Tak |
Tak, known in the popular press as "volcano boobs'', has been seen little in the past year as she turned down work to care for her ailing mother. Her mother, who has seven diseases, is now on the mend.
While she was away, men who had heard she was caring for her mother came forward with offers of financial support - only to be rebuffed.
"They assumed we were hard up for cash. In fact, I had money saved, so we were able to fall back on that to meet my mother's medical expenses.
"Plenty of these short-sighted types came forward, assuming I would have to rely on a man for financial support.
"I never asked for anyone's help; all I said in the media was that my mother was sick. They ended up with red faces, the lot of them.
"I turned them all down. I didn't resent the men for making the offers or regarding me as some plaything, as they were from outside the industry.
"But once was enough. If they come back for a second attempt, I will chase them away,'' she joked.
Tak, better known for her movie roles, has now taken on a role in a TV soap, which will mark her return to the small screen for the first time in eight years. She has snagged a role in Saow Noi, for Exact Entertainment.
Tak, who turns 27 next month, says she was taken aback to be offered the role of a mother, as she believes she is still too young.
"A foster or adoptive mother to a young man, as I will play, is still far preferable to a birth mother to someone that age, so I suppose it's not too bad,'' she joked.
"I only choose roles that I think my fans would be interested to see me play,'' she said. The cast and crew gathered for a ceremony to start the production last week. -

Two celebrities who admit they look as different as chalk and cheese have declared they are an item, taking their fans and even their friends by surprise.
Singer Smith "Oak'' Arayasakul and actress and DJ Panisa "Opal'' Pimpru have been going out for four months, they told the media last week, lifting the veil for the first time on their relationship which few, if any of their friends had seen coming.
Many in the industry previously assumed Mor Oak, as he is also known, is gay, while olive-skinned Opal, a regular on TV sitcoms, is usually seen dating farang.
The pair surprised their fans and friends alike last week, however, by declaring they were now officially boyfriend and girlfriend - with more in common than many first assume.
"We have actually known each other for five or six years, and while we didn't declare we were an item, nor did we try to hide anything,'' Opal said.
"We are neighbours, are about the same age, and entered the industry at about the same time.
"We present the same show together, our families and friends know, and we have even started a company together,'' she said.
Opal said that as far as she was concerned, Mor Oak - also a skin doctor by training - is all man.
"Many of my friends are gay, and if he was gay, they would have spotted it.''
Mor Oak said he and Opal both work hard, are close to family and share similar views on society.
"The more we talked, the more we understood each other. We felt better about each other over time, rather than in some excited rush, as we are both grown up now,'' Mor Oak said.
Friends of the pair say they are surprised, even shocked by the coupling.
DJ Ekachai Euasangkomset said he knows Opal well, but had no idea she was seeing Mor Oak.
"I was shocked, and am wondering if the day will come when I can get back at Opal by shocking her,'' he joked.
Ekachai said he and his friends help Opal screen the men who enter her life for signs that they might be gay.
"I reckon my gaydar is as reliable as ever, but as far as I'm concerned, Mor Oak passes the test.
"If he's gay, news would have to leak out, and we'd be bound to detect it, right?'' he said.
"Don't think ill of Opal. If she's found love and has someone to look after her, that's a good thing. We should be happy for her, and see what develops,'' he said.
Mor Oak has made a name for himself, so is unlikely to have latched on to her for the sake of publicity, he added.
Singer Pongsak "Aof'' Rattapong said he was just as surprised by news the pair were an item.
"I knew they were close, but found out at the same time as the media that they are now seeing each other,'' he said.
Asked whether Mor Oak was in fact gay, Aof said fans should let time be the judge.
"Two people in a relationship are likely to know each other well. Outsiders might be inclined to judge, but sometimes things that look surprising to us might just turn out differently than how we expect,'' he said. -

Model and actor Howard Wang has taken his mother on television to disprove claims that he is hiding behind her skirt in the ongoing row over his former girlfriend's abortion.
Taiwanese-born Howard took his mother, Julie Chu, on prime-time news last week to respond to claims that he coerced his former girlfriend, model Pilawan "Muay'' Ahreerob, into aborting their unwanted child.
Howard and Muay are facing legal action by police after Muay admitted she aborted Howard's baby in early January. She said Howard and his mother told her they did not want the child, and she felt pressured into having the procedure done.
But Howard and his mum insist they did not coerce her, and last week took their campaign to the media.
"Muay asked a friend to pass on word that she was pregnant. Around New Year, she sent a text asking if we could meet,'' Howard said.
"When I turned up, I was surprised to see her drinking beer, as she had told me she was pregnant,'' he said.
The pair had met only once since then, on the day when Muay says she had an abortion.
"Muay called to say her stomach was sore, and asked me to take her to a clinic on Sukhumvit. I assumed she was seeing the doctor about her stomach,'' he said.
Muay did not tell him she was really intending to have an abortion. In a statement to police, she has since identified the clinic in Sukhumvit Soi 12.
Police have visited the place, but say they can find no record of her having been there on Jan 5 as she claims.
"When she returned 20 minutes later, she was crying, and asked me why I wasn't prepared to raise the child as its father.
"She accused me of hiding behind my mother's skirt rather than fronting up,'' he said.
Howard said if Muay had spoken nicely, things could have turned out differently.
"I was more than happy to raise the child. But Muay did everything out of anger and spite.
"She saw me with a woman I know at work. I was also going out at night with friends, which upset her.
"After that she told the media she had been for an abortion, and revealed personal things about me. That I can handle. But what I really can't stand is that she also criticised my mother,'' Howard said.
Julie Chu denied telling Muay to end her pregnancy.
"I asked her to see a doctor to make sure, and asked them why they weren't more careful. I have never tried to interfere in my son's private life.
"Muay told us she was prepared to raise the child alone,'' she said.
Former Maxim magazine model Muay has not responded to Howard's latest remarks.
