Golf, his mother Prasai and father Pichet say the dispute stemmed from a lack of communication. Each hurried to take the blame for the misunderstanding when the threesome went before the media on Friday night.
The press conference at music label Grammy Entertainment's headquarters ended with Golf embracing his mother after both shed tears as they apologised for upsetting the other.

The family trio called in reporters after Mrs Prasai gave an interview to TV Pool magazine saying she and her son had not spoken in almost six months.
She believed, mistakenly, that Golf had left home to live with Dew.
Golf said on Friday that he rents a place alone, close to his music school and work.
"I made the move to cut down on travel time and for the sake of convenience, but consulted Papa only, not Mama,'' he said.
Mr Pichet told his wife that Golf was moving out, just as she was about to board a plane for a one-month trip to Australia.
By the time she returned to Bangkok, she felt deeply upset.
Golf said he knew his mother would be angry, so didn't dare talk to her.
However, he kept in touch with his father during the six months he was away from home, and asked if his mother was feeling better yet.
Mr Pichet said he should have explained Golf's decision to leave home more sensitively, but "like a typical man'' thought such dramas of the heart were unimportant.
"We lead busy lives. I travel overseas often for work. But we have taken a lesson from this episode. We will spend more time together as a family, and hope to meet each other for a meal at least once a week,'' he said.
Golf has agreed that, whenever he is not busy with work or study, he will come home to visit his family.
Mrs Prasai admits she feels upset easily and likes to score victories against her children when disputes arise.
Golf was scared to tell his mother in case they started arguing. Mr Pichet told his son to concentrate on work, and let him worry about his mother.
They declined comment on Dew's role in the dispute. In her comments to TV Pool, Mrs Prasai said she believed Golf had left home to live with her, after she raised objections to the relationship.
"He felt uncomfortable at home, so he packed up his clothes and moved out,'' she said.
"He doesn't call to see how I am, and meanwhile tells reporters what a good person Dew is,'' she said.
"I don't dislike her. But I don't see why I should be painted as the villain of the piece.''
She was visiting a city department store with her husband one day when she spotted Golf with Dew and her family. "He avoided my gaze and refused to greet us or talk to me,'' she said.
Golf, formerly part of a singing duo with his younger brother Mike, recently released his first solo album, which Grammy Entertainment, his label, is busy promoting.
Grammy holds up its young stars as models for the younger generation. Asked whether he had any comment for his fans, given his status as a teen idol, Golf said: "Regard it as a lesson. Don't follow my example.'' -

An actress put up a spirited showing after a man threatened her at knifepoint in an up-market city coffee shop.
Actress Rungruedee "Helen'' Nima, 28, gave chase after a man entered the Thong Lor coffee shop where she was sitting and snatched her notebook computer.
Helen, who has laid a complaint with Thong Lor police, said a masked man walked into the True Coffee shop at the top of Thong Lor Soi 8 around 6pm on Wednesday, and made a beeline for her table.
She doesn't know why he singled her out, as other customers were in the shop.
"Give me your money!'' he demanded, holding a 15cm blade to her throat.
Three male customers heard the thief bark his order, and turned to look. The scene also attracted the attention of staff.
Helen (The Sin, The Ranger) said she was so alarmed, she screamed. "When I screamed, he panicked, and swiped my Apple notebook instead,'' she told police.
Helen said the man was thin, aged about 30, and wore his hair long, tied at the back. He arrived on a motorcycle, with a red cap pulled over his face.
"When I saw him enter I thought he might have been a messenger, and went back to playing on my notebook,'' she said.
Helen was sipping a coffee as she waited to meet a client to discuss work.
After grabbing her notebook, the thief darted out of the shop.
Helen said she jumped up and gave chase while calling on passers-by for help.
"He slipped on the footpath. I grabbed a sign from the side of the road, ready to hit him, but the thief was able to reach his bike, and took off.''
He headed down Sukhumvit Soi 31, the road where Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva lives.
A passing policeman, and three motorcycle taxi drivers also gave chase, but were unable to catch the thief. They lost him in the Sukhumvit Soi 20 area.
Thong Lor police, who say they are confident of catching their man, have asked to look at the coffee shop's security video footage. They are also inspecting footage from cameras in the prime minister's soi. -

Television presenter Kanchai "Noom'' Kamnerdploi is taking legal action against his own family after being ``iced'' from his shaved-ice confectionery business.
Noom appeared at the Criminal Court in Nonthaburi last week, where he is suing Chanya Chortyanwong, his half-sister and joint shareholder in the Ice Monster chain of franchise stores.
He has also lodged a damages claim with the civil court.
Noom, who helped found the chain of franchise stores, which originated in the Philippines, has appeared in promotions material endorsing the product.
He said the company removed his name from the share registry without telling him.
After he complained, it also removed any mention of him endorsing the chain - replacing him with a doll instead - which he took to mean that attempts at reconciliation or compromise had failed.
"I invested in the business five years ago, but have yet to make a single baht in dividends. They pay me a salary, but nothing in recognition of my shareholding, or the promotional work I do,'' he said.
"My younger brother was dumped as a shareholder before me. They appear to be picking us off one by one,'' he said.
Noom said the opposing side had asked for three rounds of talks, but they made no progress after the defendant refused his request to inspect the company's books. He has learned his lesson about the perils of going into business with family, and in future would avoid it.
The case is continuing. -

Actress Raphathorn "Ping Ping'' Eknithiset is wary of celebrity DJ "Krit'' Sripoomset, spurning his requests to visit her at home.
Ping Ping, who has been linked romantically with Krit, insists the rumours are baseless. "We are like brother and sister,'' the pair chime.
However, Ping Ping is now wondering how her "younger sister'' status squares with Krit's repeated requests, sent by BlackBerry smartphone, to visit her at her city condo.
She said she has only recently learned that the media views Krit as a ladies' man, and is wondering if he is just toying with her affections.
The pair has been linked in the media since Ping Ping's student days, when reports alleged Krit was busy supporting Ping Ping financially. They rushed to deny it, insisting they were more like kin to each other.
Ping Ping said the DJ sends her "updates'' - pictures of himself and where he's been - on her telephone.
"He also asks if he can visit me at my condo,'' she told Dara Daily magazine.
"I ask why he wants to see me at my condo if we are just brother and sister. He says he wants to avoid the media.''
Last month, pictures emerged of Krit sharing a bed with actress Premsinee "Cream'' Rattanasopa, though Krit insists it was merely a joke. "She's like my younger sister,'' he said.
Ping Ping is wondering whether she should take lessons from media sightings of Krit with other women.
"Cream has told reporters that Krit sends her similar updates, so perhaps he does this with all the women in his life,'' she said, when asked if Krit was flirting with her.
"But I dont know if he asks them if he can visit them at their condo as well.''
She said that while they can carry on as friends, her condo should stay out of bounds.
Krit has been a free man since he and former long-term love, ex-Grammy singer Marsha Vadhanapanich pulled the plug on their six-year relationship in December, amid claims that Krit's wandering eye had contributed to their split.
