HOWARD'S TROUBLES MOUNT, ITCH TO DANCE, FAKEBOOK

Howard, Muay
Former RS Promotion singer Howard Wang, already facing drug charges, is in trouble on a new front after a former girlfriend laid assault and illegal detention charges against him.

Model Pilawan "Muay'' Ahreerob, 28, told Huai Khwang police last week that she had asked for the return of 100,000 baht which she loaned him to secure bail on an assault matter, only for Howard to thump her left ear.

She visited doctors at Paolo Memorial Hospital, who diagnosed her with a perforated eardrum.

Muay, who lived with Howard for more than a year, visited his home on Sept 13 asking him to sign an agreement promising to return the money she lent him to secure bail on an assault case in Thong Lor.

"I was packing some things and bent down after dropping one of them. Howard thumped me on the side of my face, leaving it numb,'' she told a television show last week.

Howard, 25, called his mother for help.

She said Howard and his mother, afraid she would complain to police, detained her against her will. They finally let her go the next morning, along with Howard's hand-written agreement to return the money she had loaned him.

"He complained that I didn't trust him, and didn't trust his mother,'' she said.

"Since news of the assault came out, he has left a message on Facebook saying I am destroying his life.

"That's not true. I love Howard, but I can't stand for this. My face was still swollen three days after he hit me. My mother and elder sister, when they saw me, were furious.

"They persuaded me to go to hospital for a check-up, and lay a complaint with police,'' she said.

Muay said she has stuck by Howard during his repeated troubles with the law.

In August, police found a small stash of marijuana in his wardrobe, though Howard says he has no idea how the drugs turned up there.

Howard spent the night in jail after Drug Crime Suppression Division police raided his Huai Khwang home after suspecting it was serving as a gathering place for illicit drug parties.

They found a bag of marijuana, weighing 5.5g, hidden in a wardrobe, and a marijuana pipe.

Police say Howard initially admitted the drugs were his, but added he had long ago stopped taking drugs. In subsequent questioning, he changed his mind and said that the drugs belonged to a friend.

Prosecutors on Tuesday presented his drug case to the Bangkok South Criminal Court.

They asked judges take into account Howard's November, 2009 conviction for drink-driving, in which the court sentenced him to three months in jail and fined him 8,500 baht, suspended for two years.

Howard, who appeared before court the next day, denied the charges. The court set the next hearing for Nov 21.

Howard, former lead singer of the band Giant, was last caught with drugs about 10 years ago.

Muay said Howard's problems stemmed from youthful immaturity. After the assault complaint in Thong Lor, she transferred the 100,000 baht to his account about eight months ago to help him clear it.

"He swore to me and his mother that he would never go out drinking again, but it wasn't to be the case,'' she said.

Muay denied she was making a fuss to draw attention to herself.

"I'm not trying to leach off his fame, as he has nothing for me to leach off. He has no work, no house, no car.

"I'm the one who works, but I can't stand the sight of my boyfriend in hardship, having to rely on a motorbike, so I help him,'' she said.

Howard appeared on a television show after Muay's complaint went public.

"I pushed and shoved her, but I didn't see any blood coming from her ear,'' he said.

Howard's mother had contacted her offering to repay the 100,000 baht by the end of the month. Police say they are likely to call Howard in for questioning. -

Oom
Sexy actress Lakana "Oom'' Wathanawongsiri has an itch down there that she just can't scratch.

Oom says she is often mistaken for singer Nongphanee "Ja Turbo'' Mahadthai, whose sexy song Itchy Ear has done a roaring trade on YouTube.

The song, rich in sexual innuendo, includes scenes of her grasping her crotch.

Oom, known for her roles in erotic movies such as Brown Sugar 2, was asked last week about reports that a wealthy admirer had offered to hire her to perform dance moves to the song.

Oom replied that it had been a misunderstanding. "No one has asked me to dance to the song, as I can't dance. However, I do get plenty of calls, at all hours of the night, from people who think I'm Ja Turbo, wanting to hire me,'' she said.

"Perhaps our numbers are similar, or maybe the calls stem from a thread started at the Pantip webboard, asking which stars should dance the song.

"Some posters mentioned me, because they recall I had an itch to scratch in Brown Sugar,'' she joked.

"They reckon I could probably get up a scratch dance manoeuvre or two.

"Thank you for thinking of me, but really I can't dance. I have received 20 to 30 calls, some from Cambodia and Burma, as early as 2 or 3 in the morning.

"I am getting so many calls that my boyfriend and I have started to argue. He's wondering if I am seeing someone on the side,'' she said.

Oom is no stranger to misunderstandings arising from her sexy roles in movies.

Last month she told the media that a procurer had lined her up to have sex with a politician for 500,000 baht. She turned down the offer.

"I do sexy work, so fans assume that I'm up for it, when really I'm not,'' she told reporters. "I've never traded my body for sex.'' -

Riw
TV presenter Panrawat "Riw'' Limratanaporn says someone is cashing in on his reputation as purveyor of paranormal tales to offer astrology readings in his name.

Riw, co-presenter of Channel 7s Khon Uad Pee, complained to Crime Suppression Division police last week that someone was duping fans of his show by purporting to offer cheap star readings on his behalf.

"A member of my fanclub complained that a man claiming to work for me had left a message on Facebook offering to tell her fortune for 299 baht per reading.

"He claims I have asked him to offer readings on my behalf, as I'm too busy to do it myself. Those who agree must transfer money to his account.

"He also talked dirty to the woman, and asked to meet her,'' he said.

Riw said he never offers to tell his fans' fortunes, unless he is performing on his TV show, which presents tales of the supernatural.

"A member of my production team called the number, and pretended to be a customer. The imposter urged him not to contact me, as I am too busy, and too famous.

"He said I charge much more for a star reading, while he offers his services cheap, for just 299 baht,'' he said. Riw handed over a voice recording involving the imposter, and a bank transfer slip for 598 baht. Police are investigating.
