Phantom pregnancy strikes

A young woman who accused a teen TV star of impregnating her but refusing to own up to it says she has now lost their unborn child, though sceptical netizens are asking if she was ever pregnant at all.
Sawaphat “Mynx” Soonthornan, 23, who earlier this year cut her ties with her ex-boyfriend, Love Sick actor Cholatorn “Captain” Kongyingyong, broke the news last week in a lengthy social media post.
Mynx, who claimed she was unable to get hold of Captain to break the news, said she lost the child late in June, but did not feel obliged to tell anyone as she was not a public figure and was upset that society had already judged her. She attributes the loss to health problems, stress and overwork.
Earlier this month, countering netizens’ claims she had made the whole thing up, Mynx insisted she had signed up for pre-natal care. However, she refused to release the results of any tests.
In response to the news that Mynx is no longer pregnant, Captain’s family met their lawyer for a three-hour conference last week. They have decided to sue Mynx for damaging his reputation.
In an open letter to the media, they said: “We decided on this step to ensure justice for all sides, and also ensure the truth is revealed to the public at large, as this saga has affected us all.”
Captain’s family said Mynx never presented proof that she was pregnant, such as the results of an ultrasound test or blood test.
Both families went before the media on June 11 when news of the pregnancy leaked, with Captain stressing that he was concerned about the welfare of their unborn child, but refusing to say if he would take up with Mynx again. The two earlier parted ways after he initially failed to admit he had made her pregnant and relations between the families broke down.
Since that joint press appearance, the families have not been in touch. Mynx initially declared she would raise the child alone until Captain was old enough to “take responsibility”, and public sympathy swung behind her.
But in subsequent weeks, after Mynx failed to sign up for pre-natal care or present any proof she was indeed pregnant, public doubts began to grow.
In her social media post, Mynx said she gave herself a pregnancy test on May 25.
She had an examination at a hospital two days later, which confirmed she was pregnant.
“Initially I wanted an abortion, but when I told Captain he opposed it. After that, my pregnancy hit the news, and we went before the media.
“On June 18 I had a fever, and admitted myself to hospital. I started losing blood on June 22, and saw a doctor on June 27. He gave me an ultrasound and blood test, and said he could find no trace of the baby.”
Declaring she now wanted to forget about the whole matter and go back to life as it was, she said: “I didn’t open up about the loss of my pregnancy sooner because I was upset that society had judged me. It had decided that some day I would come out and say I was no longer carrying the child.” The case continues.
Boxer finds new love
World boxing champ Srisaket Sor Rungvisai is poised to open up about his lightning engagement to a Bangkok office worker.
Laem, Jaa Ja |
Laem, as he is also known, says he intends taking his new love, Pornpimon Sarakaew - Nong “Ja Jaa”, or Nong “Noo Lek”- 28, before the media tomorrow after images were leaked on social media last week showing the two getting engaged.
Laem, who has said little to his shocked fans since the news broke, told one media outlet late last week the pair met at a rice porridge shop as he and his friends were having a meal.
As the relationship blossomed, he took her to her hometown in Chumporn in late May and while there proposed they get engaged.
They performed a simple ceremony in front of her parents and a few friends. Laem’s own parents said they were not free to attend, as Laem’s younger brother was preparing to enter the monkhood last week.
The super flyweight title holder called them with the news, and they were happy for him, but also want him to focus on his training. Media reports said he gave her 500,000 baht and five baht weight in gold as engagement gifts, and that he had agreed on a 2 million baht dowry for her hand.
The news shocked Laem’s fans, as it is only a couple of months since the messy parting with his girlfriend of 14 years, Patchareewan “Kay” Kanha, 30.
Kay announced in late May they had parted amicably, though acrimony quickly followed amid family claims she had tried to milk him of his boxing earnings, and claims by her side that Laem was seeing another woman on the sly.
Ex-trainer Poom Mhapakansai was among those taken back by news of Laem’s lightning engagement to Ja Jaa. However, he said he had met the pair a month ago and knew they were seeing each other romantically.
Laem said he would take his betrothed to meet his parents after he defends his title in a boxing match in October. His mother, meanwhile, said she will search for an auspicious date for the marriage, which will probably take place in his home province of Si Sa Ket.
Kan takes boxer to court
Kan |
The ex-wife of rocker Sek Loso is making good on her threat to sue a celebrity boxer after he admitted he could not repay debts to her of up to 60 million baht.
Sek’s former wife, Wiphakorn ‘‘Kan’’ Sukpimai, and her lawyer lodged two cases against Apirak “Sia Po” Chatharnon with the Min Buri District Court last week seeking the return of the loan, including interest, for a gambling and boxing venture.
Sia Po |
In the first case she is suing him, his mother and his wife for fraud; in the second, Sia Po and his mother alone.
Speaking outside the court, Kan said she had asked him to return the money but he insisted he had none, even though his other debtors had all received payment. She did not elaborate.
“We signed a loan agreement every time I agreed to give him money, with his wife acting as witness,” she said.
“He has admitted publicly that he owes it, and I would like a speedy resolution. If we can’t agree in talks, I will have to get court to settle the matter.”
Sia Po and Kan, former lovers who fell out over money, traded barbs in a joint television interview in May in which the pair had to be kept apart by the host and looked close to coming to blows.
The fall-out came after Sia Po answered a distress call from her on April 27 only to find 30 Khok Kram police lying in wait for him at her Bangkok home. Police searched Sia Po and his younger assistant, found his friend was armed, and charged with pair with carrying a weapon in a public place.
Sia Po believes Kan, angry about his unpaid debts to her, lured him to the house on false pretenses. He also alleges she acted in cahoots with Wan Ubamrung, influential son of ex-politician Wanchalerm, after he and Wan fell out, again over unpaid gambling debts.
Sia Po, who broadcast his arrest live on social media, said Kan lured him to her place at 5 am claiming she was about to take her own life and was pregnant to him.
Days earlier, Sia Po’s mother had offered to transfer a 2 million baht plot of family-owned land to Kan in part-payment of her son’s debt, but the pair fell out after Kan insisted Sia Po’s side also pay the land transfer fee. The land transfer did not go ahead.
Police have been tracing Sia Po’s money trail since his arrest. They have offered no update, and the case continues.
