Jazz, also known as Padung Songsang, appealed to the public via social media last week to help catch his neighbour, Settawut Jirattayarangsi, 36, after he set upon victim Pornchai Deesuea, 35, with a wooden plank and ceramic flower pot, leaving him with fatal head injuries.
Jazz’s wife, Jangjit (Jang) Promyos, also chimed in with a lengthy post, accusing Mr Settawut of harassing her family and asking what could bring him to such displays of violence.
The attack took place outside Jang’s family home in soi Nimit Mai, Sai Kong Din, Klong Sam Wa on July 14. Jang’s mother employed the victim to clean machinery.
Jazz, who did not witness the incident, said that following the attack three occupants of Mr Settawut’s house dragged Pornchai’s body by the side of Jang’s family car and tried to set the vehicle alight to destroy the evidence.
The accused, Mr Settawut, later fled on his motorcycle, though in the hours following the attack handed himself in to Min Buri police. They have charged him with premeditated murder and are holding him in custody as their probe continues. Mr Settawut admitted killing Pornchai but claimed he was acting in self-defence. He said Pornchai followed him to his house and picked a fight.
Jazz said he had given a concert the night before and gone to bed at his city condo along with one of his children.
His wife called later to tell him Pornchai, who worked at their family home, had been killed in the attack in which Mr Settawut also attempted to fire a modified BB gun at the victim, without success.
He said Mr Settawut had been a constant source of annoyance for 10 years, shouting at his wife’s family across the fence, firing his weapon, speeding, and arguing with his wife. He said he would not sleep easily until his capture as he was worried about his family’s safety.
Jazz, who accompanied by his lawyer Sittra Biebangkerd laid a complaint with Min Buri police before Mr Settawut eventually handed himself in, said his aunt and housekeeper were caught in the drama when they returned from dropping off Jazz’s child at his condo. Mr Setttawut, evidently worried they were potential witnesses, thumped the side of their vehicle to persuade them to get out.
When that failed, he threw a bottle at it and what Jazz said looked like a bottle bomb. His aunt eventually fled before Mr Settawut took off on his bike.
Mr Sittra said the argument started when Mr Settawut collided with a vehicle owned by Pornchai’s friend in the soi but fled home rather than discussing the matter. The victim followed him back to ask why he fled the scene. Agitated, Mr Settawut brought out his gun but it failed to fire. After that, he attacked the victim with a plank of wood, a bottle, and the flower plot until the victim was struggling for life. Mr Sittra said the victim crawled towards Jang’s family home, but died before he could get aid.
Thanking the police and the media later for their help, Jazz said he was not trying to draw publicity to himself, but wanted to ensure justice for the victim, who was blameless but whose young child who was now left without a dad.
Meanwhile, Mr Settawut’s wife denies she was among three occupants of her home accused of dragging Pornchai’s body to the car to set it alight. She said they took the body towards Jang’s home to seek help. She said no one came out, despite their pleas. She also denied knowing the two families were at odds. The case continues.
Net idol defends honour
A net idol in strife for leaving his pregnant wife denies he abandoned her for another woman, insisting he will take responsibility for mother and child.

Tee |
The net idol, identified as Tee in the media for his pale Chinese-style looks, but who otherwise has managed to keep his name out of the press, went on TV last week to defend his name after his wife, Kanokporn “Bamee” Jitsanongchat, accused him of deserting her for another woman.
Bamee, who is seven months’ pregnant, said she had asked her younger brother Nathanan to raise the child in his name instead. She and Tee were together just two months before she fell pregnant. They married promptly but the union did not last, with the pair parting on June 1.
Tee, who has come under attack on social media for his unmanly conduct, denies he left Bamee for a guest at their wedding, Kao, who, like Bamee, he met on social media. He said he and Kao are just friends, and he was open with his wife about their friendship. Netizens had accused her of breaking up their marriage, but it wasn’t true, he said.
“Bamee and I argued constantly, and our families had to get us together to clear the air many times. Bamee objected to my going out at night, though after she fell pregnant I stopped going to bars and pubs, but would drink only with friends.
However, being pregnant, her emotions were in a volatile state and she didn’t want to be alone,” he said.
They fought two days before the wedding, and again on their wedding day itself, though Tee insisted his wife didn’t start to get jealous about Kao until after they were married.
Tee said he asked his wife to quit working and offered to support her instead. He sent her 60,000 baht last month and would carry on supporting both mother and child even if they were apart.
He admitted he had once denied the unborn child she was carrying was his own, but denies he had insisted she take a DNA test.
Tee said past lovers were stirring up trouble for the pair, with a former admirer of Kao, and an ex-lover of his own, forming a group to agitate against them.
Tee said someone had sent Bamee a fake Facebook page claiming he had been seeing Kao for a month, but that was also untrue.
“Bamee sent me the Line chats so I have all the evidence, but Bamee asked me not to make it public out of sympathy for them,” he said.
While he and Kao were tiring of the attention spurred by Bamee’s attacks, he understood her reaction. “As the mother of my unborn child, I still have a duty to defend her. I love my unborn child 100 per cent,” he said.
Baby grab spurs complaint
Former Channel 3 actress and model Selina Pearce insists she always meant to return her infant daughter to the family home of her estranged husband, who staged a daring raid on her vehicle in Phuket last week to wrest back the child.

Selina, Oak |
Selina laid a complaint with Phuket police after three men, including her husband, took her child from her car as she was leaving a Phuket restaurant.
She had earlier left Bangkok with her daughter to stay with her father on the resort island to give herself time to think.
Selina admits she did not tell her husband, property developer Disayadej “Oak” Kanokwiriyasanti, that she was leaving and blocked him on social media to stop him making contact.
He took a flight to Phuket later to talk to her father, and she and Oak also met for talks. However, they could not reach an agreement on a way forward.
Shortly after, she said her husband and two other men, including a man who turned out to be his lawyer, stopped her car as it was leaving the eatery, opened the door and removed their young daughter, Ayla, 16 months. She was in the vehicle with her nanny.
“A car parked behind me and sounded its horn, and I thought I had hit it. I also saw a man in white pointing at my car. Then a man in black opened my door; I had no time to lock it. He said ‘You abducted a child from Bangkok.’ I was confused as the only child I had with her was my daughter,” she said.
“Then the door on my nanny’s side opened and my husband took our child, who started crying in alarm. He said he was taking the child to look after himself and would see me at the police station.”
Selina said she met her husband and his lawyer there, but they did not bring Ayla. She claimed she had always meant to return their child, but her husband had misunderstood her intentions.
Hi-so Oak, as her husband is known in the media, meanwhile, claimed Selina had left the family home in Muang Thong Thani three months ago, and his family’s life had been plunged into tumult since. Police said they are investigating as to whether he should face charges.
