NO LOVE OF MINE, MAKE AMENDS, IT'S (ALMOST) OVER, CALL IT QUITS

Keng, Ploy
A gutsy actress has lambasted a convicted bad boy performer who dared to refer to her as his former teen love.

Mathus "Keng'' Suansri, a model and occasional actor who still finds work in the industry despite a troubled past, is a danger to society, declared actress Cherman "Ploy'' Boonyasak.

"He's dangerous, and gives the industry a bad name. Journalists should avoid him.

"Why has the justice system not dealt to him ... How is such a man allowed to wander about fancy free?'' she asked.

Keng has two-sex related convictions, including one from almost three years ago when he attacked a schoolgirl. He has appealed against his five-year jail sentence, and walks free in the meantime.

His earlier conviction, when Keng was 17, stems from an attack on an actress, and was suspended owing to his age.

Ploy said she was upset the media still run items about Keng, which gives him the opportunity to find work in the industry. "He attacked an actress, and destroyed her future. He makes the industry look dirty.''

Keng provoked feisty Ploy's attack when he referred to her as a former teen love, a claim she promptly dismissed.

In a curious interview with the Siam Dara gossip rag, Keng claimed Ploy's mother had tried to shut him out of an awards ceremony because she recalled his feelings towards Ploy.

The organisers wanted to confer an award on him for being the performer who caused the most scandal over the previous 12 months.

"Ploy's mother contacted a TV programme asking me not to attend, as she doesn't want the media connecting me with Ploy,'' he said. "Ploy was my first girlfriend. I was just 14, and still have tender feelings for her.

"I decided not to attend, as her mother wants to avoid suggestions that we are still close.''

Denying she and Keng were ever an item, Ploy said they knew each other as child stars when they came together to make TV commercials. "I have no right to ban anyone from the awards,'' she added.

The nephew of a famous likay singer, Keng (Sin Sisters 2) has run into trouble since his court battles. He has faced claims that of attempting to kill a university student, detaining a promotions girl, assaulting the son of a jewellery shop owner and hitting a builder. In May last year, he admitted threatening a security guard in Pattaya with a gun.

Asked to comment on Ploy's remarks, Keng said friends had called urging him to sue, but he had decided to forgive her, as he was planning to enter the monkhood.

Keng, whose reputation as a rogue precedes him, was bundled into a van in a department store car park by uniformed men this month, giving rise to claims that he had been abducted.

Security guard witnesses, aware of his past, assumed he had been taken. Keng, who emerged unscathed from the ordeal, denied the reports, insisting the men who met him were just friends, and they were heading for a boisterous night out.

Shortly after that saga, Keng was invited on a prime-time TV show where the presenters, one of whom is a childhood friend, gave him a gentle roasting for his misdeeds. The guest took exception to a video prepared for the show featuring clips of his worst moments.

Keng may have passed up on last week's bad boy award, but last September he collected an award for social service contribution, presented by the little-known Radio and Newspaper News Organisers' Association. The choice angered Thais, who left hundreds of webboard messages attacking the decision. -

Nathan's 'victims'
The Victims of Nathan Oman troupe is appealing to the self-confessed fraudster to show some remorse.

A group of eight or so "victims'' of the disgraced former teen singer turned out in Arabian garb at an industry function last week. Their fancy dress was intended to mock Nathan for the lies he has told about his past.

Nathan, who once claimed to have landed a starring role in a desert fantasy about his life growing up in the Middle East, now admits the stories about the blockbuster Hollywood movie, and his exotic roots in Arabia, were bogus.

The group included Nathan's disaffected former manager, Anucha "Chi'' Langprasert, and Bangkok teacher Pitsamai "Maem'' Srikrabuth, whose extended family has laid charges of fraud against Nathan in Loei province, where he lived as their guest until late last year.

Chi, in flowing Arabian robes, said he had heard that Nathan, who has since returned to Bangkok, is living with a model who looks after him well.

Nathan's former victims, however, are hurting. They include Maem's aunt by marriage, Sithiporn "Mod'' Kortudomporn, who has turned to selling Thai noodles at the local market just to make ends meet, he said.

Mod has said Nathan asked her to invest in a tour company he wanted to set up. She mortgaged her home, borrowed from a local lending ring and loan sharks to raise money for the venture, which failed to go ahead.

She has lodged a complaint with police in Chiang Khan district, Loei, alleging that Nathan defrauded her of 740,000 baht. They sent his case to prosecutors, who are taking him to court.

"Where once Mod was selling just the one kind of food, now she has to sell three. Some days, she can't afford to roll out her stall because she has to dodge her creditors,'' Maem said.

The court has called Mod and Nathan for talks on Feb 25. The group of victims said they hoped Nathan would attend, as it was time to right his wrongs. -

Tanya
Businessman Peck Sunchai will have to be on his best behaviour if he wants to keep alive his marriage to actress and presenter Tanyaret "Tanya'' Engtrakul, who is ready to call it quits if he can't curb his womanising ways.

Tanya, who has been staying in the US with the couple's teenage daughter, paid a fleeting visit to Bangkok last week.

Pinky
The couple have been apart since news surfaced of Peck's affair with actress Savika "Pinky'' Chaiyadej.

This trip, the two had agreed to travel back to the US together so Peck could see their daughter Leeya. But with feelings still raw, Tanya avoided meeting Peck during her eight-day visit until the day of departure.

"We talk on BB [BlackBerry smartphone], but have yet to meet,'' she told journalists mid-week. The pair had discussed divorce, she said, but she had yet to decide which way to go.

`"f Peck opts for divorce, I can't see any problems. We will share in Leeya's upbringing, and the cost of raising her.

"The most important thing is that we are still good parents. In some respects it might be better if we were friends rather than husband and wife.''-

Annie, Poj
Outspoken director Poj Anon has offered actress Rungnapa "Annie'' Brooks a part in a movie if she withdraws a defamation case against him.

The pair met to discuss their dispute for four hours last week at the Criminal Court.

Acting for Annie, the Thon Buri section of the Lawyers' Council is suing Poj for suggesting she is a loose woman.

Poj cast doubts on Annie's claim that she gave birth to RS superstar Rattapoom "Film'' Tokongsub's son, now aged seven months. The director, who is close to Film, was upset when Annie insisted Film was the father, but refused family requests that the boy take a DNA test.

Film was widely criticised as an irresponsible dad when Annie's claim came to light. Then Poj said he had unearthed evidence that showed Film is not the father of Annie's child.

The lawyers council stepped in to help Annie, who met Poj at court for the first time last week. "We spoke openly. I told Poj what was on my mind, and he was just as forthright with me,'' Annie said.

The pair were unable to reach an agreement, and will meet again for more talks on Feb 22.

Poj, known for his slapstick kathoey comedies, offered her and her son an "appropriate'' role in one of his movies, if she withdrew her suit.

Annie said she was undecided whether to accept Poj's offer, but admitted that work offers had now dried up.

"I'm now living on my savings, and would appreciate any offers to work in television,'' she said.
