Sek's Sandwich, Jakjaan's dismay, Mai's minor melee

Rocker floats new love interest

Sandwich, Sek
Rocker Sek Loso's problems with his former wife have flared back to life in the wake of his suspended jail sentence for assaulting her former aide, after Sek posted a picture of him and a new love interest floating a krathong.

Wiphakorn "Kan" Sukpimai accused Sek of deceiving her after the Criminal Court on Thursday sentenced him to 15 months in jail, suspended, for assaulting her former aide, Chanokporn "Bee" Boonpeng, in April.

"It's not important how many hundreds or thousands of woman you have; but you should think of how your children feel. Today you were able to get off jail time because you tricked us into spinning a positive image for you. What an evil heart!" she wrote.

"You had Bee testify saying you were a good person even though you had assaulted her. She was happy not to pursue legal action because of who? Because of me!"

Kan, who denies jealousy played a part in her attack, said Sek had made a time to float a krathong with their youngest child, daughter London, aged six, on Loy Krathong night last week.

Sek failed to call, as he was too busy floating a krathong with his new love interest, Channel 7 actress Paphada "Sandwich" Chotikawanitch, 25.

Kan said Sek's shabby treatment of their daughter makes her realise that in his heart his conversion to decent family man and father was a charade.

She said she and the family had been tricked into helping him through his court ordeal, which at one point looked certain to end in jail time for the rocker, who has a history of drug problems and earlier admitted assaulting Kan herself.

Kan, who in July declared she and Sek had put their bitter divorce behind them, played a key role in helping Sek settle Bee's assault complaint in conciliation talks.

Kan helped mediate talks at the Criminal Court in Ratchada in October when the two sides were able to reach a deal.

Bee, a persistent critic of Sek's on social media, had demanded damages of 1.7 million baht, but in the end settled for 500,000 baht. Sentencing him, the court said it discounted Sek's sentence as credit for his admission of guilt and offer of compensation.

At the time of the attack, when the pair were still at odds, Kan posted an image of Sek kicking Bee, who was admitted to hospital with a broken left jaw.

After Sek and Kan made up, Kan turned on Bee, who helped run her record label business, but later fled over unpaid debts.

Despite his warming ties with Kan, Sek, 42, last week posted a picture on his Instagram of him and Sandwich floating a romantic krathong at his home.  It was the first time the pair had been pictured together. His court sentencing was to follow just days later.

Kan said London had hand-crafted a krathong which she hoped to float with her dad that night.  However, Sek, who was too busy with Sandwich, stood her up. She posted a picture of London's lonely looking krathong.

Kan said when she took London to school, parents and teachers who had seen the news about Sek and Sandwich asked if it was true Sek had a new woman in his life.

"Is it fitting now that you played with the kids' emotions, used them to suit your own ends? You are incapable of loving anyone; you only love yourself," she wrote.

The drama has forced Sandwich to come clean about her feelings for Sek. After her manager initially played down the pairing, insisting Sek and Sandwich were merely friends, late last week she admitted Sek had been seeing the actress for the past six months.

Her manager admitted Sandwich's family was worried, as Sek has a reputation for playing around. However, the two were seeing each other under the gaze of elders. Sandwich also knew Kan through her sideline clothes business, she said.

Reacting to his sentence, Sek insisted he never expected to end up in jail.

"This case brings to an end my court disputes, so I am unlikely to run into any more trouble," he said.

Sek said troubles with his former wife were inevitable whenever he started seeing someone new. -

2. Horror as sympathy exploited

Jakjaan
Actress Akhamsiri "Jakjaan" Suwanasuk says a couple who duped her into soliciting cash from fans eager to help a "struggling rice farmer family" which didn't in fact exist have left her feeling dismayed and disheartened.

The Channel 7 actress on Friday joined police in presenting to the media the couple, who were caught in the Rangsit area after a court earlier issued a court warrant for the arrest of one of the perpetrators.

Noppajorn Panniyom, 23, a security guard, and his girlfriend, Kanjananuth Udomsak, 23, admitted conspiring to swindle Jakjaan after impersonating a couple of struggling rice farmers and persuading Jakjaan to help them out of a financial scrape.

Noppajorn
Jakjaan, who broke down in tears, says she is horrified the couple could exploit public sympathy to make a living, but welcomed their pledge to pay compensation for those affected.

Writing on Instagram on Nov 9, Jakjaan said a struggling rice farmer called "Jame" had called her in tears claiming creditors were closing in and forcing them to sell their rice at ruinous prices. Rice farmers have been struggling with low prices at the mill, forcing some to sell via the internet.

Ms Kanjananuth said she concocted the scheme herself and originally hoped to merely ask Jakjaan for a loan. She was out of work and they struggled to survive on her boyfriend's income alone. She admitted the rice did not exist.

The plot unfolded after the Channel 7 actress unwittingly advertised their ''rice" for sale on her Instagram and left a contact number for those interested in buying it.  She said she had persuaded the creditors to delay settling the debt.

The public responded enthusiastically, with 35 people transferring more than 80,000 baht to "Jame", placing orders for two tonnes of rice. Days later, the rice had still not arrived, and calls went unanswered.

Jakjaan, who laid a complaint with Metropolitan Division 3 police in Bangkok, said "Jame" had disappeared after contacting her to say the rice had been sold out.

Jakjaan also brought with her the owner of the bank account into which the funds were transferred, city businesswoman Amonlada Kanmol.

She said an employee, thought to Mr Noppajorn, disappeared on Nov 11. She routinely lent him her ATM card, which he would use to withdraw cash every month as he had no account of his own.

Police obtained CCTV footage of him withdrawing cash near Rom Klao police station on Nov 10 and on Thursday the Min Buri court issued a warrant for his arrest.

Posting an identikit image of Noppajorn, Jakjaan appealed to the public for clues before they were finally caught on Friday afternoon.

The actress said she was sorry her rice help appeal had resulted in the public losing out. "Normally I have a policy of avoiding cash transactions with fans, but they called four or five times over a couple of days, and seemed so desperate," she said. She has pledged to help compensate those who lost out. -

3. Crowds swell for mourning trinkets

Mai
Actress "Mai" Davika Hoorne has played down a crowd melee at Sanam Luang when she and another actress turned up to give away items to help Thais mourn for the King.

Mai, who opened up about the her ordeal last week, said she and actress friend Pimchanok "Baifern" Luevisadpaibul turned up late last month to give away 360 black T-shirts and 890 black ribbons, as Thais pay their respects to His Majesty the late King.

The crowd, who knew they were coming, rushed at the pair before they had a chance to give away their goods. A video clip of the incident shows Mai being pushed and shoved, as her handlers appealed for calm.

Officials at the scene had to call off the giveaway, after the swelling crowds grew too much, amid reports some mourners fainted. They decided to move the pair somewhere else, where the giveaway proceeded more quietly.

Mai played down the ruckus, admitting she and her party did not know where to set up their boxes when they arrived at the tent on the Sanam Luang grounds. She found the experience scary, but it would not put her off doing good deeds again.

"I intend to go back for another visit, but the public is unlikely to see me next time, as I will go quietly. However, I do want to pay respects to our father," she said, referring to the King.
