Anant 'did no arm', out of step, Sek takes the plunge

Actor rejects claims he swindled man

Arm
Channel 5 actor and model Anant "Arm" Niyomdecha has hit back at claims he duped a Pathum Thani man into sending him 105,000 baht for a luxury car he never intended to sell.

He claimed Chokchai Hongthong, 33, who earlier complained to Klong Luang police in Pathum Thani about a car purchase dispute involving the actor, threatened to have him abducted if he did not help pay his football debts.

Arm, 25, said he knew nothing about Mr Chokchai's claims that they had entered a deal in which he would sell him a white Series 3 BMW for 450,000 baht. He went to Huay Kwang police on Thursday, alleging Mr Chokchai had given a false statement to the officers in Pathum Thani and threatened him harm.

He said he met Mr Chokchai through a friend a month ago. ‘‘He said he was a gambler, and owed 100,000 baht on football. He asked me to pay the debt or he would send a heavy around to abduct me," Arm said, adding he refused the demand.

"The Mercedes he talks about belongs to a friend who is overseas. I have never received any money from him, or thought of defrauding anyone, as I am busy making TV lakorns," he said.

Earlier, Mr Chokchai told police he contacted Arm after he heard he was selling cars reclaimed after their previous owners’ payments fell through. A friend who knew that he wanted to buy a vehicle had recommended the actor.

The actor sent him pictures of many models, and he settled for the white BMW. Arm said he would have to discuss the matter with his mother, and they reached a deal in which Mr Chokchai would pay half up front, and pay off the rest by loan.

"Before I took receipt of the car, Arm contacted me later saying he wanted to gamble on the football, but didn't want to give away his identity," Mr Chokchai said.

"Arm had me send 20,000 baht the first time, and 10,000 baht the second time to a Facebook site which takes football bets.

"I trusted him, and thought the money was all part of my down payment, so it would be okay.

"A day later, Arm contacted him saying he had the car, but I would have to send 30,000 baht to get the registration done. We agreed I would send just 15,000 baht, but he called back wanting another 20,000 baht for the deposit. The total from my down payment now came to 65,000," he said.

Later, Arm called saying Mr Chokchai could pick up the car at the Land Transport Department, but also asked for another 40,000 baht, as he was in urgent need of money.

"I sent the money, and he said I could pick up the car at his condo," Mr Chokchai said.

"I turned up, and the car still wasn't there. I waited until that night, when Arm asked for another 100,000 baht, and offered to deliver the vehicle himself.

"I started to get suspicious, and asked to see the car. After I went home, we spoke on Line, and it became clear there was no car. He told me he had spent the money, and dared me to lay a complaint with police, as he wasn't scared.’’ Police are investigating. -

2. Director says sorry for dance slam

Ma-Daew
Producer and director Chookiat "Ma-Deaw" Sakveerakul has apologised for criticising the lead actress in a dance show, saying he is confident the pair can still work together, even though he has doubts about her dancing skills.

Ma-Deaw last week attacked the lead actress in Grammy TV's teen dance show, Slam Dance, which he is producing, saying she turned up late for a costume fitting and publicity session, left early, and most importantly, couldn't dance her steps.

He declared he was now looking to replace her, saying an actress with dancing experience would be a plus. The series opens next February.

He didn’t name her, but netizens concluded he was talking about actress Pimchanok "Baifern"  Luevisadpaibul, whose outspoken manager, "Klao" Nam Praw, quickly sprang to her defence.

"Just who is he speaking for?" she asked about Ma-Deaw's comments. "He might be the producer, but we are all Grammy's employees, and they're sticking by Baifern," she declared.

Klao said she had spoken to Grammy TV, who confirmed they had no plans to replace Baifern. "They approached us about starring in the show, and we told them at the outset Baifern was not a professional dancer. They said they would use stand-ins for key scenes," she said.

The cast was called in to try on costumes and film a publicity clip. In his post, Ma-Deaw said the actress turned up late, but sent her people along first to make excuses. He complained they also left early before he had a chance to finish filming.

Klao said filming of the male lead shot over time, which meant Baifern couldn't get all her scenes done.

"We started the day at 11am and we were supposed to leave at 7pm, as we had another work engagement. The producers asked us at the last minute if we could stay until 11pm, but it wasn't possible," she said.

"If Ma-Deaw has a problem he should address it with us directly, not through social media. It speaks to his emotional and professional standing. I am not sure what we have done to offend him. I didn't think he would go this far, harming someone in the same industry."

Speaking later, Ma-Deaw said he was sorry for losing his cool, and agreed Baifern should be given another chance. -

3. Wild man plunges right in

Sek, right
Rocker Sek Loso's new love says the pair have skipped the puppy love stage and plunged straight into an adult-style relationship.

Opening up about her pairing with wild man Sek, Channel 7 actress Paphada "Sandwich" Chotikawanitch, 25, said she wasn't worried about his reputation as a serial flirt, nor his problems with his former wife, as the two were still getting to know each other.

Sandwich
"We didn't click straight away, but when we started talking, it felt right, and it went on from there," she said.

"P Sek has a good outlook and offered advice on the entertainment industry and life in general."

The two met through a friend about four months ago. Sek declared they were a couple after publishing a picture of him and Sandwich floating a kratong on Loy Krathong night earlier this month.

Publicity over the new woman in Sek's life angered his former wife, Wiphakorn "Kan" Sukpimai, who attacked him on social media.

Undeterred by the publicity, Sandwich said she tries not to meddle in Sek's personal life.

"Sek told me he broke up with her two years ago," she said. "I have seen the news, but it is a matter for his family."

Sandwich admitted her bosses at Channel 7 had warned her to be careful, but says her parents are relaxed about Sek, despite his reputation for drugs and history of beating women.

"They advised me to keep getting to know him, and added there was no rush. They know I am old enough to make up my own mind," she said.

"There was no puppy love stuff, as we view each other as adults. The 17-year age gap shouldn't make much difference, as they say love has no boundaries.

"He's not a wild man or rough as I had assumed; in fact, he's well mannered, kind, and teaches me about the importance of fighting on in life.''

Speaking to reporters, Sek said Sandwich will have to learn to tolerate his rocker’s wild ways.

"I warn all women that if they want to stay with me they must be tolerant. As a rocker, I find many women want to enter my life. Sandwich says she can handle it," he said.

"No woman in my life has ever taken my dog to the vet or made my bed, but she does," he said, explaining her appeal.

Kan had sent him hostile Line messages since news of his relationship with Sandwich broke, but he put the fuss down to jealousy.

"She has no right to feel that way, as we are not together any more, just friends. I don't think Kan will ever cut her ties with me completely, as none of the women in my life ever do," he said.
