Actor "Tono'' Kumvilaisak is weathering a storm of criticism about his lightning engagement to outspoken actress Pattarida "Tangmo'' Patcharaweerapong.
As Tono kept out of the public gaze for a second week since the couple were engaged, close friends complained that Tono kept them in the dark about his plans.
About 50 people gathered for the Dec 11 ceremony at a photographic studio in the city, made up to look like a church.
The ceremony bore many of the hallmarks of an actual marriage, with Tangmo wearing a bridal dress, and throwing a bouquet of flowers at the guests.
The couple, who released a commercial video of the event, also exchanged vows in front of a priest, as Tono announced he was converting from Buddhism to Christianity, to bring his religion in keeping with that of his betrothed.
Since the video was released to their shocked fans, who had no inkling the engagement was coming, the couple have apologised for failing to invite more of their friends. They said they wanted to keep it intimate.
Tono is close to actors Napat "Gun'' Injaiuea and Ruangrit "Rit'' Siripanit, who were co-finalists with Tono on The Star talent quest. Tono now appears with Gun is the sitcom, Look Pee Look Nong.

"I heard about it like everyone else on social media,'' said Gun, who admits he feels peeved to have been left out of the loop.
"Some of the other cast were in tears, as they wonder why he said nothing,'' he said.
Tono's boss Takonkiat "Boy'' Weerawan, head of Exact Entertainment, said he also feels put out, though in his case at least he was told.
He said Tono contacted him early this month to say he was getting engaged, and called him with a reminder the day before.
"I was tied up in a meeting, so couldn't go, which is a shame, as I would like to have given the happy couple my blessing,'' he said.
"Today's young ones appear to have a problem understanding social manners - what to do, and not to do. It's not confined to Tono, but can be seen all over,'' he mused.

"He's changed a lot. Before, he was happy and cheerful. These days he tends to be solemn and quiet, though he could be worried about all the negative coverage they receive,'' he said.
Tono and Tangmo, regulars on the anti-government protest stage, have struggled to gain fanclub acceptance of their union since they started dating six months ago.
"He's still a young kid, so his hormones are raging through his body,'' Oudd said.
"He makes decisions based on emotion. But I know he loves this woman, and he treats all the women he loves with respect.'' Oudd said he was worried about how the news would affect Tono's career.
Tangmo, meanwhile, is busy responding to upset fans on the internet, even entering a slanging match with a journalist.
Poomipat "Tao TV Pool'' Thamapan said the couple's decision left him confused, to which Tangmo replied tartly: "Don't be confused. If you study up on the Christian religion, you will find a hallmark of marriage is registration, and a wedding to celebrate. We held neither.''
Tangmo and Tao swapped insults on social media, before the journalist threatened legal action if the abuse went any further.
In another exchange, one fan asked Tangmo timorously: "I am sorry for mentioning it, but an engagement ceremony is a once in a lifetime thing - where were Tono's friends Rit and Gun?''
Tangmo replied: "Our concept was to invite people who had watched us develop us as a couple, and given us encouragement.
"There's always the wedding anyway. It was just for family. We didn't have a big enough budget to invite the whole industry.'' -

Actress Patcharin "Namfon'' Jukrairuanpol has stopped seeing actor Pasut "Art'' Banyam, though denies it's because she was unfaithful.
Namfon admits she drew close to actor Ekkaphong "First'' Jongkesakorn during an earlier troubled patch with Art, though denies their brief liaison played a big part in their break-up. Namfon and First acted together recently in a TV lakorn.
"It's about us, no one else. First wasn't part of it,'' she said last week, referring to their mutual decision to call it quits. Namfon and Art were together for almost six years.
Their relationship came under strain this month with the anonymous release of two sound clips in which a woman who claims to be First's girlfriend called Namfon and accused her of straying. Namfon apologises to the caller.
Asked to comment, Art said he had cleared the air with her and First before the clips were released.
"I didn't leak the clips. I'm man enough to want to protect the women in my life, not attack them. I was a wayward youth, but I was able to clear the air with both Namfon and First,'' he said at the time.
"If I wasn't able to clear the air as well as I did, First wouldn't be able to work. In fact, he wouldn't be around on this Earth,'' he said, referring to his own jealous streak.
Art admitted, however, that he had trouble listening to the clips, as they hurt his feelings. The strain in the couple's relationship stemmed from other irritants, he said, such as Namfon's habit of travelling for hours without bothering to let him know she was safe.
For his part, First admitted he took his friendship with Namfon too far, to the point where Art grew jealous. "We spoke on the phone and on Line about general stuff, but so often that Art began to feel unhappy,'' he said.
However, he insisted he did not know the woman speaking in the clip.
"I have never had a girlfriend, so I don't know why she mentioned my name,'' he said.
By last week when reporters spoke to her at a city function, Namfon admitted her relationship with Art was now over.
"It ended happily. We have downgraded the status of our relationship to mere friends, and can still work together. I have no regrets, even though we once talked of marriage. I'm trying to focus on the good times we shared,'' she said.
It was too early to open her heart to anyone else.
Art said he was initially reluctant to accept Namfon's decision to stop seeing him, but now knows he has no choice. "I regret the loss of that time we spent together. I can't say if we will get together again,'' he said, admitting he felt dreadful. -

Actress Preechaya "Ice'' Pongthananikorn is recovering in hospital after her vehicle hit the back of a refrigerated truck.
Ice, 23, suffered a broken right clavicle, punctured lung and broken rib in the accident at the Ratchadaphisek Road-Sutthisan intersection early on Dec 14. Doctors say she will be out of work for weeks.
She was hurrying to the set of her soap opera in Nonthaburi and approached the intersection at speed. Other motorists had stopped at the red light signal, but she could not brake in time.
Ice lost control of her vehicle, and hit the back of the six-wheel truck.
Speaking from Samitivej Hospital where she is being treated, Ice is warning her fans of the importance of wearing a seat-belt.
"I was in a hurry, so didn't wear a seat-belt. I was afraid I wouldn't get there on time, and wasn't sure of the direction. I was also trying to read a map.
"I can barely move my body, and even raising my arm is a struggle. My whole right side hurts. It'll be a while before I drive again,'' she added.
