KIM LETS FLY, ERK HANGS UP, PU PUCKERS UP

Jennifer Kim (and friend)
Jik
Call producer Varayuth ''Kai'' Milintajinda an old queer? No problem!

However, singer Jennifer Kim should think twice before singling out veteran actress Naowarat ''Jik'' Yuktanun as a woman of the night.

Grammy singer Kim has apologised after she called Jik an old kra-ree from the stage of an informal mini-concert. He also fired off a playful insult at Kai that night, but he doesn’t mind.

Kim, a Grammy singer with a velvety voice but a tongue made of razor wire, is known for her sharp, self-deprecating wit. She was performing at the FAKE CLUB in Or Tor Kor, a nightspot popular with gays and kathoey, when Kim spotted Jik in the crowd.

''Here I was, thinking I was the only ageing whore who turned up tonight. But I’m not!''

Kim, who is popular with the gay crowd, claims she intended the remark for everyone in the audience. Jik, who left the place soon after she heard the insult, disagrees.

Later, she told the media that Kim should show more restraint. Jokes aside, everyone has their dignity, and Kim had just trampled on hers.

Gays are normally a ribald crowd who enjoy bitchy, saucy banter on stage. However, the club’s owner, kathoey Pui, says the audience was taken aback.

About 80 gay and kathoey fans were present in the footpath bar– a crowd whom owner Pui refers to as '‘Sailor Moon'’, after the cutesy Japanese anime characters.

Too cute to take a joke? Television producer Kai was also in the audience, and like Jik felt the sharp end of Kim’s tongue.

Kim called him an old queer, and asked why the skin on his face looked so taut, his hair so thick and lustrous.

''My skin clinic looks after that,'' he replied.

'‘At your age, you’re not looking after your face – you’re staving off death,'’ joked Kim.

Contacted by the media, Kai says he didn’t object, as it was part of Kim’s rambunctious style.

However, he might still get upset if she pointed a finger in his face and slung off an insult. Jik was new to the place, so probably wasn’t used to such language, he says.

However, kathoey Pui reckons Kim could have been more circumspect in her choice of slurs.

''She could have called Jik a sophanee, even eedok – but kra-ree sounded too low,'' says Pui, commenting on Kim's choice of tasty Thai words to describe a woman of the night. She heard Kim’s banter from behind stage.

Kim’s Fake mini-concert took place two months ago, but her drama with Jik has only now surfaced.

After initially declining comment, Kim has now apologised, saying she didn't mean to single anyone out. She claims that in the crowd she did not even see Jik, who ironically is also known for a sharp tongue.

''It wasn't some hi-so function, as the media claimed. It's a small gay bar, where they sell meat balls on a stick outside. The audience likes that kind of talk. I would never use that kind of language anywhere else.

''I know how to temper my remarks to suit the occasion. However, if anyone was upset, I apologise.''

Jik, who has accepted the apology, says a performer who likes to throw around insults, even when meant in jest, should be prepared to own up when she causes offence. -

Erk
Presenter Promporn ''Erk'' Yuwawet wanted high-speed internet – but ended up with high-speed sex phone instead.

Erk says a nuisance caller has been bugging her every night for months, on a phone number which True Corporation gave her when she asked them to connect high-speed internet to her home. He asks her for sex, and tells her to take off her clothes.

The calls started two weeks after she obtained her new number – even before True’s high-speed internet service came online.

She gave the number to no one else, which makes her suspect that the nuisance caller is an ''insider'' who works for True, and calls her during quiet times at work. The calls started in late February, and have carried on ever since. It was not a random call: the man knew her name from the outset.

Erk, who has laid a complaint with Bang Plat police about the nuisance calls, says she alerted True about the problem, but has heard little since.

''I asked them for a new number, at no extra cost to myself; or to take back the old number, once again at no cost to myself. I also told them I had been getting nuisance calls, and asked them to investigate.''

The caller starts his hourly calls to her place about 7pm. He calls every hour, sometimes as late as 5am.

''He asks me for sex, to take off this, take off that. I do not reply,'’ says Erk.

''He is so persistent that sometimes I unplug the phone. When I wake, I put the jack back in again. Would you believe it? Only ten minutes will pass, and he starts calling again.'’

Erk says the calls continued even after she told the media about her secret admirer. ''He swore, talked dirty, and told me not to make such a big fuss,'' she says.

The Channel 5 presenter has now obtained the caller’s number, and police are tracking down the owner.

Erk says she fears for her safety. ''At least, if I end up dead, now you’ll know why,'' she says with a laugh. -

Pu
So, was that a gay tongue kiss, then?

Actress Priya "Pu" Suandokmai might be stuck for words if she is asked to explain the latest racy pictures of herself in a Thai gossip magazine.

Pu is pictured in a passionate kiss with a foreigner. This was no mere chance encounter, or farang-style greeting kiss, as the magazine says.

They hold on to each other’s face for support as each plants a firm kiss on the other’s mouth. Farang-style decadence, plain and simple!

The images were published by Gossip star, which earlier ran images from Pu’s Facebook of her being pawed by two farang men at a student party.

Pu came up with a novel way to explain away the early pictures. Those guys getting up close and personal were gay - so it doesn't count.

The first wave of pictures showed a farang admirer licking Pu's cheek, and another guy nestling in to her neck.

She admitted that in the eyes of polite Thai society, they did not make her look good.

However, the guys latching on to her were gay, which is not the same at all as having straight men kissing and pawing a sweet, modest Thai girl.

Pu studies in Britain, where the party pictures were taken.

The new images appear to have been taken on separate occasions, as Pu and her admirer are wearing different clothes.

In one, the long-haired farang is making such a meal of the poor girl that we can hardly see her face.

Pu has yet to respond to the latest find. However, given the intensity of the kiss pictures, it is entertaining to look at her face-saving explanation the last time the leaked pictures emerged.

"I am not really as racy as I appear in those pictures. I look surprised because I did not expect that guy to kiss my neck.

"The guy giving me the hug is a gay friend... and the other guy is his boyfriend. It's still okay to pose with girly gay friends, isn't it?"

Save it for Mum and Dad, dear Pu! -

Pinky
Actress Savika ''Pinky'' Chaiyadej has bought a 10 million baht house – but is it intended as a bridal home for her and boyfriend Atichart ''Aum'' Chumnanon?

'‘I have a boyfriend, and now a home.

''Apparently, all I need to do is buy a place, and journalists’ tongues start wagging about whether it is intended as a bridal home.

''I am just 23 – too young to be thinking about such things,'' she says.

Aum helped her choose the place, but has not bought a home of his own in the same housing estate, despite rumours to the contrary.

''However, Aum is buying a place nearby for his Dad, where Aum will also live.''

The two lovebirds can see each other often, without having to live under the same roof at all.

They can also keep those wagging tongues at bay. How modern. How face-savingly Thai!
