A TRUE HERO, A BUSY NIGHT, THE SOULS OF BABES, BACK IN THE PINK

Noi
Eerie accounts of rotting teeth and smelly apparitions from the after life have emerged since the death on New Year's Eve of a former actor killed in a bizarre accident.

Somjet "Noi'' Sa-ard, above, 41, a former supporting actor on television also known for making X-rated video movies, was killed instantly when a giant firework he was attempting to defuse exploded in his face.

The accident occurred at a garden eatery in Rayong. Newspaper reports say diners looked to the sky, expecting to see fireworks. They heard an explosion, and when the smoke cleared, found the blood-soaked body of Noi slumped over an exploded firecracker.

Noi bought two 20cm firecrackers which he set up on stage himself. Staff had cleared away the tables and couples were starting to dance when Noi noticed that someone had quietly lit one of the firecrackers.

His wife, Wiranchana Inbird, who witnessed the accident, said Noi raced on stage to put out the fuse, as he was worried that children milling about the area could be hurt if it exploded prematurely.

She said her husband gave his life so that others could be spared from harm.

On Tuesday, she and her family revisited the restaurant to summon her husband's spirit, and invite him to come back home.

Mrs Inbird said that since leaving the entertainment industry a couple of years ago, Noi had become a father, and was helping her run a restaurant in Rayong.-

Nat
X-rated movie actress Kesarin "Nat'' Chaichalermpol (Mora, Ther Cheu Anne), who has dominated much of the coverage of Noi's death over the last week, said she was shocked to hear the news, though not surprised.

Nat and Noi once saw each other romantically, and appeared in sexy movies together.

"I had a bad dream a few nights ago in which my teeth were falling out. I took it to be a premonition that something bad would happen,'' Nat said. "However, I didn't dream it would happen to Noi, as he has only recently lost his elder brother.''

Nat, who was taking a three-day temple sojourn when she heard news of Somjet's death, said Noi's spirit may have paid her a visit the other day when she left home without wearing a Buddhist amulet.

"I took it off while showering, and forgot to put it back on. As I was leaving home, I smelt decay, like a rotting corpse. I quickly went back inside and donned the amulet,'' she said.

At Noi's funeral, his elder sister was asked how she felt about Nat's rotting corpse remarks.

"I suggest she immerse herself in her meditation, and leave the real world alone,'' she said acidly. "She is no longer part of his life. Since they split up, Nat has found a new man.'' -

Aof
A singer is lucky to escape criminal charges after police accused him of being a peeping tom and drug user - all in one night.

Channarong "Aof'' Homchit, 21, insists he was the victim of a hoax after police found equipment for taking illegal drugs in his possession.

Earlier that same night, a woman had accused him of taking surreptitious pictures of her while she was relieving herself in a public toilet.

Police from Samre station in Thon Buri took Aof in for questioning on Wednesday night after a woman said she found him inside the women's toilets of a petrol station in Thon Buri Soi 4.

She said she was doing her business when she felt as if someone was waiting outside the door. She pulled on her clothes quickly, and opened the cubicle door to find a flurried looking Aof. The woman said she called for help, and a good Samaritan held Aof until police arrived.

Police say they examined Aof's BlackBerry phone, but found no indecent pictures.

However, they said they noticed Aof behaving oddly, holding on to his shoulder bag as if he didn't want to part with it. They asked to search it, and found equipment for taking ice (crystal methamphetamine) - though not the drug itself.

Aof initially refused police requests for a urine test. However, after police plied him with water and questioned him for an hour, he agreed. Police found no trace of the drug.

The woman at the petrol station declined to press a complaint. In the absence of witnesses, police released him without charge.

Aof, contestant in the Academy Fantasia 6 talent quest, said he took his car to the petrol station for a wash. While it was being cleaned, he felt the need to relieve himself, but ended up in the women's toilets by mistake.

He doesn't know how the drug equipment found its way into his bag, but believes an ill-intentioned person placed it there to cause mischief.

True Fantasia, which runs the show, said it was baffled by the discovery, as Aof is a well-mannered young man with no history of trouble with the law.

His mother said Aof felt shattered by the ordeal, but was slowly recovering.

She and True Fantasia have promised to keep a close eye on him to make sure he is not tempted to stray. -

Poj
The souls of aborted babies are haunting the set of an upcoming horror movie, according to its director.

"By all means visit us, but try to not make it too obvious,'' said Poj Anon, in a plea to the ghosts of 2,002 dead babies which are supposedly spooking the set of his film, Sop Dek 2000 Sop.

Poj took cast and crew to make urgent merit last week at Wat Phai Ngern Chotanaram, scene of the gruesome discovery of 2,002 aborted foetuses in November.

At Poj's invitation, the souls of the aborted babies allegedly started visiting him on location, interposing themselves in scenes he is shooting.

Some cast members are uncertain whether they come bearing good will, and want to make an extra dose of merit to make sure the spirits are appeased.

Poj is making a movie about the foetus discovery for Phranakorn Film, as a sequel to its horror anthology, Tai Hong (Die a Violent Death), in which real stories drawn from the news are dramatised as entertainment.

"We held a merit making ceremony when production opened last month, in which we invited the souls of the babies to visit,'' he told reporters at the temple.

"For the first few days there was nothing, but they have been coming thick and fast ever since.''

He showed reporters two pictures where ghosts have supposedly popped up in the frame. One figure appears in the back seat of a car as actor Somchai "Tao'' Kemklat is driving. Another shrouds the face of actress Pitchanat "May'' Sakakorn.

Reactions among cast and crew are varied. Tao said he is not convinced that the apparition in the back of the car is a ghost. "It depends on your point of view,'' he said drily.

Tao said while he is a believer in supernatural phenomena, most such discoveries fail to move him, as he's there to do a job.

The film is due for release next month. -

Peuy
Sexy actress Panward "Peuy'' Hemmanee has her romantic prawn-head muncher back again.

Peuy says she has recovered from a recent lonely patch, in which she lamented the absence of her boyfriend, who performs a handy role at mealtimes of eating the heads of prawns.

On the night of her birthday on Dec 28, Peuy, alone in Hua Hin, left a soulful message on her Twitter page which led fans to believe that she and her boyfriend, actor and singer Watthisit "Tem'' Seubsuwann, had broken up.

"Before, Tem was always around to nibble the heads for me. But now there's no one here to help me any more,'' she wrote.

Her lonely prawn remark prompted an outpouring of tweets from sympathetic fans. Last week reporters caught up with Peuy, and asked if she was still seeing Tem.

"We have reconciled. He was busy with his music, and I'm a lonesome type who tends to think too much.''

Peuy said a group of fans turned up at her Hua Hin hotel shortly before midnight on the day before her birthday, so it wasn't as lonely as she feared.

That same evening she returned to Bangkok, where she was reunited with her boyfriend. While Tem had yet to buy her anything as a birthday gift, Peuy told her chief prawn-head muncher not worry.

"I don't need anything, as long as we can make time for each other. Our love is still strong, and that's enough.''
