Who is Mae Moo?

What do you fancy tonight dear, French or Thai?

Tak
Actress ''Tak'' Bongkoj is a journalist's best friend. The young woman just can't hold her tongue.

Tak, who is in a hurry to marry and have children, does not spare the feelings of the men in her life who let her down.

Recently she has called off a relationship with a wealthy Thai sharebroker. Now the Frenchman she found to replace him has gone cold on her.

Tak's utterances appear unscripted, unlike those of Thai stars under the wing of television networks, or giant promoters such as Grammy Entertainment. Those ones squirm about like worms on a hook. Tak, by contrast, speaks straight from the heart.

First, the sharebroker. Tak is unhappy with media reports which persist in linking her with former boyfriend, investor Sia ''Tong'' Kamol Ieosivikul. One gossip rag claimed that he bought her a BMW for her birthday.

Tak says that's nonsense. ''He spins this image that he is rich, but he gave me none of it, because he's as mean as you can imagine. He's also ugly. I hate him, and the mere mention of his name makes me sick,'' she said.

Tak ruled out the prospect of any ''return''.

When Tong had second thoughts about investing in a B20m movie Tak was making, her first venture as producer, Tak ended the relationship.

Since then, a report has emerged that Tak – whom the media dubs ''volcano boobs''- is still frequenting pubs where Sia Tong can be found, looking for investors in her movie project.

Sia Tong is among the top 50 players on Thailand's share market. He is also owner of a multi-million baht hire-purchase business, Mida Assets Public Co, a club called 'The Pent' in Wittayu (Wireless) Road, and Penthouse magazine - a colourful business background which accounts for his twin nicknames in the Thai media - the ''Godfather of Nude'', and the ''Godfather of HP''.

A mere few weeks after she ended her relationship with Tong, Tak rekindled a friendship with a French movie producer, who visited Bangkok recently. When Tak and Safeyeh, 30, are together, they rely on sign language to communicate, as Tak's English is poor, and her French non-existent. When he returned to his homeland, they kept in touch on the internet.

She hoped the Frenchman could help her find work in France, so she could finally go ''inter''.

Now those hopes, too, are in ruins. ''He's terrible as a boyfriend. When I am unwell, he rarely calls. He rarely shows me attention or cares. It's not like the time when we first met. I don't even want to call him my boyfriend any more,'' she said.

Tak's sharp tongue never lets her down. She sent Safeyeh a text message telling him it was better if they stayed apart. ''He started to cry. I don't understand why. It's not as if we were that close.''

The actress's matchmaker Mum is keen on grandchildren, and has introduced her to the son of one of her woman friends. He, too, failed to appeal.

Tak says the man of her dreams is soft and sensitive - someone like martial arts actor Tony Jaa.

Jaa, who professes an ability to talk to elephants, and raises them on his family farm in Surin, was a good friend, who gave her advice and encouragement. However, they were probably better as friends - so Tak's search for love continues.-

2.
Mario
Teen superstar Mario Maurer is almost sure - but not definite - that no naughty clips of him playing around with close friend, rap singer ''Koop Kip'' Sumontip Leuangthai, have popped up on the internet.

The Love of Siam actor is the latest star to be caught up in the craze for viewing leaked clips of celebrities. A survey has found that looking for star clips is one of the most popular pastimes of Thai youngsters who surf the internet. Use the internet as a learning resource? In your dreams!

Told that a leaked clip had emerged of him in the company of Koop Kip, Mario asked for a chance to see it before commenting.

The actor, 20, who recently lost his cellphone, says he has never taken video images of himself with Koop Kip, as his cellphone was too old to take anything other than still shots. Still, they could always have been filmed on someone else's cellphone...

On the internet, young fans say Mario could have been more gallant. To spare Koop Kip, Mario should have denied outright ever getting intimate with the girl.

Instead, he asked journalists to hunt out the video for him, so he could watch it for himself.

''It doesn't exist - but please let me see it first,'' he joked.

As a matter of fact, Mario has made great strides in his relationship with Koop Kip against moralistic concerns that he keep it hush-hush.

A few months ago, pictures surfaced of the pair getting close while taking a swim at Koh Samet. His mother did not approve, the media reported sternly.

At a function to mark Mother's Day - young stars have to turn out for such things - Mario's Mum underscored her concerns, saying she thought Mario should steer clear of girl troubles. ''Girls? It's not time for girls. He should focus on work first. When love is ready, it will come by itself.''

Since then she's softened her stance, giving Mario the okay to pursue his ''friendship'' with the girl. Perhaps that's just as well. Since his mother gave her blessing, Mario is being more open. According to Mario; in a recent interview, he first kissed Koop Kip when he was in fourth form. -

What's a starlet to do when she has a boyfriend, but is caught getting friendly with other men? Lie.

Veejay Pitta Na Pattalung, spotted shopping with socialite 'Songkran' Techanarong, heir to the Bonanza Khao Yai Hotel, has now called it quits with her admirer, after deciding her boyfriend was not so bad
after all.

Pitta has a boyfriend in the public service, called Aof. We don't hear much about him, but we see plenty of her other male admirers, such as Mr Songkran - and before him, ''Oak'' Shinawatra, son of the former prime minister.

Thai media caught out Pitta in a ''strawberry'' (Thai slang for fib), after she was filmed at a Bangkok department store with Songkran.

When journalists asked her about the sighting, she denied it outright. When they told her they had pictures, Pitta changed her tune.

''Oh, there was nothing to it...we just met on the upper levels of the store...''

So a denial becomes an admission.

Then Pitta fell back on that old line beloved of celebrity types keen to deny any romantic association with a so-called ''third hand''. ''We did not go out together as a couple. We went out together in a large group.''

Darling – you met him there accidentally, before attending a function at the store. You were alone, and so was he. The pictures told it all.

Flash back to when Pitta was spotted on Koh Samui with Oak Shinawatra. It all seems so familiar.

Asked whether she had been to Koh Samui, at first Pitta denied it. Then she added: ''Er...I went with a large group...Oak was included.''

Pity Aof, the regular boyfriend. After the Songkran strawberry, Pitta asked for time to assess her feelings towards both men. She went overseas, then got her teeth done.

This week, Pitta finally came out in favour of her boyfriend (round of applause). Thai media reports said she emerged from her 'cave' of introspection to say she was sticking with Aof.

She refused to discuss her feelings towards Songkran, but admitted the last few weeks had been hard.

Handily, though, Songkran says the pair was never as close as the media imagined. He spends most of his days in Khao Yai, helping his family run their hotel.

This way, Songkran also gets to save face. He was never a serious contender, because he is rarely in Bangok. Did she tell him about her decision beforehand? Either way, he emerges with his dignity intact.

And he didn't have to lie! -

Ik, Tata
Even before superstar Tata Young called off her engagement with socialite ''Prem'' Busarakamwong, reports were circulating about Tata's friendship with celebrity chief ''Ik'' Bann Boribun, whom media reports portrayed as a 'third hand' trying to break up their relationship.

She appeared on his television cooking show a few months ago. During Tata's relationship problems with Prem, Ik sent her SMS messages of support, and acted as a listening ear, as any good friend would do.

The other day, Ik also turned up at one of her concerts, but insisted he went with a group of Tata fans, not alone, and certainly not as her ''kik'' (closer than a friend, but not as close as a lover).

So wary! Asked about Ik's appearance at her concert, Tata insisted once again that they were just friends.

Ik, gallant young man that he is, said the chances of their relationship developing beyond mere friendship were ''zero per cent''. On the face of it, that might sound blunt (''Who would want to be Tata's boyfriend?''), but in fact it spares Tata further angst, as it dampens speculation.

Tata was better as a friend, he said. He didn't want to get any closer. In insisting herself that she and overseas-trained chef Ik are just friends, Tata is returning the favour. Ik is nothing if not fem-acting, and before the Tata distraction came along was busy denying rumours that he is gay.

Tata faced the same questions about her betrothed-to-be, Prem. She said she would know if Prem had a girl hidden inside, as they knew each other for four years.

Both men deny they prefer guys, of course (maybe they should be introduced?). Still, Mother Pig thinks Ik might make a better ''peuan saow'' (girlfriend) to Tata than he would make her next lover.

The two have the makings of a glorious girly friendship - if only the media would open its eyes, and its mind! -

This must be the season for leaked video clips of Thai stars.

First, there was Four-Mod, the RS Promotions duo filmed secretly at a Khon Kaen hotel last year. Then, a leaked videoclip of Channel 3 actor ''Aon'' Sarawut Martthong emerged.

Aon admitted filming himself with a woman friend on a cellphone camera. He lost the cellphone, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Since then reports have emerged that RS star ''Film'' Rattapoom stayed at the same hotel in Khon Kaen - and that yet another clip, of Grammy singer James Ruangsak, might have been taken while he, too, stayed at the Reunrom hotel. Police believe whoever filmed Four Mod in their hotel shower has done it before - whenever stars paid a visit.

Film and James claim they have nothing to lose even if a clip does come to light, as they are males, and men care less about their modesty than girls. -

6.

Champ
Television presenter ''Champ'' Peerapol Euariyakul is swatting speculation that he favours protest group People's Alliance for Democracy, after he turned up to the funerals of two PAD supporters killed in last week's clashes between police and the protest group outside parliament.

Champ, who reads sports and entertainment news, says he attended the funerals of ''Nong Bow'' Angkhana Radappanyawut and Methee Chartmontri as a Thai, rather than a newscaster or well-known figure.

He felt sad for the loss of two people who fought for their country, he said.

Champ says is conscious of the need to preserve his impartiality as a newscaster, and admits he called friends for advice before going to the funerals. However, he is confident it will not affect his work prospects.

With the government under pressure from the army to quit, PAD's fortunes appear to be rising. Expect more Thai stars to come forward, flying the PAD flag in the name of togetherness. -

Not all young stars are as worldy-wise as Mario Maurer.

Academy Fantasia 5 winner ''Nat'' Thewphaingam has just released his first music video since the show ended, to accompany a song on AF5's joint album, Me, My Dream, and My Producer.

The song is Ruu Mai (รู้ไหม), about a young man at school who secretly loves a female student friend. The video includes a saucy scene where Nat kisses the girl of his dreams.

In a video on the making of the MV, released at the same time, a woman producer shows Nat how to stand and kiss the girl.

She positions him in front of the girl, and shows him how to attach his lips to her cheek. I thought Thai teens were supposed to start early?

The MV took hours to make. The kissing scene in particular was hard to get right, said Nat. He obviously needs more practice.
