OFF TO COURT, DONUT WIN, T-SHIRT HELL, THREE-DAY ADIEU

Annie
Actress Rungnapa "Annie'' Brook is all smiles after a court agreed to hear her defamation case against RS Promotion head Surachai "Hia Hor'' Chetchotisak, who accused her of being a loose woman.

The Criminal Court last week agreed to hear her complaint, and has called both parties for reconciliation talks in February.

In September, Hia Hor stepped into a paternity dispute between Annie and RS's highest-earning asset, superstar Rattapoom "Film'' Tokongsub.

Hia Hor
He accused Annie of seeing four men late last year at the time she supposedly fell pregnant with Film's child.

Earlier, Annie accused Film of fathering her infant son. Film insisted on a DNA test before he would accept responsibility, provoking the ire of Thais who accused him of being a reluctant dad.

Annie has refused to submit her son to a test, saying she would rather bring him up alone than accept Film's help.

The Friends of Women Foundation, and Lawyers Association in Thon Buri offered to help Annie salvage her dignity.

"I'm not interested in the money, but am doing this for my son. When he grows up, I want him to know I was a good woman.

"If these claims are allowed to go unanswered, he might have doubts,'' Annie said outside the court.

Hia Hor did not show up at Monday's four-hour hearing. However, Annie said he would have to make an appearance at the next court date, on Feb 21.

RS Promotion is busy taking court action of its own in relation to the paternity row. It is suing family values campaigner Rabiabrat Pongpanit, a former senator, who told the media at the height of the dispute that Film appeared to regard women as mere objects of sexual gratification.

"Film's behaviour was careless and promiscuous,'' said the Happy Family Association chairwoman.

Film, meanwhile, has left the monkhood after a 25-day stint in robes, and is now preparing to travel to the UK to study English for five months.

He said he wanted to apologise to everyone for causing them unhappiness.

Donut
Manasnan "Donut'' Panlertwongskul sued a travel company for taking liberties with her reputation.

Tour company Ngohpatour cited Donut's name in relation to advertising for a four-day tour to Vietnam last year.

A brochure for the 16,900 baht tour included pictures of Donut wearing a bikini, taken from a Praew magazine shoot two years ago. "Come and see Vietnam with Donut!'' it says.

Donut said the company used her name and the pictures without permission.

After giving evidence late last month, Donut said the experience - her first time in a real court, as opposed to a fake one in a TV soap - was more nerve-wracking than she expected.

On Monday, the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court decided the company had a case to answer. It awarded damages of 100,000 baht plus interest to Donut, and ordered the firm to make an apology.

Donut, who was present in court, said she was relieved the saga had finally come to an end.

"I urge all Thais who feel as if someone has trampled on their rights to take action. You don't have to take it lying down,'' she said, adding the stress of giving evidence in court was worth the bother. Donut said she would give the damages to charity. -

Nathan
Self-confessed fraudster Nathan Oman, above, is making the most of his newfound fame as Lady Gaga's bad boy, by launching his own line of T-shirts telling their wearers that they should go to hell.

Nathan, who is trying to turn over a new leaf by owning up to the lies of his busy past, declared earlier this month that a line in a Lady Gaga song, Telephone - "Lady Gaga, you have been a very bad girl!'' - inspired him to come clean.

The former singing star admitted making up stories about an exotic childhood in the Middle East. Claims that he was cast in a Hollywood blockbuster, The Prince of Red Shoe, were also untrue, he said.

In the wake of his decision to expose himself, Nathan is now launching his own brand of T-shirts on the internet.

"VERY BAD, GO TO HELL'', the message on the T-shirts reads.

Nathan last week reported to police in Chiang Khan district, Loei, to answer charges that he defrauded a local family of 700,000 baht.

The extended family of Pitsamai "Maem'' Srikrabuth, a Bangkok teacher who until recently regarded herself as Nathan's adoptive mother, laid the complaint last month.

Police issued two summons for Nathan to acknowledge the charges. They said if he did not respond to the latest one, they would seek an arrest warrant.

Nathan finally turned up on Monday, a day before the deadline, wearing a hat and dark glasses to disguise his appearance.

Police took his fingerprints, and his picture, as he stood against a board measuring his height.

The faded star admitted later that he was worried that local market traders would hear about his re-appearance in the district, where he spent eight months before his falling out with Maem's family.

When Maem and her family went before the media to accuse Nathan of fraud last month, reports appeared that Nathan had turned his back on the district.

Traders from the Chiang Khan market staged a protest after Nathan allegedly criticised residents as being addicted to gambling.

Nathan denied all charges. Police were to send the file to the prosecutor yesterday. Leaving the police station, he agreed to speak to reporters, but only if they agreed to meet him out of town.

"I never criticised them as gamblers. That was all Maem's doing,'' he claimed.

Nathan said he decided to launch his own brand of T-shirts to be done with the rumours surrounding his past. -

Aum, Note
Sexy A-list star Patcharapa "Aum'' Chaichuea's boyfriend need only be out of contact with his love for three days, and it's all off.

Aum declared earlier this month that she was now single again, after her socialite boyfriend Kornwat "Note'' Chaiwirawat failed to make contact with her for three days, following a minor misunderstanding.

"I am now so single. Anyone who wants to try flirting is welcome, though he should know that I am the self-involved type,'' said Aum.

The break in talkies must have hurt, as Note's elder brother Not, who sees doe-eyed actress Chompoo "Araya'' Hargate, declared about the same time that they are now an item.

To add insult to injury, scurrilous rumours emerged that Note was seeing a woman on the sly in Silom. The drama came as Aum was preparing to celebrate her birthday, and the launch of her own brand of perfume.

"I'm sure there's no third hand, but the best birthday present I can give myself is to declare myself single,'' she said.

However, days after that report emerged, Note sent a bunch of flowers to Aum at a function to mark her perfume launch, and their relationship was back on track.

"I admit I was silly. We are back together, because Note is a good person. It was all just a misunderstanding,'' Aum said.

Note, who prefers to stay out of the media, characteristically said nothing. More recently, however, reports have emerged of the couple arguing at a beer garden.

Aum denies the claim, but admits they are not as lovey-dovey as they were before. Note declined to give her a birthday present. Reports that he had asked for her hand in marriage were also untrue.

"Why would we argue if we have only just come back together?'' she asked. "In any event, we would never do such a thing in public.''
