Footy star drops ball, net idol 'glasses' woman, Pu disarms loaded fan

Atit’s ex-lover demands payback
Atit
Football star Atit ‘Back’ Daosawang is in strife after his former girlfriend complained to police that he borrowed 230,000 baht from her and failed to pay it back.

After the woman, a fitness trainer, 35, went to Huai Khwang police, Back hurriedly sent a representative who handed over 220,000 in cash, borrowed from his Chiang Rai United football club.

Back, 26, also a member of the national football team, ran into trouble in April last year after the family of a sixth-form student at Assumption College complained he had abducted the girl and indecently assaulted her.

The teen’s mother said Back had lured her daughter, 17, to his home and attempted to drag her up to his bedroom. She managed to flee and alerted a security guard and a friend.

A month earlier, after he proclaimed an interest in actress Napapa ‘‘Patt’’ Tantrakul, young women who claimed to know the footballer came forward on social media with warnings that he likes borrowing from his girlfriends without paying the money back.

He was also keen on two-timing, they claimed.

Patt quickly cooled on the idea.

His latest victim, who declined to reveal her identity, said they were together for two to three months.

The first time Back borrowed money was on May 25, when she transferred 5,000 baht.

“He said he would pay me back but didn’t. He asked to borrow on another 33 occasions,’’ she told police.

Her friends warned her about the football star, and when she learned of others who had suffered the same treatment, tried asking for her money back.

He kept avoiding the matter, so she laid a complaint.

“I felt sorry for him. He wanted the money for his sick mum, or to meet general expenses. At first I didn’t know who he was, but discovered he had many followers on social media, and later learned he was a famous footballer,’’ she said.

Back offered to start paying back his debt after the two broke up. He transferred 10,000 baht to her initially and said he would make regular payments after that of 30,000 baht each. She also drew up a repayment contract for him to sign.

Club representative Roaj Putthakhoon said Back was saddened by the saga.

“He related the tale to the club, which lent him the money so he could pay back the debt and bring this episode to an end,” he said.

“The club agreed because he didn’t deceive anyone, and it wants to give him a chance to correct his behaviour. However, it has also warned him not to do it again and placed him on probation.

“It is easy to forget that Back is just a youngster who can get carried away with fame and money.

“He is part of the CR family, so we have decided to give him another chance rather than harming his career.”

Back has not commented on the saga.

DJ faces assault charges
DJ Anonnoi
A city DJ and net idol is facing charges of assault causing serious harm after striking a young woman in the face with a glass, leaving her with injuries needing 100 stitches.

Chuenjit “DJ Aonnoi” Taemeesak, 38, reported to Wang Thong Lang police last week after a beauty blogger and sister of the victim criticised her in a widely aired social media clip. The incident occurred at a bar in the Town in Town area early on July 25.

Blogger Peeraya “Erk-Erk” Rachatasuwong, 28, said the DJ’s group tried to cause trouble with her friends several times as they were about to head home. Finally the DJ struck her younger sister Pitch “Op” Rachatasuwong in the face with the glass, amid jeers from her friends.

DJ Aonnoi, appearing on television on Thursday after securing bail on the assault charges, said the incident started with a tussle over an e-cigarette and quickly escalated.

As she was leaving with her girlfriend, Koi, she noticed Op in the car park waiting for her. The two exchanged words and Op sprang at her. DJ Aonnoi, who was holding a glass at the time, thrust it outwards to protect herself, but struck the young woman in the face.

She said she left the pub holding the glass but denies she was drunk. “I forgot I was holding it. If I had meant her harm I could have thrown it. Instead, I acted in self-defence and cut my own hand in the process,” she said.

DJ Aonnoi said she and Koi returned to the pub without noticing the injuries she had inflicted on the victim, who later laid a police complaint. She had apologised to Op and her family.

Police, who released her on bail of 150,000 baht, are investigating.

Folk singer applauded after gun saga
Pu
Fans are praising folk singer Pongsit “Pu” Kamphee after he wrested a handgun off an overexcited patron at a pub in Amnat Charoen.

In a clip aired on the internet, a man in the audience is seen extending his hand across the stage for Pu to shake. A moment later, after getting no response, he points a handgun at him.

Pu promptly stops playing and thrusts himself towards the man to wrest the gun off him. He overpowers the man, who was taken away by security. Pu also had the crowd take his picture as evidence.

The fan who posted the clip asked how security at the pub could let in a patron who was armed. Netizens praised Pu’s cool demeanour and agreed security at the pub must have been lax.

Police have charged the man, identified as Fl Sgt 1st Class Poptrai Suwann, 48, with threatening with a weapon and carrying a weapon without good cause. The air force has launched an internal inquiry into the incident.

Fl Sgt 1st Class Poptrai, who has apologised for his conduct, said he was a fan of the singer and pulled out the gun in a moment of drunken excitement. He had wanted to hear the singer’s hit Meu Peun (Gunman).

Pu, who sings in the phuea chiwit rock-folk style, was performing one of his softer ballads, Rak Deow. The singer, who has yet to comment on the drama, has in the past declined to perform crowd favourite Meu Peun after it sparked violence at his concerts.
