Fortune teller Mor Krit is fighting back in his dispute with R&;B singer Saranrat ''Lydia'' Wisutthithada after she took him to court for 50 million baht for claiming wrongly that she was pregnant.
After apologising, and attending two court-ordered conciliation sessions without success, Mor Krit has decided to take legal action of his own.
He is suing to recover his human dignity, after Lydia kept talking about their dispute in public, and refused to attend conciliation. The publicity also deprived him of half his work.
On television, Mor Krit was interviewed with his family, including his Mum, who is proving just as doughty a protector of her child as Lydia's own.
In tears, Mor Krit's mother said she had urged her son to tolerate the pressure as long as he could, but Lydia would not stop trying to curry public sympathy.
''When I see my son hurting, as his mother, I hurt 100 times more,'' she said, pleading with Thais to give her son a second chance.
Mor Krit, also in tears, held his Mum to comfort her.
''I come from a poor family. We have never been to court, or had any trouble with anyone,'' he said.
''We're still open to talks,'' added his lawyer.
In three court cases, he is seeking a total of 200 million baht against Lydia, her boyfriend, and her mother.
Mor Krit (real name, Sukrit Patumsriwiroj), is suing Lydia and boyfriend Matthew Dean jointly for defamation, and wants 100m baht in compensation.
Most intriguing, however, is his civil and criminal suits against Lydia's mother, Sansanee. Of the trio, she is the only one to face both a civil and criminal suit. Mor Krit seeks 100m baht in compensation from her, for trying to restrict his liberty.
In December, Lydia's Mum burst on to the stage at a city function where Mor Krit was speaking. Mor Krit gave her a wai and apologised for his pregnancy forecast.
Lydia's Mum, unhappy with a mere apology, also demanded that he prostrate himself at her feet.
Lydia's Mum used a crude word for feet - teen. Mor Krit seemed happy to get down on his knees nonetheless: ''Okay,'' he said - though later he denied intending to humiliate himself in the way that she demanded.
An organiser hustled him off stage before he could do the deed.
Her demand that he grovel at her ''teen'' for forgiveness curbed his liberty, the suit claims.
The courts have agreed to consider Mor Krit's suits, and set the first date for a hearing. -

Torpong Sewatam, entertainment editor for ASTV Manager - home of the PAD yellows - was hit on the head with a metal bar as he walked to work in Phra Khanong.
Like any faithful member of the anti-Thaksin brigade, Torpong has criticised the former prime minister in his day, but says the assault is more likely to stem from his job as entertainment news editor.
Torpong says many stars mistake him for ASTV-Manager's racy gossip columnist, Sor 7.
Sor 7 is a pen-name. The satirist's claims are so bold that she does not name stars directly, but refers to them obliquely by made-up names. Still, readers are in no doubt about who she means.
One recent target is playboy actor Krerkpol ''Fluke'' Masayawanit, who according to Sor 7 likes to go 'swinging' with farang. Another time, she claimed his manhood was small.
Fluke says if Sor 7 is still writing such outrageous claims by the time his son is old enough to read, he will devote his 70 million baht fortune to tracking down her identity.
He said if she had any doubts about the size of his manhood, he would be happy to show her.

He named another two victims of Sor 7's spleen: presenter Methani ''Nino'' Buranasiri, and Maya Channel gossip magazine editor Toi Akner (Kriengkrai Sakunchai).
Topong says Nino called him 15 times, and threatened to do him harm after a Sor 7 column claimed he was gay.
Family man Nino says he is educated, not some hooligan. ''I use my mouth for a living, not my fists,'' he said. He also denied threatening the journalist.
Toi Akner admits asking Torpong's bosses to stop running stories about a lawsuit he is facing. However, he denies hiring a white shirt to assault Torpong.
Torpong insists he has no say over the Sor 7 column, and claims not to know who writes it, even though he is editor.

It describes her as 45, well-educated, big-breasted, and married to a foreign envoy. She has a wicked sense of humour, and likes to speak directly. Many celebrity gossip editors have worked for her in the past.
If we are to believe what we read, her ''look nong'' (minions) include the unfortunate Torpong himself, who may have been attacked because someone mistook him for the acid-tongued columnist.
Police say a closed-circuit TV camera nearby could yield clues as to who hit him. However, his assailant could also remain as shadowy as Sor 7's identity itself.-

Two starlets are taking a former friend to court, after she released
to the media pictures of them smooching a young model.
The model himself, Chulalongkorn University student Christopher Roberts, is likely to join them in taking legal action, as he is also the victim of theft.
Last week, RS Promotions singer Mod, of the Four-Mod duo, was pictured kissing Chris, which upset her mother, and her music label bosses.
Days later, yet another leaked picture emerged, of Chris and an old flame, model Yingmaen (Mom Rachawong Mannarumas Yukol), sharing a kiss in a swimming pool.
This week, more bad news for Mod - pictures emerged of her in a lippy embrace with Chris at a department store.
Mod's bosses at RS Promotions have warned the singer against causing any more scandals. Teen stars are supposed to set an example, not neck their boyfriends in public.

At a function this week, Peuy wore a black over-the-shoulder dress which slipped to reveal part of her right breast. When journalists asked if it was deliberate, she burst into tears.
For the sake of her family and boyfriend, Peuy now promises to dress more chastly, and shed her sexy image.
It was the first time in the dress, which her manager told her was too big. ''You'll have to keep pulling it up,'' he warned.
Peuy says she takes such mini-scandals seriously. ''Sexy? - I'd rather die. A slipped dress, the same. To do it intentionally? There's no way. I take every precaution.''
But where does this leave her lead role in Bongkoj ''Tak'' Khongmalai's erotic movie, Tabeng Mahn?
Tak claims the film, overseen by producer Pracha Pinkaew for Sahamongkol Films, is a quality film, not a skin flick. It's so serious, in fact, that it won't even have a love scene.
In that case, Peuy needn't worry. Sexy? No one would dare ask that of you - not in a Thai erotic movie!
