Bubu's boo-boo, 'A' breaks silence, faithfully yours

Tukky’s husband ‘too busy’ to see son
God, Neung
The husband of comedian Sudarat “Tukky” Butprom says he is too busy to meet the young man he fathered 17 years ago, after the youngster came to Bangkok hoping to see his dad for the first time.

The disappointed young man has now returned to the provinces empty-handed, not knowing if his father will get in touch.

Kamthorn “Bubu” Phonamkam, who owns a seafood restaurant and well-known tattoo outlet in Khao San Road, has apparently cooled on the idea of meeting his son, after earlier passing on word he was prepared to see him — though not his former wife.

Bubu’s change of heart comes after he was forced to admit he has a son by his former teen lover, Chanitha “Neung” Suweeranuwat, 34, after the pair made a public appeal through the media.

He insisted he had met his responsibilities as a dad, though admitted sending him just 3,000 baht a month following a chance meeting between his manager and Neung’s brother five years ago.

The unwanted child from his past remained a secret from the public until Neung and her son, God, 17, travelled to Bangkok from their native Chumphon province before Songkran in the hope of meeting Bubu, after the boy tried contacting him over New Year without success.

Through his manager, Bubu agreed to meet the lad but then declared he was too busy.

After failing to get anywhere with Bubu, God and his mum have now returned to Chumpon to get on with their lives.

Neung said she and Bubu met in Bangkok when she was just 17. Three months after she gave birth to God, Bubu left home in search of work to support his young family. He never returned, nor sent her any money.  She has rarely met or spoken to him since.

God admitted he was upset his father could not make time to see him.

“I am sure he’ll get in touch when he can, but mum has to go back to work. She told me there was no point in just sitting here waiting. I feel a bit deflated. We haven’t even spoken on the phone,” he told the media before leaving Bangkok.

He had asked Bubu for money via Facebook after making contact over New Year, but his father blocked him.

Meanwhile, the woman behind a popular Facebook site which brought their plight to public attention has stepped in to help Neung pay off her debts.

The admin of the Maem Pho Dam Facebook site, known as Queen, last week raised 70,000 baht to help Neung and God get back on their feet, after Bubu failed to follow through on his word.  She auctioned key rings and sweatshirts, with her fans sending money to Neung’s bank account.

Queen said she had raised enough to pay off Neung’s debts and set her up in a Bangkok market selling toasted snacks. She also had some money left over to help God, who finished Mathayom 6 last year and wants to pursue studies as a photographer.

In an online chat with Neung, Queen said she believes in helping worthy causes, but hopes the mother can stand on her own feet next time. She also had some harsh words for Bubu and his failure to help his son.

“Bubu had many ways he could pay back his love, starting from day one, by unblocking God on social media, or calling him, but chose to do nothing other than dissembling,” she wrote.

“I have now told God to stop struggling to meet his dad ... he’s inflicted too much harm on his life already.

“Let me also sound a warning to parents: even if you stop loving each other, your kids are still part of you. Don’t go pushing your obligations onto others. You were born as people, so why carry on like beasts.” Bubu has yet to comment on the developments.

Likay actor comes clean
'A' and his kids
Likay actor Chaiya “A” Mitchai has broken his silence on his private life, admitting he has two adult children who have appeared with him in likay productions, one of whom is busy making a name for herself as an actress.

A was forced to come forward after a reporter asked him about persistent rumours he had a secret family. The likay performer replied he was not ready to discuss it. In a Facebook post a day later, however, A confirmed he was father to actress and likay performer Pang Pornphatchanok, 24, who promptly welcomed the news her father had come clean.

“Today I am the happiest person on earth,” she said. “I love my dad very much.” A day after that, he admitted he also had a son, Chutiphan “Champ” Somboon, 22, who like his sister has performed likay with A, and is studying at Rangsit University.

A, who seldom talks about his private life, denied he had tried to hide the news. “Friends and fans who have followed my career closely know the truth. I simply did not want to cause bother to my family, as I want them to grow up naturally,” he said.

Reporters quickly dug up a clip of a TV interview two years ago of A with Pang, whom he introduced as a relative.

They also travelled to A’s home in Ang Thong, where neighbours said his two adult children had recently moved in with him. Reports said both children were born to a member of his fan club, now 44, who lives in Ayutthaya. Some confusion remains over the identity of the mother, with some identifying her as his present manager, and others as a millionairess from Chon Buri.

Most media attention has focused on Nong Pang, who is carving a career for herself in likay, but has also appeared in music videos and on television.

“If I am not bothering reporters too much, could I ask you to headline your stories saying Chaiya admits he has a beautiful daughter,” A wrote. Pang was recently cast in a TV series with Isan singing star Kong Huayrai. A said he plans to take his family before the media on May 8.

Rusameekae plans to marry lover
Rusameekae
Sharp-tongued actor Rusameekae Fagerlund says his long-term Swedish love knows he still has an eye for the men but understands he is faithful in his heart.

Rusameekae, 30, who came to fame in the TV series Club Friday to be Continued, is a Thai-American born in Phuket.

The actor plans to marry his Swedish love, Jonas Palmberg, 44, in September after a 10-year coupling. The two had discussed marriage a couple of years ago but it came to nothing.

“We talked about marriage before I moved back to Thailand but I found work first, so it didn’t happen then,” he said. Rusameekae, who has spent most of his adult life in Sweden, moved there at the age of 10 when his mother remarried.

The actor said he realises he and his partner will have to live separately, as Jonas, a legal adviser to a bank, has work and family in Sweden. Rusameekae said his own parents still live there but his career in Bangkok has taken off.

“In all the time we have been together, he has never washed his clothes or done the dishes, as I do everything for him. He is visiting Bangkok this week. When he comes I urge him to bring friends in case I am too busy to look after him,” he said.

“After we are married I will have to see if work adds anything to my life. If it does, I would ask to carry on with it.
“But if Jonas had to move here, I am not sure he could adapt. It’s better if we carry on separately. We are together based on understanding.”

Rusameekae said his initial assumptions about the relationship had to change. He had scaled down his ambitions in the interests of making it work.

“I wanted kids initially, but as a person of the third gender there are some things I cannot change. I have looked after my sister’s child; I am not sure I could stand the constant worry,” he said.

“Five or six years ago, I thought I was a princess. I wanted Jonas to get down on bended knee, but I found my boyfriend is not that type. I thought marriage wouldn’t happen. But after he sent me a picture of a wedding ring we had chosen, I said OK. Two years ago, we chose a ring together but couldn’t get it cut in time as I had to fly back, so we put it off.

“My boyfriend knows I like to be outlandish, but underneath I love just the one guy. Love for me is about tolerance, and taking care of each other ... that’s what has kept us going so long.”
