MARSHA AND THE FRENCHMAN, SIDA'S GROWING DEBTS, GIRLS ON FILM

Marsha and Cyril
Singing star Marsha Vadhanapanich is keeping a stiff upper lip in the face of leaked pictures allegedly showing her being intimate with a Frenchman whom she is suing for extortion.

The images, which appeared in the media last week, show a bare-breasted woman who looks like Marsha, kissing and canoodling with a man resembling Cyril Rouhani, who helped Marsha produce her latest album.

The pair share passionate kisses. To the consternation of her fans, the Marsha figure is also seated with her legs apart, with her knickers exposed; smoking; and wearing the slimmest of bikini briefs. The release of the images coincides with a campaign on the internet to resuscitate Cyril's reputation.

Cyril has started half a dozen blogs in which he posts intimate pictures of himself with Marsha, and pictures of the pair working on her album.

In May, a representative of Cyril's turned up at the Crime Suppression Division to lay a complaint against Marsha for breach of copyright.

Cyril's agent, who claimed she was laying the complaint on behalf of Cyril's label, Sony Music Europe, was suing her for 100 million baht after Marsha refused to stop distribution of her album, Alive.

However, Sony Music denied having any relationship with Cyril, and said it knew nothing about the alleged copyright breach.

Marsha responded by lodging an extortion case against Cyril, and said defamation action was likely to follow.

Marsha, her lawyer
She said Cyril contacted her late last year, offering to work as her producer. The pair registered a company, Marsha Productions, in Nonthaburi. Media reports said the pair fell in love.

The singing star admitted in May that she should have checked Cyril's credentials.

"I did not carry out any checks, because I thought he was the real thing. It was only later that people started to warn me, and I decided to stop working with Cyril. I have since lost contact with him,'' she said.

Internet searches turned up a Cyril Rouhani who is allegedly wanted on arrest warrants for fraud, in the US and Thailand.

A website, "Cyril Rouhani - Catch the Con'', asked alleged victims to come forward with details of his exploits.

Cyril is now attempting to fight back, launching blogs that show him helping Marsha on her album, entering the monkhood, working as an executive producer and visiting the Ferrari Club.

On the day the saucy images of the Marsha-like figure appeared, Marsha was filming scenes for a soap opera set in a city department store.

The scenes called on her to cry. Media outlets said that while Marsha managed to squeeze out a few tears for the cameras, she refused to talk to journalists about the leaked pictures.

A publicity officer for the production said Marsha was not yet ready to talk, but added: "Marsha is the wronged party. Whoever released these pictures is no man.''

A source told Thai Rath newspaper that Marsha was shocked by the release of the images, and would take action against whoever was responsible. -

Sida
Former actress Sida Puapimon says she has fallen victim to loan sharks, but has no intention of defrauding the celebrities from whom she borrowed money to pay back her debts.

Khao Sod newspaper on Thursday carried a front page image of a gaunt, thin looking Sida being ordained as a Buddhist nun.

She was having her head shaved before entry to the nunnery, where she hopes to recover her wits. She will serve as a nun at a mountain spot in Kanchanaburi province.

Sida, who has made few comments to the media since news of her debt dispute with actor-turned-businessman Theerasak "Kor'' Pantujariya surfaced two weeks ago, said she had no intention of shirking her responsibilities.

"I was borrowing just to survive from day to day,'' she said.

"The power to my home was cut off, as I had no money to pay the bill. Some nights it was just me and my dog, alone in the darkness.

"Two days could pass without me eating, as I had no money to buy food,'' she said.

Sida said her problems started last November, when she agreed to make a soap opera for a production company, but had to borrow to cover her expenses.

The project fell through, leaving her in debt.

She approached another two companies with proposals to make TV soaps, which also failed to go ahead.

She had to borrow more on each occasion, until she ended up owing at least one million baht to loan sharks.

"I'm paying interest of 20% a day. My principal is several hundred thousand baht, but with interest my total debt has now reached more than one million baht,'' she said.

"I was forced to sell my belongings, and mortgage my home. I called my friends, and asked them for money. But I have taken down their names. I don't intend to cheat anyone,'' she vowed. Loan sharks sent debt collectors to her home every day if she failed to pay the interest.

"They stood outside my place, threatening to do me harm. I complained to police, who would come to my place. The heavies would leave, only to return the next day.''

Meanwhile, Kor said will press ahead with legal action against Sida, even though he now knows she has no money.

Kor, who loaned more than 500,000 baht to Sida last September, has laid a police complaint against her for fraud, after she failed to pay back the money and fell out of contact with him for months.

Since going public with his worries about the fate of his money, he says another 10 performers have contacted him saying they had also loaned Sida money which she had failed to repay.

Kor, a former actor now involved in the cosmetics and fashion industry, said Sida came to him in tears, asking for money to help her make a TV soap for the JSL Global Media production company.

However, when he called the company months later after failing to hear of progress, he was told the project had been shelved.

Kor said Sida called him last week to say she was taking shelter from creditors.

"She called crying, just as she did when she asked for the loan. I had to tell her that it wasn't just me, but other people were also complaining of having lost money.

"I told her that we can't spend our lives hiding, and that we have to face up to things. I urged her to come forward and admit she had made a mistake or come up with a solution.''

Sida lost her son, actor Apichart "Aof'' Puapimon, 30, in November, 2006, to a heart attack brought on by asthma.

Kor, who was a friend of Aof for 20 years, admits that one reason he loaned Sida the money was out of pity.

"My friends tell me not to weaken, and in fact I can't afford to grow soft in the face of her tears.

"It's not a question of my being heard-hearted. The only way forward is to do what's right, which is pursue the police complaint,'' he said. -

Ja, her admirer
Presenter Ratchadaporn "Ja'' Anakamani gave a man taking naughty videos a run for his money when she grabbed away his camera on a busy street and asked security guards to hold him.

Ja, also known as Daow Krajai, was walking in Silom Soi 5 on Tuesday when a young woman pulled her over and told her a man had just taken sneaky videos of Ja's underwear.

The woman pointed to a man with his left hand in a bandage, and his right hand holding a small video camera. Ja said she strode over to the man and snatched the camera from his hand.

"I found pictures of myself there, so I demanded to see his ID card. I also called over members of my camera crew and security guards from a local bank to hold him,'' she told Thung Mahamek police, where she laid a complaint.

The man, identified as Paphan Hitaphan, 47, a driver of Muang district, allegedly told police that he had just dropped off his boss nearby and was wandering around with his camera, poking it up women's skirts when they weren't looking.

He bought the camera second-hand about two months ago, and taken furtive footage of 10 other women. When at home alone, he would watch the videos until he grew bored, when he would delete them.

Newspaper reports said Mr Paphan resorted to such illicit video thrills even though he was married with a teenage daughter. Police charged him with causing embarrassment to others with lewd acts, fined him 500 baht and released him.
