STRANGE BEHAVIOUR, STILL JUST FRIENDS, MOVING ON, WRONG NUMBER, TREAD WARILY

Nicky
Former actor Nicky the Stick has come up with a new way of showing respect to the city's shrines.

Sura "Nicky'' Theerakol renowned for his nude shoots, and a self-proclaimed pariah of the industry, was lucky to escape arrest in December when security guards at a city university caught him shouting and stomping before a well-known Buddhist shrine.

The guards called police when they thought he was showing the monument disrespect.

Nicky, who fronted before the media last week to explain the incident, says he was feeling stressed when he took out his frustrations on the Uthenthawai shrine at Rajamangala University of Technology.

One report said he also hit the statue with both fists, but Nicky urges Thais not to think too much. "I wasn't showing disrespect. I suffer from bipolar disorder, and was feeling stressed.

"I am an artist anyway, so strange behaviour can be expected,'' he said.

Nicky said he set off on foot from his home in the Ratchada area to make merit at several revered spots, including the statue of King Rama V at Chulalongkorn University.

One report said Nicky shouted at the statue, stamped his feet, and spat on the ground.

He admits he used strong language with the police. "I told them to do something more useful, like catching criminals,'' he said.

Media images showed a long-haired Nicky sitting near a shrine, smoking, as a handful of police stood around, looking puzzled.

The renegade model put an end to the drama when he hopped in a taxi and headed home. He said he has not heard from the police since.

Lovebirds Mario and Koop Kip have cooled their seven-year relationship - though both insist they were never anything more than just "friends''.

Model and presenter Koop Kip last week shed tears as she confirmed speculation that her relationship with superstar Mario has stumbled, after their pairing failed to "develop''.

The pair were a regular fixture until recently, and have travelled overseas. Koop Kip, however, was putting on a brave face.

"We haven't broken up, because we were never boyfriend and girlfriend ... just friends,'' insisting "we are still friends, even now.''

So why the drama?

"Lately, we've been living our own lives and are too busy with work. We want to do things with our lives which do not include the other person.

"Am I hurt? No, I'm not hurt,'' she added, with tears welling in her eyes.

Mario, for his part, bridled at suggestions that he is now single. "We have never said we are going together, as we are just friends. Koop Kip was crying over the past,'' he said confidently, denying any third hand was involved.

"We're at an age where use of the words 'boyfriend' and 'girlfriend' is not so appropriate.

"We're working hard to save money and do not have much time for each other.''

The pair met at primary school, and have been close ever since.

The Siam Dara gossip rag says Koop Kip pulled the plug first, as a young hi-so and potential love interest has been making "friendly'' overtures.

"Mario's assertion that they were just friends has many people wondering about today's young, as they were clearly much closer than that,'' it said.

Teary Koop Kip said Mario must know by now that something has changed between them - though just what, we are not yet sure. -

Aof
A singer plans to enter the monkhood to expunge his bad luck after an accident took off his finger tip - just weeks after he was accused of being a peeping tom and a drug user.

Channarong "Aof'' Homchit, 21, a contestant in the sixth Academy Fantasia talent quest, said he lost the tip of his right-hand middle finger when it was caught in a door.

"The doctor said he couldn't stitch it back on, though there's a chance some of it might grow back. However, my finger will always be shorter than it was,'' he said.

Aof said he plans to enter the monkhood in April to improve his fortunes, as luck has not been on his side.

In January, a dishevelled, long-haired Aof narrowly escaped criminal charges after police found him with equipment for taking illegal drugs.

A woman said she found him acting suspiciously in toilets at a Thon Buri petrol station. She claimed he was taking surreptitious pictures of her while she was doing her business.

Police found nothing incriminating on Aof's BlackBerry phone. After searching his bag they found equipment for taking ice (crystal methamphetamine), though not the drug itself.

They were forced to release him after urine tests showed no traces of the drug in his blood.

His bosses at AF said they would keep a closer watch on the young man's behaviour.

However, they are happy to find work for him, as his reputation is clear in the eyes of the law.

Aof said he regards the episode as a "life lesson'', rather than any mistake on his part. However, he has since cut his hair short to make himself look more respectable. -

Cream
Singer and actress Thichacha "Cream'' Jareonpongpreecha, is being bugged by a nuisance caller again, less than 12 months after she made a previous complaint to police.

The star of the sexy movie Sin Sisters 2 on Feb 4 appealed to Wang Thonglang police, after a complaint she filed at a different station last July failed to help.

Cream said a nuisance caller started messaging her the night before, asking for sex. He also sent her a picture of a male member - a diminutive thing, according to one gossip rag - at 1am.

"I gave the phone to my manager. When he called, the person at the other end hung up,'' she said.

Cream is not sure if the caller is the same one who prompted her complaint to Chokechai police last year. That caller plagued her for nine months - up to 50 to 60 times a day - also asking for sex.

The actress said she is hoping police can make more progress this time, after her past complaint failed to find the crank caller.

"Police told me I laid the complaint at the wrong station,'' she said. -

Mod
Singer Kalaya "Mod'' Jirachaisakdecha is venturing where many women would fear to tread.

She is dating socialite Duangchalerm Yubamrung, whom she insists is a good man despite his troubles with the law - including charges that he attempted to murder an undercover policeman.
Duang
Mr Duangchalerm (aka Duang), one of three sons raised by Pheu Thai Party kingpin Chalerm, was tried for murder in 2002 but acquitted for lack of evidence amid claims that his father pulled strings to help his soon escape the law.

"He is portrayed as fierce, but the picture we see in the media is not the same,'' said the singer.

"He's actually quite shy ... sensitive, even,'' said Mod, who has been seeing Mr Duangchalerm for two months.

Mr Duangchalerm was charged with killing an undercover police officer at the Club 20 nightclub in Ratchadaphisek Road in October, 2001.

Police witnesses said he pulled a gun and shot Sgt Suvichai Rodwimud in the head at point blank range. He left a note proclaiming his innocence, but went into hiding for six months, as the army dismissed him for absence without leave.

Citing conflicting witness testimony and evidence, the court ultimately acquitted him and his elder brother Wan, who was accused of helping him escape from the pub.

Mod, however, isn't worried about the family's rocky history. "We have known each other three years, but only drawn close lately, as I was seeing someone else. He's the closest of my man friends at the moment.''

She knows Mr Duangchalerm through a friend, and has met his family. "I was nervous at first, but they made me feel at ease. They are loving and close,'' she said.

Mr Duangchalerm vowed not to interfere when he discovered that Mod, in the early phases of their friendship, was seeing another man.

Now that she is unattached, he is showing more interest. Mr Duangchalerm, five years her senior, has yet to comment.
