Speaking out, Mother knows best, Such a pretty boy, Moving out

Tookta, James
DJ Ubonwan ''Tookta'' Bunrort has denied before a court that she called a businesswoman friend a thief - but insists she is right to stand up for justice on behalf of herself and other victims.

Tookta went before the Criminal Court last week to give evidence in a defamation case brought against her by interior designer Pathsamapudin ''James'' Akarawongtrakun.

Crime Suppression Division police have charged mannish James _ a ''handsome woman'', to quote the Thai media _ with fraud, after she and former actress Chadaporn ''Da'' Ratanakorn complained to police.

They claimed James had saddled them with large debts by running up credit in their names. Banks and finance companies are also involved, as they want their money back.

James denies it, and is now counter-suing Tookta for defamation.

In a television interview, Tookta referred to James disparagingly as an ''18 crown'' _ a Thai word from the time of King Vajiravudh (Rama VI) _ which refers to gambling rogues who covered their bodies in crown-shaped tattoos and fleeced their victims by using canny wiles. James is upset about that remark, as she reckons she is upfront.

''They knew about the spending,'' she insisted, while adding that she had no need to resort to such petty fraud. ''I count among my relatives a Saudi Arabian prince.''

Speaking to journalists at the Criminal Court, Tookta acknowledged she had made the remark. However, she said she spoke out of honesty, rather than ill-intent.

''I spoke as a victim, to protect myself and on behalf of others. The law is there so the public can take action,'' she said.

The prosecutor, she said, was still gathering evidence in the case she had brought against James. She made more than 50 transactions, here and overseas, and evidence has to be gathered for each one, she said.

Other complainants had since come forward, alleging damages in excess of 100 million baht, she claimed.

James did not turn up, but sent her lawyer. The court has called both parties together again on Nov 30. -

Marsha
Grammy singer/model Marsha Vadhanapanich, who stripped down for a summer fashion spread, says her son can pose for naughty shoots if he wants to follow his mum's example _ as long he keeps it decent below the waist.

Marsha and her actor/model son, Nawapol ''Guy'' Lampoon, hit the catwalk at a city fashion event last week.

Marsha appears in a daring spread for Image magazine this month. The shoot included pictures of her cavorting in bed with a farang model, cuddling up to several Thai actors, and posing naked with a ribbon wrapped around her private bits.

''I posed bare-chested, but asked the farang to stand first. I approached him from behind.

''I was happy to pose with him, as I didn't know him, and he was returning to his home country soon. I would not have done the same with the Thai actors involved in the shoot, as I know them, and would feel too embarrassed,'' she said.

''As for the shots where I appear naked below the waist, they were retouched. I was wearing underwear, even though you can't see it in the final picture.''

Guy said he had no problem with his mum posing for sexy shoots. Asked if he would like to follow her example, and bare his flesh for a fashion magazine, Guy (Best Supporting Actor), said he was interested, and a few outlets had sounded him out.

Mum said she could go along with the idea. ''I wouldn't have any problem with Guy showing his flesh ... as long as his underpants do not fall 12cm below the belly-button,'' she said.

Marsha admits to screening work proposals on behalf of her son _ though, much to Guy's relief, she draws the line at screening potential girlfriends for her only child.

''Where Guy's private life is concerned, I keep out of it,'' said Marsha. -

Aon
He's a gay bondage aficionado one moment, a bare-chested ballet dancer the next.

Actor/model Sarawut ''Aon'' Martthong has donned a tutu to promote bags by a design company, barely weeks after pulling on leather for an S&M-style fashion spread.

In the January edition of Image magazine, Aon appeared in a Hannibal Lecter-style leather mask, bound at the hands and wearing a pair of black briefs, which endeared him instantly to the gay set.

His leather-clad, S&M-style spread was daring by Thai standards, though Aon claimed it had caused no problems for his career as a mainstream actor.

Aon was acting the part of an angel in a soap opera, Thewada Sathu, but he insisted the two roles weren't in conflict with each other, as few fans would follow his work that closely.

Last week, he upped his reputation for ''daring'' when, at a function promoting bags, he modelled bare-chested, wearing a white tutu, tights and ballet slippers.

Aon, who held aloft a bag as he struck various ballet-style poses (but no pirouette), appeared with half-a-dozen young women, done up as ballerinas. He also flexed his bare chest muscles, body-builder style.

Aon is used to brushes with the bold and risque. Late in 2008, he issued a teary public apology after a real-life video recording turned up of him making love to a woman friend.

He took the naughty clip on his mobile phone, which he then lost. The person who found it downloaded the clip, and copied it on to a VCD, that did a roaring trade at knock-off goods markets. -

Tak, Jay
Brassy actress/model Bongkoj ''Tak'' Khongmalai has hauled her belongings out of singer/actor Monton ''Jay'' Jira's place, but denies they fought or were ever anything more than friends.

Tak, who has a reputation for a sharp mouth, and has a history of man trouble, denied reports last year that she and Jay were an item, after one sharp-eyed observer spotted her visiting Jay's place in the dead of night.

''I went to his place to ask if I could use the internet, and seek his advice on making movies,'' she insisted.

Since then, she has been spotted leaving his place, carrying her clothes and other belongings.

Confronted with the news, Tak admitted she had left Jay's home carrying her backpack, but denies they were lovers, or had fallen out.

''We still send each other text messages every day. I know what he's doing. He gets annoyed by negative publicity in the media.

''Empty-headed news reports get him down, as he would rather focus on work,'' she said, without saying whether she was the cause of those gossipy distractions.
