IN THE DOCK, OUT IN THE COLD, FORGIVE AND FORGET

Film, Annie
RS superstar Rattapoom "Film'' Tokongsub has upped the stakes in his paternity row, disavowing any biological tie to the seven-month old child whom an actress claims is his.

The Criminal Court in Ratchada has started hearing testimony in a case brought by Channel 3 lawyer Noppadol Likitsatjakul on Film's behalf against little-known actress Rungnapa "Annie'' Brooks.

Details of what went on between the sheets between Film and Annie filled the first day of testimony, which will come to a head in March when Film testifies personally.

Annie claimed last September that Film was the reluctant father of their child, Teekayu.

Film asked for a DNA test to prove whether he was indeed the father. Annie refused, but the request only inflamed public criticism of Film as an irresponsible dad.

Film's fledgling "inter'' career threatened to nosedive. The beleaguered superstar, admitted to hospital with a drug overdose for stress, suggested he would accept responsibility for the child regardless.

The singer's stance appears to have hardened since, judging by testimony before the court.

Mr Noppadol said Film was suing Annie after she gave an interview on Channel 3 claiming Film lacked virtue, and refused to admit responsibility for herself or their child.

He said this couldn't be the case, as Film was not the father. Film and Annie were together a month and a half, and had sex just three times, he said.

Film protected himself using the "natural'' method (withdrawal before ejaculation), he said.

The court also heard testimony by Channel 3's head of programming, who was involved in a side-drama stemming from claims that Annie was a loose woman.

In October, Film's boss, RS Promotion head Surachai "Hia Hor'' Chetchotisak, suggested Annie was seeing four men late last year at the time she supposedly fell pregnant with Film's baby.

Hia Hor's remarks - now the subject of legal action brought on Annie's behalf by the Lawyers Council's Thon Buri section - led to the resignation from Channel 3 of one of Annie's alleged four bed partners, actor Kittikoon "Joon'' Samritpansuk.

Hia Hor claimed that Annie demanded 250,000 baht from each of the four men, including Film and Joon, as hush money. If they refused to pay, she would tell the public they had fathered the child.

Giving evidence, Channel 3 programming head Somrak Narongwichai confirmed he was Hia Hor's source of information for the allegations involving Joon.

The actor had sought his advice after receiving Annie's demand.

Joon told him that he and Annie had sex, but said Annie took birth control pills. He denied he was the father, Mr Somrak told the court.

However, when the media contacted Joon after Hia Hor named him as one of Annie's sex partners, Joon denied having relations with her, and quit Channel 3.

Mr Somrak said he stands by his claims, however, as he spoke to Joon personally, before his name was dragged into the affair.

Mr Noppadol said Film had sex with Annie three times, in August and September, 2009. He stopped seeing her after he heard that she was going with other men.

When Annie claimed she was pregnant with their child, Film sought his mother's advice.

"His mother told him not to put the girl under pressure, in case she decided to have an abortion. He could always ask for a DNA test after the child was born,'' he said.

Mr Noppadol said Annie's claims on television that she had not entered a father's name on her child's birth certificate were untrue. He held a copy of the birth certificate, dated June 28, in which Film is named as the father.

Film is in the UK studying. His personal lawyer, Supan Seuahan, said he would bring his client before court to testify upon his return to Bangkok in March. The court set March 12 as the next day of hearings. -

Noom
Television presenter Kanchai "Noom'' Kamnerdploi has been "iced'' from his own shaved-ice confectionery business.

Noom, who helped found the chain of franchise stores serving iced confectionery, and whose name has appeared endorsing the product, says he found himself bounced as a shareholder by his own relatives who help run the company.

The presenter said he is contemplating court action against those responsible, and wonders if the board running the company even knows what is going on.

"I haven't interfered, but I have been having problems for the past four months. I first invested in the business four years ago, but have yet to make a single baht.

"When I ask what is happening I get strange replies.

"I lose, and customers lose if there are any problems. If the shops are dirty, people complain to me,'' he said.

"They withdrew my name as a shareholder without my consent. I never signed a thing.''

His relatives have since withdrawn his name from advertising for the franchise, but unless he gets answers soon, he may sue.

"My younger brother was dumped as a shareholder before me. They appear to be picking us off one by one,'' he added. -

When will Thais forgive and forget Pinky's dalliances with the husband of TV presenter favourite, Tanya? What's a harmless "kiss and a cuddle'', after all?

Savika "Pinky'' Chaiyadej's name has been mud since allegations about her affair with businessman Peck Sunchai - husband of actress and presenter Tanyaret "Tanya'' Engtrakul - surfaced in April.

Peck and Tanya now live on different continents, while Pinky has asked for a break from the industry while her reputation recovers.

Pinky splits her time between here and India, where she is trying to launch a Bollywood career.

With production on her first Bollywood movie now wrapped, Pinky is talking about a return to acting on Thai shores - though her old production house is in two minds on whether to have her back.

TV Scene, which makes lakorn (soap operas) for Channel 3, insists she must rehabilitate her reputation before returning to the little screen in any of its productions.

In October, when a series of sound clip recordings surfaced, reviving talk about Pinky's affair with Peck, the doe-eyed actress asked to be released from her work commitments to Channel 3.

TV Scene head Pin Nattanan Chaweewong said she would be delighted to work with Pinky, but she would have to clear her name with the public first.

"Whenever she's ready, and we're ready, we can work again. She was planning to appear in the soap Ngaoprai when she asked to take a break. She still has the opportunity to come back .. . but she no longer has a contract,'' she said.

Ratings could suffer if Thais, still angry with Pinky, refused to watch her on screen.

"If the public isn't yet ready to welcome her back, they may not follow the lakorn,'' she said.

Thankfully for Pinky, another production house is willing to leap in where TV Scene fears to tread with a job offer.

Kanata production house, where Pinky started her career as a child performer, is likely to offer the actress work in a soap opera for Channel 9.

Kanata isn't yet saying whether it has cast Pinky for its big-budget soap Ee Nao, as it wants to wait for Channel 9 to announce its programming line-up.

However, Kantana's television business division head Sasikorn Chantaset said the production house is still fond of Pinky, whom it regards almost as family.

Meanwhile, Pinky's mother has surfaced in the media to say her daughter's relationship with Peck is now on hold.

In an interview with Lisa magazine this month, Sarinya Chaiyadej said Pinky's relationship with Peck had stopped developing.

She admitted they were once close ("kissing and cuddling''), but had now cooled it off and were just friends.

Mrs Chaiyadej said she hoped Tanya and Peck would stay together. If they divorced, her daughter would get the blame.

"I have apologised to Tanya for any misunderstanding, but it wasn't Pinky who sought out Peck ... he approached her, not the other way around.

"I can't say what the future holds, but I hope Tanya and Peck carry on together,'' she said.
