Nathan |
Former teen sensation Nathan says he was picking up his uncle at Suvarnabhumi airport recently when he was approached on a motorcycle by two men claiming to be police.
"They flashed their ID for just a few seconds and asked to inspect my bag,'' Nathan said.
"I took a close look at them and realised they were imposters.''
Nathan says the incident occurred between the airport and the bus terminal.
"I raised a hue and cry and walked away. Later, I asked a cleaner in the area who said she had never seen the men before, which confirms my suspicions.
"I didn't thump them, though security cameras in the area would probably show us tussling over my bag,'' he said.
"I told them I was Nathan Oman. They looked at me and said they didn't know me.
"But as I shouted louder and louder, I drew the attention of people in the area. The police imposters took fright and sped off on their bike,'' he said.
Nathan says he may lay a police complaint once he returns from a trip to Pattaya.
The faded singer, meanwhile, says he hasn't given up hope that he will find the person of his dreams.
Nathan, who is on the comeback trail since his release from prison last year, has released his first single as he attempts to reprise his early career as a performer.
Krai Sak Khon Neung talks about his life since his release from Loei prison after serving eight months for swindling more than 700,000 baht from Sitthiphon Khot-udomphon, a dessert seller in Loei's Chiang Khan district, who is still battling to pay off debts incurred on his behalf.
In the music video for the song, posted on YouTube, Nathan appears mainly in a series of still images taken on his mobile phone.
The former RS Promotion singer, who has yet to sign with a label for his latest singing endeavours, says he recorded it with a band in Maha Sarakham province.
"It's about my feelings since being released,'' he said in Bangkok last week to announce the single's launch.
"It says that I still have hopes and dreams that, among the more than 60 million people in our country, I will still find someone who understands me, and quietly fancies me,'' he said.
When he is not singing, Nathan says he is working on a book about life inside prison, based on interviews with inmates. He is also acting as adviser on a biographical, self-titled movie about his life, produced by Nuj Chawala and his former manager Anucha "Cee'' Langprasert.
"I don't act in it, but keep an eye on the production and script, which portrays my life, opens up the entertainment industry, and explains the secondary title - secrets, deceptions and lies,'' he said.
Nathan is living with his uncle, who owns a hotel in Pattaya.
Shortly before his conviction last year Nathan admitted that he had spun exotic stories about himself to persuade a string of victims to part with their money.
These included claims that he was half-Nepalese, multilingual and was acting in a Hollywood blockbuster set in the Middle East about his rocky childhood and path to stardom. -

Sexy model Lakana "Oom'' Wattanawongsiri says she is surprised by how
big her breasts look in a sporty cover shoot for a men's magazine.
Friends are teasing Oom after she appeared on the front cover of Maxim wearing a cutaway singlet, revealing her lower breasts. She is holding a football to mark the Euro 2012 football tournament, which ends today.
Oom says she wore silicone to force her breasts together, but even she was surprised by how big they look.
"Fans are teasing me, saying Oom has three footballs,'' she said last week.
"Normally they cut away the top of my singlet to show the top of my breasts. This time, just for something different, they cut away the bottom,'' she explained.
"I'm not really that big, but when I wore the silicone to force my breasts together, I ended up looking huge,'' she said. -

Actor Jason Young's decision to enter the monkhood for life has
surprised his fiancee, Darika Chokota.
The two announced their engagement at a function in Bangkok in late March.
Jason said he wanted to enter the monkhood for a month to make merit to his deceased parents.
However, after a month in saffron robes, he decided that he wanted to pursue religion as his life's calling, and asked Darika if he could call off the engagement.
Darika, who is Indian by birth and a Buddhist, went before reporters last week to describe her reaction to the news. She also read a prepared statement by Jason, who entered the monkhood in Chiang Mai, but plans to travel to Canada to pursue his religious studies next month.
"I am sorry Phra Jason cannot be here today - but he is no longer of
this [earthly] world,'' Darika told reporters.
Darika, whose own family are keen adherents of Buddhism, met Jason at a spiritual retreat. She said that just as the pair met through Buddhism, so are they parting ways as a betrothed couple through Buddhism - however, she does not feel bitter.
"I was surprised when he told me. But when I recovered my composure, I realised that this was an opportunity to make merit. Jason need not worry any more. I will release him from his engagement promise so he can pursue his calling,'' she said.
"I don't have regrets. If anything, Jason has given me an opportunity to make a sacrifice.
"In fact, I rejoice in his good fortune. He will have many opportunities to teach others about religion. I want him to stop worrying. He can stay in the monkhood for as long as he likes, to pass down the word of Buddhism just as he wishes. Renouncing his engagement vow will make him happy.
"For my part, I have to stay in the earthly world, as I have duties to perform ... as a teacher, and a good daughter to my parents,'' she said.
She and Jason had planned to marry by the end of the year.
"I can't say that it has put me off love, as I have never shared a life with anyone. But even though we can't be together as a couple, we still part as soul mates,'' she said.
In his statement, Jason said he wanted to thank Darika and her family for making such a painful sacrifice on his behalf.
"They did not object, even though they are likely to meet with repercussions from those around them. They were prepared to face down such obstacles for the sake of our religion, and to share in my good fortune,'' he said.
