Janie takes love plunge, Jah denies man-steal, Ohm does charity

Taking a dare on love
Janie, Mickey
Actress Janie Tienphosuwan and her fitness instructor boyfriend have decided to tie the knot, though the star is reluctant to give too many details away lest it bring bad fortune.

Janie, perennially unlucky in love, last week disclosed her plans to marry model and fitness instructor Mickey Allapach Na Pombhejara, after he went down on bended knee to propose to her on a recent seaside outing while the pair were visiting Los Angeles.

Mickey brought along a bunch of flowers and a simple ring concealed inside as he asked for her hand on the wind-swept beach. After posting an image on social media of the romantic scene, Janie denied they had staged the event. She hadn’t made up her face, and was wearing mere flip-flops. More importantly, she wanted them to leave the seaside quickly, as she needed to visit the restroom.

“He asked me to look at the flowers. I said they belong to someone else and don’t meddle. He asked me to look at them again, but I was in stomach pain as I needed to relieve myself. Finally, he got down on his knee and asked if I would marry him,” Janie said.

“The scene was impromptu, though his mother did tell me he was likely to propose during our trip,” she said.

Janie accepted his offer, and the pair has now started work on plans for the wedding, which she insists will be a simple affair. She also revealed Mickey’s mother, Siriporn, is keen for them to start a family immediately.

“I decided to say yes to marriage not just because of him but his mother too, who makes me feel safe emotionally. For me, love has not always gone smoothly. For that reason if I opt to go with someone for the rest of my life, it’s a pretty difficult decision,” she said.

“She gives me more confidence than he does, in fact, though he is grown up for his years.  The love I get from his family lets me understand how he loves me the way he does.

“I feel warm and secure with his mother. Apart from that, I don’t want problems ... I don’t want the past to harm the present or the way things are now,” she said.

Janie won’t wear the simple ring he gave her by the seaside, nor disclose their wedding plans, amid rumours she would hold the big day on Koh Samui towards year-end. She said the couple had consulted a monk on a lucky day for the wedding, but she will not give away the date, or say whether they plan to seal the union by registering it.

“I would rather wait until the day, just in case it doesn’t happen,” she said.

Mickey, whose American-born father was a coach to the Thai national football team, and who is himself keen on sports, met Janie at her city gym last year. The pair have weathered initial claims that Janie snatched Mickey from his old girlfriend, and that Mickey’s mother was not happy about the union.

Janie said: “I don’t think we have moved too quickly. Some couples know each other just a couple of months before they marry. Mickey is younger than me, it’s true, and I admit age can be an obstacle. But It’s like we talk in the same language. We were both born and raised in the US. We look at each other and just know.”

Janie’s love life appears to have rebounded after her brief fling with hi-so businessman Chalermchai “Kueng” Mahagitsiri ended unhappily in August last year. Several months before, Kueng’s business mogul father Prayudh Mahagitisiri declared he had started building a lavish marital home on a 6 rai site in the Sathon Road area for his son.

When the two-year union eventually fell apart, with Janie hinting darkly that Kueng could have behaved better, the actress also temporarily fell out with some of her closest friends amid claims they knew Kueng was two-timing but said nothing.

In 2014, in another brush with ill-fate on the romance front, Janie divorced millionaire businessman and convicted jailbird politician Chonsawat “Ae’’ Asavahame after a brief marriage ended in tears amid claims he beat her.

A relative of former prime minister Abhisit Veijajiva’s wife, Mickey graduated in sports science at Oregon State University in the US, and obtained a masters degree from Edith Cowan University in Perth. A keen tennis and rugby player, he is a sports scientist and personal trainer who has also opened a gym in the Aree area.

No minor wife, Jah insists

Actress and VJ Natthaweeranuch ‘‘Jah’’ Thongmee rejects claims she stole another woman’s husband, saying she put a series of questions to her love to make sure he had left his marriage behind.
Jah
Jah spoke out after her boyfriend, private businessman Thananan “Tu” Eua-arak went before the media late last month to clear the air about their relationship. Earlier, rumours emerged on social media that Jah was seeing someone’s husband.

Tu, who admitted accompanying Jah on a romantic trip to Hong Kong, said they had been seeing each other since the start of the year.

However, he denied Jah lured him away from his wife, identified in the Thai media as “Por”, as he and his wife were already having problems and had started the process of getting a divorce.

“Jah is aware of our marital status as I have kept her advised every step of the way, and she received an assurance from the other side (Por) that we were mere friends, have gone our separate ways and are free to see new people,” he said.

However, Por later denied she had given her husband the all-clear to see someone else, and in fact had warned Jah to stay away. “We are still legally married and living under the same roof,” she said.

“I am beyond disappointed that, even though we are married, Tu has gone public and defended the other woman,” she said.

She had confronted her husband about his late nights, and he eventually admitted seeing Jah. He pledged to put clear the matter but she was shocked to discover later they were still seeing each other.

Jah, who took her turn last week to comment on her affair with Tu, after initially staying silent in deference to public concern over the stranded footballers in Chiang Rai, insisted Por had given her the all-clear.

“She told me they had started their divorce and she and her husband could see anyone they wanted. I don’t know what understandings they reached after that. But if I if knew they were still together I would never have got involved,” she said.

“I am not his minor wife, as I didn’t see anyone on the sly, or wrest him away. But I agree I may have moved too fast, and apologise for letting people down. We have taken a step back from our relationship for now.

“When we spoke on the phone, Por asked to settle their private matters first, but I reckon they probably split about June.

“I asked him three things: do you love each other, or have any plans to get back together? Do you have any kids, or plans to have them? And you have any business ventures together, or take any financial support from her family regularly? In all cases the answer was no.”

Jay denied Tu supported her financially, as she had been working 19 years and could look after herself. His estranged wife Por has yet to comment.

‘Leave them there to die’

Ohm
A former singer is unrepentant after criticising the 12 footballers and their coach who entered Tham Luang cave in Chiang Rai and failed to come out.

Former KPM awards contestant “Ohm” Thunyawut Juttupo, known for bucking social media trends, complained last week that the rescue mission launched for the Wild Boar football team, which has captured worldwide attention, had cost the taxpayer millions of baht and put the lives of many rescuers at risk.

“If they were my relatives I would let them die in there, because they insisted on entering despite the warning signs, and put the country to a lot of trouble,” he said.

The Manager/ASTV newspaper said netizens criticised his remarks as insensitive, but Ohm showed no remorse, and appeared to revel in the attention.
Boom
“He and his friends, posting at his Facebook, are impervious to criticism. They post critical remarks there, and also netizens’ words of encouragement offered to the kids, which they deride for their own enjoyment,” the website said.

Tack
Among his celebrity critics were actress Panadda “Boom” Wongphudee, who runs a charity which promotes good deeds, and DJ and actor Paranyu “Tack’’ Rojanavudtitham.

Boom and Tack dared him to repeat the claims in front of them. Ohm dismissed Boom as a meddler.

Tack said he was delighted when rescuers found the boys in the cave, and hoped to rub Ohm’s nose in it when they meet again. “I would like to smash your face, I really would,” Tack said in a spirited post.

Ohm was unperturbed. “Are you ‘in’ with the news, are you, P’ Tack? I never cursed those kids. Chill, man.”
