On bended knees

Ton Horm, Tack
DJ and actor Paranyu “Tack” Rojanavudtitham is wondering how to match the extravagant apology offered by his girlfriend last week for a recent misunderstanding, after he was allegedly caught seeing another girl.

Notorious Romeo Tack is in the bad books of his girlfriend, brassy DJ Sakoltala “Ton Horm” Tianpairojt, after a young presenter posted on social media an intimate picture of her getting friendly with Tack at her city condo.

Making matters worse, Tack’s young friend in the photograph, presenter Gao Darikahh, criticised Ton Horm in an accompanying caption. Ton Horm, who only days ago made an extravagant and well publicised apology to Tack for calling off their relationship abruptly, was not amused.

“We haven’t spoken for two days, but I’m not worried about it,” Tack said on Friday. “If I can’t make it work, then it ends here. However, if I can possibly keep it going, I will. Our feelings towards each other haven’t changed,” Tack said, referring to Ton Horm.

In happier days, Ton Horm posted a picture of her toothbrush sitting alongside Tack’s, with the two linked by a toothpaste smile. After the picture with Gao surfaced, Ton Horm told an interviewer she was unlikely to clean her teeth with the same toothbrush any more.

“Never mind. She can always unblock me on Instagram, and she can always buy a new toothbrush,” Tack said, shrugging off the implied message that the two were as good as finished.

Asked about reports he had met Gao at a city shopping mall last week, Tack owned up, but insisted the pair were merely like brother and sister.

He admitted visiting Gao in her condo on the night they took their picture together, but says he went with friends. “I didn’t drop off Ton Horm at her place then double back to see Gao at her condo, the way some reports claim,” he said.

As for an incriminating chequered shirt he was spotted wearing in the picture with Gao, and on the same day as he met Ton Horm, Tack said he has plenty of chequered shirts in his wardrobe, and urged his fans not to read too much into it.

“I told Gao that as Ton Horm’s junior, she had no right to criticise her the way she did. She has now offered an apology,” he said.

“I don’t know how things will end up with Ton Horm, or what kind of apology I will have to offer. I have been busy with work, but will know what to do when we finally get a chance to talk,” he said.

Ton Horm was herself in strife on social media last week after she posted a video of herself making an extravagant apology to Tack at his condo.

The outspoken DJ dressed up as a Thai folk dancer, complete with hair in a bun and white face paint. She crawled across the floor on her knees, while holding a floral arrangement with a lit joss stuck on top.

Critics said her apology went overboard, and asked if she would do the same for her parents if she did something wrong.

“I would have to do something truly bad to go down on my feet before my parents,” she agreed last week. “I look after my parents just fine, you don’t need to worry about us.”

Ton Horm performed the apology before a bemused looking Tack, who is wearing a towel around his waist. “Tack himself suggested I get down on my feet and apologise, though he was making fun of me when he said it.

“Earlier, I had told him via the Line app that I wanted to stop seeing him, after we fell out over another matter.

“When he got home from work he found my message and blocked me on social media.

“I crawled across the floor to say sorry just in fun. Things improved after that,” she said.

Keep on rockin’

Nui
Rocker Ampon “Nui” Lampoon says he is no hurry to join a boycott of European-made products to show his support for the coup, as he has personal interests at stake.

Some celebrities who back the coup have urged a boycott of European and US-made products, after they protested against the military seizing power.

Nui backed the People’s Democratic Reform Committee which sought to bring down the last government, a feat finally accomplished by the coup-makers.

The rocker said that as the owner of a European-made car that he is still paying off, he can’t in good conscience join the campaign. “I’m not burning EU products, or boycotting them.

I’m driving a European car, and still paying it off. Finding enough money to discharge my debt is hard work,” he said on Facebook.

One actor who joined the campaign is Channel 3 actor Sorawit “Mor Kong” Suboon.

He told his fans: “I’d like to announce that I’m only going on holidays in Asia. Not setting foot in Europe won’t change our lives. Which can still carry on, even if we don’t use their products or brand-name goods …”

Mor Kong, who like Nui backed the PDRC, posted a picture of himself holidaying at an Asian destination.

Unkind souls quickly pencilled in a few remarks on the image, and copied it to social media. “His sunglasses are from Europe, as is his jacket. He’s wearing American jeans, and shoes from New Balance,” they said.

Mor Kong has yet to comment.

Hey you, mister
Man, Baitoey
Actress and singer Suteewan “Baitoey” Thaveesin has no reason to be ashamed of her poor English, her actor and DJ boyfriend says.

Pattanapol “Man” Kunchorn Na Ayutthaya has come out to defend Baitoey from internet critics, who say she tries to portray herself as an expert in English when her own written remarks on the internet suggest otherwise.

Man, who says the comments about Baitoey’s English are just the tip of a wave of abuse she has suffered at the hands of internet critics in recent months, says her English, like her Thai, is hardly perfect, but nor is anyone else’s.

“Her critics say we should be more patriotic by sticking to Thai, especially if we can’t get the English right. But who speaks either language perfectly? We all make mistakes,” he said.

Baitoey’s critics, who have set up an anti-Baitoey Facebook site, like picking apart her every utterance, so much so the sexy singer seldom writes on social media any more, Man says.

“I have to admit feeling a little peeved that her label, RS Entertainment, does not come out to defend her. They argue Baitoey should just do nothing and wait for the fuss to blow over,” he said.

“But she still has more fans than she does critics, so can keep her head up,” he said.

Flash in the pan

Jamie
Veteran actress Jamie Bouher is saying sorry to the public after a dress she wore to a fashion show showed off too much flesh.

Apologising for offending Thai morals, Jamie said she thought the dress she wore to the Siam Dara Star Awards last week was actually less revealing than an outfit she wore to a previous fashion outing.

The black dress is cut along the right leg virtually up to the waist band. It swept aside to reveal a shaven pubic area and black G-string that glittered in the light.

“I tend to focus on the camera when I am striking poses. I didn’t realise I was showing so much flesh,” she said.

Ironically, Jamie said reporters asked her why she was wearing such a demure outfit. “I spent eight hours choosing it, and no one had remarked previously that it was too revealing,” she said.

As austere academics criticised her choice of attire, some Thais on the internet donned similarly revealing outfits to mimic her daring pose. Jamie, however, insisted she didn’t want to serve as a role model for youth.

“The only people calling me are reporters, who want me to comment on the fuss. No one has called with any new offers of work,” she said ruefully.
