FAMILY MISFORTUNES, MUNIFICENT MIKE, THE FAME BLAME GAME

Kelly, Green

A rising Channel 7 talent is facing allegations she has spurned her own family after news broke of a legal battle between her father and her actor lover.

Atsadaporn "Green"Siriwattanakul (Maya Muk) is caught in the middle of a legal row between her boyfriend, actor Rattapong "Kelly" Thanapat, and her father, which is now heading to court.

Kelly is suing Green's father for defamation after he sent a series of legal letters to Kelly's employer,Channel 7, asking his bosses to intervene in their personal dispute.

A court has called both parties together for the first hearing on May 20.

Green's father, Chatrirath, has asked Kelly to take a step back from his daughter's life until she finishes her university studies. He insists he is not standing in the way of their love, despite the age difference Kelly is 19 years Green's senior and that once she graduates, she can do what she likes.

Chatrirath
Kelly, 42, however, says the relentless campaign of legal letters that Mr Chatrirath has sent to Channel 7 risks harming his career. He took defamation action to salvage his honour after Mr Chatrirath threatened him once too often, he said last week.

"This is a private dispute, and I amworried about the effect it will have on Green, who is caught in the middle," he said.

Kelly was forced to come forward after news of his 10-month dispute with Green's father broke on the internet.
Netizens say Green has fallen for her boyfriend so much she has forgotten her duty to her parents.

"How can you choose between your family and your boyfriend?"they asked."Thais value the family first. You're an ungrateful child."

By the middle of the week, Kelly was forced to clarify his stance, despite earlier asking the public to wait until the court battle began.

"Green is standing next to me in that press interview, but that doesn't mean she has taken my side against her father," he insisted.

"We just happened to be at the same function."

He denied reports he had whisked Green away to live with him, insisting she was still staying at her university dorm.

"She doesn't live with me but with her student friends. She hasn't done anything bad," he said.

Speaking on television, Mr Chatrirath denied threatening Kelly, and said he simply wanted to do what is best for his daughter.

"I am sure he loves you 100%," he said, in a message directed at Green."So why can't he wait just one more year for you to finish your studies?

"I don't want to stand in the way of your relationship. But love is about more than just two people. It must include family as well.

"Taking legal action is a serious step. I think you should apologise to your parents,"he said, referring to Kelly.

"They are the ones who are feeling bothered.Everything your lawyer says is lies. But I will not counter-sue, as there's no point."

Mr Chatrirath admitted he may have been too strict with his daughter, and was now paying the price. He and Kelly had clashed after Kelly took Green out to celebrate Songkran when in his view she should have been studying. Kelly had also taken Mr Chatrirath's daughter overseas.

"I asked him to obey the rules of my house, but he flouted them," he said.

When he asked to talk, Kelly refused, or put Green on the line instead.

"I wondered what kind of man this is, if he would get his girlfriend to speak for him instead."

At a recent industry awards ceremony in which Green was honoured, Mr Chatrirath said he turned up to congratulate his daughter. Kelly refused to acknowledge him and walked away.

Asked whether she had chosen her boyfriend over Kelly, Green denied she has taken sides.

"I do wish dad would just stop, for once. I hope the two can find some way to sit down and discuss their differences," she offered meekly, claiming she had yet to discuss the row with her parents.

"I am trying to focus on work and my studies, and on keeping myself happy." -

Mike, 'Grandma'
Singer Pirat "Mike" Nitipaisalkul says he will do whatever he can to restore the smile to a face of a beggar he knows in Siam.

Mike last week appealed to charities for help after a grandmother beggar he met on at the footbridge of the BTS station in Siam suffered a steep decline in her health.

A fan took a picture of the young singer talking to the old woman, and sent it to a friend, who published it on Instagram.

Grammy singer Mike later republished the images on his own IG and Facebook site, asking fans to help him find a way to alleviate the old woman's plight.

"I help her sell tissues and sweets.I have also helped her a little with general expenses such as rent, and the cost of her medicine," he said.

'Grandma'
"But this is not a place where she belongs. She has a bone disease, A stomach ailment and diabetes. Grandma has a daughter, but she's getting on too," he added.

Mike said that when he first met "Grandma" two years ago, her rent was 1,000 baht a month."On top of that she must pay the power bill, water and food," he said.

"The rent has increased to 3,000 baht since I have known her, which seems steep," he said.

"Grandma's health has deteriorated dramatically in the past month, but I'm happy she still remembers me ... she can still smile, though not as brightly as before.

"In the past I gave her a couple of thousand baht. This time I feel I should do more, so I'm contacting charities. I've looked at many places, but want somewhere that will look after her well.

Netizens have praised Mike for his big heart, but the young singer says he is not interested in acclaim.

"Someone is bound to claim I'm doing this for the sake of my own image. I don't care. At least I can help someone in need," he said. -

Amie, Tack
Model Omsawan "Amie" Sirikittirat is suing a DJ and occasional actor who accused her of trying to leach off his fame.

Amie, under public scrutiny since she admitted to a brief career acting in erotic movies, last week filed a police complaint against Paranyu "Tack" Rojanavudtitham, who criticised her on the internet.

Amie has sprung to prominence since alerting police to a break-in at her house by her former boyfriend, tearaway Taiwanese model and singer Howard Wang.

The model has ironically found herself under criticism for exploiting the drama to boost her own public profile.

In one interview, Amie said had had flings with 10 celebrities, without naming them.

Reporters approached a handful of actors, including Phupoom "Ken" Pongpanu, Warintorn "Grate" Panhakarn and Veraparb "Vee"Suparbpaiboon, all of whom denied knowing Amie.

They also asked Tack, who said he was surprised to read reports linking him to the actress.

"We appeared on a TV show together once, but that's it," he said on Instagram.

"Let me say this. Just stay as you are. Don't try to leach off my name.If you want fame or reputation, you will have to earn it yourself. Don't use other people to help you get there."

Amie claimed Tack urged his fans to attack her on the internet, and criticised her repeatedly.

"I said I had been in the news with 10 leading men. Why didn't they come out to criticise me the way he did? Thanks to Vee, Ken and Grate for coming out to say they didn't know me. That's all he had to say,and that would have been it. Instead,he had to be unpleasant," she said.

Amie's mother Bunyang Sawaengsri accompanied her to Lat Phrao police station to make her complaint.

In the wake of publicity over her complaint about Howard, Amie admitted appearing in two erotic movies five years ago, but says she did it to help her mother pay off one million baht in gambling debts.

Mrs Bunyang, who lives in Surin, said she was upset when she learned about her daughter's past.

"People used to ask me how Amie entered the industry. I said I didn't know. All I knew was that every time I was in trouble and asked for help, she found the money I needed," she said in tears.

"At first I had a go at her, but now I feel more relaxed. She didn't do anything bad, or harm anyone, so I am happy."

Police are investigating the complaint.
