FEIGNING FAINT? ONE FOR THE ROAD DRUNKS, STORMY STATUS UPDATE

Ploy
Feisty actress Chermarn "Ploy'' Boonyasak, above, is brushing off concerns about her health after she fainted twice at a city function last week.

Ploy, looking startlingly thin, was one of five beauties taking part in a function for Lux at Centrepoint Studio on Sukhumvit Road.

She had just left the stage and was making her way towards reporters when she collapsed. Several organisers helped arrest her fall.

A small crowd gathered as Ploy's manager quickly handed her a menthol inhalant to help her recover her composure.

Speaking later to reporters, Ploy said she was suffering from overwork and needed rest.

"I can't say much as I'm really sick. The doctor says I have a sinus infection. My nasal cavity is infected, and I have a sore throat,'' she said.

"The doctor wants me to rest, but I have no time. When this function finishes I'm going overseas to work. I've raced around several functions already today.''

Ploy said she had suffered a sore throat for two weeks, and had not eaten for hours.

Asked whether her actor boyfriend, Navin "Tar'' Yavapolkul, who is also a doctor, had recommended she work less and rest more, Ploy replied: "He has nothing to do with this, kha.''

The Manager newspaper said that as she made her way to leave, she collapsed again. She managed to leave the function without further fuss.

In September last year, Ploy was embroiled in a messy dispute with an event organiser over an unpaid appearance fee that triggered a Revenue Department inquiry into her taxes. Ploy made a tearful apology after calling the organiser a "mangy foul-mouthed dog''.

Some netizens have yet to forgive her for the tax affair, in which she appeared to pull rank on the Revenue Department.

"It looked staged for the reporters,'' said one critic, referring to her faint.

"It's the most elegant faint I have ever seen ... most people crumple in a heap on the floor!'' said another.

"Did you faint in shock at seeing the taxman?'' another poster quipped. -

Tai Chernyim
Comedian Kanin "Tai Chernyim'' Nakpong says Thais pulled over for drink-driving should just own up to it.

The Channel 3 funny man is belatedly preaching a road safety message after a city court last week sentenced him to a suspended jail term for driving over the limit.

"Thais who drink and drive should own up to the offence, or they will end up in court just like me,'' he said.

Tai was forced to spend a night in the Wang Thonglang police cells on Wednesday after officers caught him weaving about drunkenly at the entrance to the Ram Intra expressway.

Officers caught him at a traffic checkpoint on the Rama IX-Praditmanutham Road intersection at 3am.

When Tai spotted the checkpoint, he tried to drive around it, but police managed to pull him over.

TV3 news ran a clip of Tai remonstrating with checkpoint officers as he refused to take their Breathalyser test, and pleading for the special treatment which he now says he was wrong to seek.

"I won't take the test, because it will show I am over the limit for sure,'' he said.

"But I didn't drink it because I wanted that much. Someone else paid me to drink!'' he added.

"When you are over the limit, you might want to look at the state you are in,'' ventured a brave checkpoint officer.

"I've filmed many lakorn in this district, and done favours for seniors at your police station,'' Tai retorted.

"Can I not ask you to let me off this once? Whether it's morning or night, I still won't take your test.

Wang Thonglang police took Tai to the station, where he again refused to submit to their request. Officers say he finally took the test about 20 minutes later when the media started to show up.

The breath test revealed Tai was more than three times over the legal limit.

"I had just left a bar nearby. A customer dared me to drink a whole glass of straight alcohol for 2,000 baht. I did it, because I needed the money,'' he said.

He did not have money to pay a fine, and asked police to let him go rather than keep him in the cells. They refused.

The Criminal Court at Ratchada sentenced him to two months in jail, suspended for a year, and fined him 5,500 baht.

He must also report to probation officers four times, and perform 24 hours of community service. -

Dome, Kusjung
Actor and DJ Pakorn "Dome'' Lum and his girlfriend, TV presenter and actress Jirantanin "Kusjung'' Pitakporntrakul have taken to Instagram to complain about their relationship, stoking rumours the two are again headed for the rocks.

"How would you feel if you had devoted a year of your life to loving someone, only to find the other party only feels half of what you do?'' Dome asked on Instagram, adding he regretted putting in so much effort, as he could never get that precious time back.

Kusjung has since responded in a terser vein. "I should forgive anyone who is bad to me, but why should I trust him again?'' she said.

Contacted by the Siam Dara gossip rag, Dome declined to comment further, referring journalists to his Instagram comments.

Dome and Kusjung broke up last October amid reports that Dome, known for his angelic good looks and eye for the women, had started to stray.

Reports emerged of his fondness for actress Davika "Mai'' Horne, with whom he appeared in a Channel 7 soap.

An unkind party posted an excerpt of an Instagram exchange between Dome and Mai on the internet, in which Dome asked the actress out for a meal, and proclaimed: "I miss you.''

Kusjung dumped Dome soon after, though the pair eventually made up and gave it another go. Kusjung has not commented on the most recent breakup rumours.
