Nott unimpressed, cop this, self love, pop forgives

TV host saga keeps raging
Nott
The road rage case involving former TV host Akanat “Nott” Ariyaritwikul refuses to die, with his lawyer filing mysterious papers before the court even as it passed judgement on Friday.

Songkran Atchariyasap, outspoken lawyer for Nott’s road rage victim, Kittisak “Boy” Singto, said Nott’s lawyer filed transcripts of interviews he and Boy’s mother had given in the case, which raises questions about whether Nott wants to take matters further.

The Bangkok South Criminal Court sentenced Nott and a friend to one year each, suspended for two years, for assaulting Boy on his motorcycle in the high-profile road rage case late last year.

Boy’s motorcycle sideswiped Nott’s Mini Cooper, angering the TV host who with his friend attacked Boy by the roadside, breaking his nose.

Nott also ordered Boy to prostrate himself before the Mini Cooper by way of apology, an incident filmed by onlookers which quickly went viral.

Mr Songkran said he was mystified as to why Nott’s lawyer would file the documents, as the criminal case should have come to an end.

Nott and his friend agreed to pay 180,000 baht in damages to Boy to settle their dispute in the Civil Court last month, which along with their admission of guilt played a part in the Criminal Court’s decision to let them off with a suspended sentence.

However, a police complaint which Nott filed against Boy for hitting his vehicle and allegedly fleeing the scene was still ongoing.

Yannawa police have urged prosecutors take the matter to court, while Boy has filed a formal plea in mitigation, saying he had already been filed 400 baht over the incident.
Adding insult to injury, Nott’s insurers on Wednesday sent Boy’s family a demand he pay 20,000 baht for damage to the Mini Cooper.

Boy’s mother, Suthira Hongthong, said she was unhappy to get the demand, as Nott had assured the family he would take no further action against Boy. They had cut the damages bill they originally sought against him from 200,000 baht.

Urging Nott to declare his intentions, Mr Songkran he and Boy’s family client would carry on fighting for a just end to the row.

Marriage declaration goes viral

A minor controversy over a young Buri Ram policeman’s internet declaration of marriage to his girlfriend has elevated both to minor celebrity status.

It comes amid revelations they like to help disadvantaged local kids who aspire to be police when they grow up.

Pol Cap Apichit “Mint” Pantaprateep declared on the internet last week he was prepared to marry his girlfriend if netizens gave him 100,000 “likes” first, setting off a minor storm with some netizens claiming he was demeaning women.

In the post, Pol Capt Apichit and girlfriend Mervina “Miw” Jaturachot are pictured alternately proposing to each other on bended knee.

“If I get 100,000 likes, I will ask my partner to marry me, and hurry to have kids so the world can see them in all their cuteness,” the post, shared to each other’s FB accounts, said.

After some netizens objected, Pol Capt Apichit, deputy inspector of investigation at Buri Ram’s Ban Dan station, came forward to apologise. He said he was merely teasing his girlfriend in fun.

“Before I posted it, I spoke to my girlfriend. I was having fun, as who would think we’d get 100,000 likes? Criticise me if you must, but please spare my girlfriend, as I feel sorry for her,” he said.

“As far as the likes are concerned, even I only pulled only a few thousand, I would still marry her.”

The declaration gained further publicity when a friend posted it to a well-known website. “The author is a policeman friend who likes to help kids who themselves want to be police but lack the money,” he wrote.

“He teaches them for free, provides them with a place to live, and when they are stressed he takes them out.”

Pol Capt Apichit said he rents a place in town so the kids, some of whom have no homes, have somewhere to live. He also buys them school books and food, with his girlfriend Miw also chipping in to help.

The pair published images of Pol Capt Apichit with his young charges. Miw added: “We hope to help 10 youngsters a year fulfil their dreams.”

Meanwhile, Pol Capt Apichit’s post declaring he would marry Miw if netizens gave him 100,000 likes has now topped the 19,000 likes mark. No word was to hand on when the pair plan to tie the knot.

Julie ‘did no harm to anyone’
Julie
The Face Thailand 3 contestant, model Wilawan “Julie” Anderson, is trying to keep her spirits up after images emerged on social media of her playing with herself.

Julie, 22, went before the media last week for the first time since the images surfaced to confirm it was her.

In the images, a young woman wearing pyjamas strikes sexy poses and eventually strips off.  Eager netizens pointed to a birthmark on the young woman’s chest and nose to draw the likeness with Julie, who initially declined to comment.

She appeared alongside Piyarat “Tae” Kaljareuk, who holds the rights to the talent show franchise, to confess it was her in the images.

Tae said Julie had discussed the matter with her family and she was ready to get back to work.

“She didn’t do any harm to anyone, and as far as I am concerned it’s in the past. I am giving her another chance. When she gets such opportunities in future, I hope she makes good use of them, and I will take care of her,” he said.

Julie, who ordained as a Buddhist nun for a week recently, she was still upset by the saga.
“I am trying to look on the bright side, because this thing will stay with me, and I have to carry on with my life. I was just 19 when it happened. Everything has been great in giving me strength,” she said.

No hard feelings, says singer
Pop
Singer Pongkul “Pop” Suebsueng says he is prepared to forgive the burglar who broke into his home last month and made off with 500,000 baht worth of goods.

Pop took to social media late last week to say that whatever the law holds in store for the culprit, who has yet to be caught, he hopes he does not cause any more mischief.

He believes the break-in at his Ramkhamhaeng home took place last weekend when he and his family were away.

“He was so thorough he even took the CCTV camera. He prised open a window close to our Chinese-style doors to get in. Plenty of my relatives live in the soi, but we had all gone on a trip to make merit for a friend,” the singer said.

“I lost three Leica cameras, and my mum lost a gold bracelet which my dad had bought her. “A design challenge when building the house was how to make the place open, airy and pleasant. I am sure he had a pleasant time when he let himself in to steal,” he joked.

The CCTV camera was working, though the thief quickly disabled it.

“I think it might have been a professional job. He saw we had a CCTV, and destroyed the WiFi. He stole the camera and the TV, everything which might be connected to the security system.’’

Pop said he was prepared to forgive the thief, no matter what happens next.

“I hope it doesn’t lead to bad things between us. If the law isn’t able to catch you, I hope you can use the goods you stole from me to look after your family well, and that you don’t add misery to anyone else’s life,” he said.

“While I am still in a state of shock over what happened, I still feel good, as everyone is expressing concern for my welfare and hoping things get better.”
