Loving a ladies' man often ends in tears

Tack
Yingmaen
Once a Casanova, always a Casanova – even where minor royals are concerned.

Model and one-time actor Parunyou ''Tack'' Rojanavudtitham has been seeing a minor royal, just 18, who obviously expects more from him than mere friendship.

Maybe that's her first mistake – for Tack, by his own admission, isn't yet ready to give up his womanising days.

Mom Rachawong Mannarumas Yukol, also known as Yingmaen, burst into tears at a city department store this week when told by journalists that Tack had been sighted with another woman.

No doubt her family was horrified. But these are the wild ways of the young, and their parents just have to bend with them.

Tack was spotted at the city airport, getting close to singer Nutcha Ploy - Little Voice'' Sawatrukkiate.

She is just a friend of his elder brother, he assures. Yet Tack's reputation as a ladies' man precedes him – how can the other women in his life be sure it is not just the girl he keeps in spares?

Yingmaen was shocked. Her friends had called her to pass on news of Tack-Little Voice sightings, and now journalists were telling her of another.

''Noo mai roo [I don't know],'' she said sadly.

''As far as I know, things between us haven't changed. I know he is busy at the moment, preparing to enter the monkhood. But it was only the other day that we went to the movies together,'' she said.

She put on a brave face, but finally cracked. Yingmaen flew into the arms of a friend, former Miss Teen Thailand Kanya ''Peung'' Leenutpong, and burst into tears.

Photographers snapped away. Now, this was drama!

How could Tack be so cruel – or, if he really wants to keep this girl's loyalty, so careless?

Maybe he knows that as the older and more experienced half of the relationship, he can talk her down in the end.

A day later, Tack showed up by Yingmaen's side at a jewellery store promotion to claim the pair had now made up.

Yingmaen was wearing a ring on her middle finger, which he bought to say sorry. Tack denied buying the ring to appease Yingmaen. 'She just likes fashion,' Tack said.

With Yingmaen by his side, Tack asserted that however much his eye wanders, women who enter his life just have to accept it.

''I admit I am a ladies' man. But I am just the way I have always been. If you love me, you have to accept me the way I am. I am like no one else, and no one else is like me,'' he said.

Yingmaen's response? Unsurprising, perhaps, for a young woman her age: He is what he is, but I am not worried. If he meets someone better, then he is welcome to her -because Tack is not my boyfriend, but merely a friend.

''No matter how many more times he does wrong, I'll forgive him. Never mind.''

Good God, dear – where's your courage?

Oddly enough, Tack had promised his Dad - not to mention the many girls in his life - that his days as a Casanova were over.

Tack has been linked to many young women - final-year school pupils, university students, wealthy starlets. But next month he has vowed to put it all behind him when he enters the monkhood in his hometown of Chiang Mai, to honour his parents.

In September, Tack said his Dad had asked him to find a girl and marry her. ''I have to be serious about love, so I have pulled all my claws as a Casanova],'' he said then. 'If I get hurt again, then I will just have to find someone else.''

His father told Tack that he wanted a grandchild, and to find someone in a hurry. Tack, 25, promised to arrange it.

At the time, he also described Yingmaen as a mere friend, and said he had found another woman in his life with whom he was going steady.

We don't know what happened to that liaison, but suddenly, Yingmaen looks more attractive in his eyes.

Yingmaen is a good sport, the Thai media says. After recovering from her Tack-disloyalty shock at the department store, she wiped away the tears to pose for pictures. Composure, composure!

Yingmaen has been linked with a few admirers herself. The niece of film-maker Mom Chao Chatrichalerm ''Than Mui'' Yukol (the Naresuan movies), Yingmaen was schooled in Britain and now studies arts at Chulalongkorn University.

Her parents complain that she appears in the media too often. As a minor royal, she has to set an example. When she parades on the catwalk, she can't wear anything too revealing. Nor should she appear too eager where men are concerned.

In the short time she has been back, Yingmaen has been linked with Tack, a Thai/farang model called Chris, and singer Pirath ''Mike'' Nitipaisalkul, of Golf and Mike fame.

Previously, she was accused of acting as a third hand between singer Pakorn ''Dome'' Lum and Cherman ''Ploy'' Boonyasak, which she denied.

''I appear in the news too much for my family's liking,'' she admits. ''They are upset, but no one is angry.

''Some people may ask how a man and woman can just be friends. But I do have many friends who are guys - and my family understands,'' Yingmaen insists.

As a Thai schooled in the West, the young model thinks nothing of greeting her Thai friends with a hug, or holding hands in public. Now that she is back from the West, elders are urging more Thai-style restraint.

Yingmaen says her father, Mom Jao Chulacherm Yukon, has met all the young men in her life. One media said singer Mike was his favourite. Before attending one of Mike's concerts, Dad practised singing Mike's rap-style songs, she says.

Yingmaen's father has also met tattooed, bestubbled Tack, who some young critics reckon looks too common to be associating with a minor royal. At least Mike, they say, went to an international school.

The young royal insists she is also just a regular girl. ''No one is whispering kam ratchasap (royal language) in my ear all day, you know.''

Tack says Ploy ''Little Voice'' is just a friend. At the jewellery store function, Tack invited Yingmaen to a romantic outing with him, to float a kratong close to Wat Phra Kaew.

''I have cleared myself with her now. Ploy is just a friend. Yingmaen cried because she's still young, and was taken unawares,'' he said.

Calling himself a playboy with a heart, Tack says whenever he talks to a girl, people assume he is flirting. However, he is sure Yingmaen's family understands, as the pair conduct their relationship in the open.

As he spoke to journalists, Tack held Yingmaen around the waist, or by the hand.

''She told me that she cannot wear the ring on the ring finger...it has to be the middle finger. That's okay - it looks fine there,'' says Tack.

He denied posting pictures of Ploy at his Hi5 site, or posting romantic messages to Ploy at her own Hi5. ''I tell everyone the same thing ... look after your health,'' he says.

Yingmaen says she is sure Tack has posted no sexy pictures of her rival Ploy. ''I have the password for Tack's Hi5!'' she said. ''I check it regularly to see what he is saying.''

In this day and age, that's as good as the loyalty grip of a wedding ring.

On the internet, Thais say Yingmaen is letting Tack get away with too much. He says she has to accept his womanising ways – and, far from raising objections, she promises to forgive him.

''Yet she also maintains that Tack is not her boyfriend,'' says one woman in her defence.

Tack's Dad might have to wait a little longer for his grandchildren, for no woman wants a man who can't make up his mind.-

Just how many girls does a Casanova need?

DJ Piyawat ''PK'' Khempetch says his new special friend is model Pavena ''June'' Rungratnawilai, of the 2008 Miss Sabina Doom Doom! Girl Contest.

''When I am seeing someone, I see just that one girl,'' he says firmly.

This is despite his reputation as a man with a hungry eye for young women.

Days after he pledged his allegiance to June, PK was snapped by paparazzi, shopping with DJ Ribena ''Nana'' Tunwimol.

The pair were shopping on Thursday with another couple of starlets, and did not appear aware that cameras were watching.

In one image, Nana has PK around the waist, and steals a hug.

June is in the US at present, doing a modelling shoot. A case of the mouse playing while the cat is away?

''As soon as I saw the pictures, I sent June a text message,' says PK. She knows it's nothing. I have been friends with Nana for eight years. I know her parents, and she knows mine. We were shopping for a present for her mother.''

He added hastily: ''June knows that when I am seeing a woman, I see just the one person.''

Really? June has been at pains to keep herself at a distance from this Romeo, nonetheless.

A few days before he was snapped at the department store, the Doom Doom! model - wary of PK's reputation as a serial flirt - told the media that he was moving way too fast.

PK, journalists had told her, had elevated June to girlfriend status.

June brushed that off. He was wrong to call her his girlfriend – at the moment, they were still getting to know each other, she said.

''If we have spare time, we might meet for a meal, and he has given me advice on many matters. But it's way too soon for him to be calling me his girlfriend. We have been talking for only two months or so...we have to get to know each other much better yet.''

Until recently, PK was in a long-standing relationship with television presenter Patcharasri "Kalamare" Benjamas.

Kalamare pulled the plug when she realised it was going nowhere, though she has suggested that PK's eye for the ladies may have played a part.

Some media reports suggested Doom Doom! acted as a third hand in breaking up the relationship. Her response? ''Noo mai roo! [I don't know]''

Her innocent response prompted one gossip rag to ask: What planet have you been living on, dear?

But back to PK. ''At the end of the day, I go to bed alone,'' he says wistfully about love.

The pair met at her Doom Doom contest. They visit home furnishing shops together, where she advises PK on how to make his place look feminine.

To PK's delight, June also likes to advise on fashion. When journalists asked PK to respond to her ''we're just friends'' remark, he was wearing a lavender tie and shoes in matching colour, no doubt chosen by her.

But don't dare suggest it's the colour of love.

''I never uttered the word girlfriend!' he insisted, attempting to spare her further embarrassment, and save his own face at the same time.

''I wouldn't dare call her my girlfriend. Let's get through the rest of this year first.''

PK says he takes love day by day, and at his age, holds out no great hopes. ''I enjoy love. The only question is whether it ends happily. But even if it doesn't, I'm not going to sit around feeling glum about it.''

However, he agrees the pair should take things slowly, and get to know each other first.

''I don't want to rush it - if I'm not careful, it might fly apart - and then I'll have to start again with someone else.''

Famous last words of a man with a wandering eye. Let's see if it lasts. -

Woonsen
Actress Virithipa ''Woonsen'' Pakdeeprasong has been dressing more safely lately. That's thanks to her admirer, actor Nathep ''Nat'' Hussadin Na Ayuttaya, who has advised her to dress less sexily.

''I'm not being possessive. I'm more worried than anything. I have told her that a woman can look beautiful without having to look sexy. I realise that as someone in the entertainment industry, she has to look good. But I don't want to see her showing too much.''

Woonsen obviously cares for his advice, as she's now covering up more of herself.

Nat says the pair are still in the getting-to-know-you phase.

They have met each other's mothers. Nat has also met Woonsen's Dad, though he has yet to take Woonsen home for the grand introduction to his parents, as he regards that as a big deal.

Woonsen's kin holds a ''family day'' every Sunday, to which Nat has been invited. The pair often dine with Nat's mother, too, who has an eye for clothes and gives her own advice to Woonsen on what to wear.

So when will he finally take her home so she can wai Mum and Dad? ''It won't be long now,'' he says. Needless to say, she'll be dressed safely for that little outing!
