread in a revealing two-piece bathing suit!

What's going on? Is Aimee the picture of sweet modesty which her apology suggests, or does she actually like to show a bit of bod?

Aimee admits work offers are now flooding in after her left breast was exposed at a department store function when her dress slipped. Good luck to you, dear!

It may be just a coincidence, but in the week following that well-publicised dress failure, Aimee has appeared in a shoot for Volume magazine showing even more flesh.

Taking part in a desert-themed fashion show in Pin Khlao, Aimee lost one side of a flimsy evening gown, exposing part of her breast.

She apologised if, in the eyes of Thais, she let herself down. That might have been the end of the affair, but for the fact that she is now posing in bathing suits, in what she admits is the sexiest shoot she has made since she entered the industry.

In this month's Volume magazine, the former Miss Thailand Universe winner is wearing a two-piece grey bathing costume and high heels. In one shot, Aimee strikes a confident pose at odds with her moist-eyed, embarrassed look of last week - hand on hip, left leg held aloft, arched back against the wall. Take that!

Aimie admits the bathing suit shoot only enhances her image as a model who likes to take it off.

Some might wonder whether her apology was sincere, or whether she was turning on the waterworks to make the most of the front page publicity.

Aimie, however, insists the apology was real. ''People have been so supportive. The other day I was in Pattaya. When I took the stage, the audience applauded me for what I had been through. People are coming up to me to shake my hand, give me a hug. I was so moved I was in almost in tears,'' she says.

Reaction to the sexy bathing costume shoot is just as positive.

''The magazine shoot was taken before the incident at the department store. It is about as daring as I want to get. Let me offer an apology in advance to anyone who is upset.

''It shouldn't cause my image too much harm, as I posed in a bathing costume when I was in the Miss Thailand competition.

''I am still not happy about what happened at Pin Khlao, even if it did boost my profile. It is hard to go out in public...I am not sure if people are looking at my face, or something else. But it happened, so I have to come to terms with it.'' -

Boom

Former beauty queen Panadda ''Boom'' Wongpudee is unlikely to grace magazine covers for sexy summer shoots this year, after her boyfriend told her to stop taking her clothes off.

Boom is a staple of sexy summer shoots, though she reckons that away from the camera she doesn't care how sloppy she looks.

This year, magazine editors contacted Boom asking her to pose for bikini spreads as usual, but Boom turned them down.

Boyfriend Sattawat ''Tae'' Sethakorn says he wants her to focus more on her beauty, and give the sexy stuff a rest.

''I am more likely to accept advertising work,'' she says. ''I am busy at the moment anyway, with concerts, fashion events, and preparing for a movie.

''Tae's wishes played a part in my decision, though ultimately it is up to me, as my work comes first,'' she says.

Tae, who works here and in Taiwan, is younger than Boom, but bossy. A supporter of protest group People's Alliance for Democracy, he is keen to debate politics with anyone, even those close to his heart.

Boom says they argue fiercely over politics, because they do not see eye to eye on the PAD. However, she hasn't let that put her off.

Boom says she and Tae are often asked to work together, and are seen as an item. However, she is reluctant to call Tae her boyfriend - just in case this brave protester takes fright and runs off to China. He returned for another spell working in Taiwan last month.

Boom says the age gap is not a problem, as Tae, 26, behaves like her father anyway.

''Have you eaten yet?'' he asks sternly. If she's good, she does as she is told – though he has yet to persuade Boom to back the PAD. -

Leena
Veteran political candidate Leena Jangjanja has finally realised her dream of becoming an actress, if not a politician.

When director Poj Anon cast her in his kathoey football comedy, Taew Te Teen Rabert, Leena was delighted.

The former independent candidate for Bangkok governor had long wanted to get into acting. ''I thought I could be famous,'' she says.

What she didn't know was that acting could be just as brutal as performing on the political stage.

She was ticked off by the director, and in one scene had to stand there while he threw a ball in her face.

Leena takes the role of a foxy teacher in the comedy, in which an all-girls school fields a team in the national secondary school football championships.

It calls for applications from young men, but end ends up with a team packed with kathoey.

In real life, Leena is an extrovert mother of two and lawyer who on the campaign trail likes to wear shocking pink. In the movie, she plays a strict, anti-kathoey teacher who wears prim teacher's garb, including shoes with heels under two inches - compared to the 6-inch ankle-busters she likes to wear normally.

''The character is not me at all. I like to wear sexy outfits. Wearing those short heels made me feel less confident,'' she jokes.

''I couldn't help myself - I kept looking at the camera. Poj ticked me off. 'Leena, look anywhere you like - just don't look at the camera when we're filming, can you?'

''I had to eat Spanish fly, an aphrodisiac - then strike a sexy pose, as if eating the bug had the desired effect. I wasn't sure how to look sexy, and Poj was worried that if I might make a fool of myself.

''The most painful scene was when I had to get hit in the face by a football. No one on set was game to throw it, because they were worried they would hurt me, so in the end Poj had to do it.

''It stung so much my eyes watered, but I didn't dare show how much it hurt.''

Poj's movie is now in cinemas. The trailer - showing a same-sex kissing scene between two teenage girls, and a near-kissing scene between two young men - is popular among teens, though Poj denies he is trying to covert anyone to the ''third gender''. -

Chompoo
Araya ''Chompoo'' A. Hargate is the actress most desired by Thai politicians, according to a poll. One has also asked her out for dinner - and told her she could name any price.

Chompoo was ranked most desirable, followed by Patcharapa ''Aum'' Chaichuea and Khemanij ''Pancake'' Jamikorn.

Chompoo, who likes to view the world in a positive light, says the poll shows that some political figures are caring types.

Asked if any politicians had offered to be her sugar daddy, Chompoo says none has made it that far, or been game enough yet.

However, she has been sounded out by politicians who want to dine with her - and for the privilege, were willing to pay any price.

''This is becoming a common practice, and I am sure the other actresses in the poll will have heard of it. I am pleased to say that all three of us are in a position to take care of ourselves financially, and are happy to carry on doing so,'' she said.

''They summon us for a meal - hire us to have dinner with them - and ask us to name our price. I managed to keep my composure. I turned the man down, saying I was not interested in such 'work'.''
