Nat |
Nat was driving along Laem Mae Pim beach road in Rayong on Wednesday afternoon when he says a motorcycle appeared before him suddenly. He failed to brake in time, and struck the back of the bike.
The driver, Aphiwat Kuanha, 34, plunged through his windscreen, breaking his ribs and one arm. Doctors say he will need an operation. The Mercedes incurred minor damage, while Mr Aphiwat's motorbike was cut in two.
Nat, who was uninjured, spoke to police at the scene. He called the victim's father, offering to pay all medical bills, and visited Mr Aphiwat at Rayong Hospital.
"I had just left the set of my soap opera on my lunch break, and was travelling about 80kph,'' Nat told reporters on Friday.
"The road was clear, when suddenly the motorbike appeared.
"I did not flee the scene, but stayed and attended to the victim. I asked onlookers to call an ambulance, and watched over him to make sure he was OK,'' Nat said.
"I asked to visit the victim as soon as possible. Aphiwat appeared happy to see me, and said he was relieved I had not abandoned him.
"It was an accident rather than the result of carelessness,'' he said.
Nat made an initial withdrawal of 10,000 baht to cover Mr Aphiwat's medical costs.
The actor, who describes himself as a slow if infrequent driver, said he had learned his lesson and would quit driving in the provinces.
Nat's half sister was involved in a horror smash on the Don Muang Tollway late last year.
Orachorn Thephasadin na Ayudhya has been charged with reckless driving causing death and injury to others and driving without a licence after the Dec 27 crash left nine dead and several injured.
The car she was driving was involved in a collision with a passenger van, which crashed into a barrier near the Bang Khen exit, throwing passengers from the vehicle.
Police, who are investigating the accident involving Nat, have not said if he will face charges. -

Dome's mum |
Ratanaporn "Mam'' Koopirom says she has seen news reports about her son dating TV presenter and actress Jirantanin "Kusjung'' Pitakporntrakul.
Mrs Koopirom says while she has yet to discuss the matter with Dome, 32, she says neither side should rush into declaring themselves a romantic item.
"I don't know how the girl's parents feel, but I imagine they are keen for the pair to get to know each other first. It's too early for the girlfriend phase, as she's just 19. The parents probably wouldn't want her dating anyone until she was at least 20,'' said Mrs Koopirom, when asked about her son's relationship.
Dome, a notorious ladies man, earlier this month admitted he was going out with Kusjung, after pictures of the pair shopping and at a seaside outing appeared in the media.
Mrs Koopirom said she was worried about her son's romantic entanglements, as she wanted him to meet someone who was compatible in terms of career, age and social standing.
"He doesn't seek my advice on such things, and I won't interfere. For the most part I merely show understanding.
"However, I am not worried about his prospects of marriage, as he's already in his thirties, and is old enough to make his own mistakes,'' she laughed.
"As for children, Dome is worried he would not be able to make the sacrifices needed to raise a child, and asked if I'd be upset if he is unable to give me grandchildren.
"I told him not to worry. If he has kids one day, that's great. If he chooses not to have a family, I don't mind,'' she said.
Kusjung, meanwhile, says the pair started talking to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend three weeks after they met.
"I admit it's fast, but when we talk, we just click,'' she said. Dome was her first boyfriend, and it was too early to tell where it would end up.
"During the floods, work for entertainers dropped off, and Dome had more time to spend with me. Our homes are close together, and we met almost every day,'' she said.
Dome's fans were unkind about the relationship, accusing her of coming on too strong. But Kusjung said that was to be expected, as they had been going out only a short time.
She denies seeing Dome because she seeks fame, as she was working in the industry before she met him.
"He's not my boyfriend just because he's Dome. I knew one day that if I had a boyfriend, he would have to be older. He would also have to be a friend. Dome is so much older than me, so I feel safe with him,'' she said.
Denying criticism that he treats women as mere playthings, Dome said his relationships are in fact based on respect. -

Actor and singer Patiparn "Mos'' Pataweekarn is reviewing his plans to have a one-child family after an ultrasound test on the child his wife is carrying turned out to be a girl rather than the boy he wanted.
Mos said he had long hoped for a boy and felt disappointed when the doctor told he and his wife Duangporn "Game'' Luekitinan last week that she was in fact carrying a girl.
"I have asked Game whether we should have another child, and we have decided to see how the first one goes first,'' he told the Manager newspaper.
Game is due to give birth on June 6. "Initially we planned to have just the one, but we may have to have another, as my line has no males in the family.''
On a flight to Chiang Mai recently, Game started bleeding heavily. The couple discovered she was carrying twins, and one had miscarried. The other survived, and Mos says ultrasound tests reveal all is well.
"If we are not careful we could have three children, and still have no boys. We might have to resort to sex selection methods, though my preference is to let nature take its course,'' he said. -

"I don't know whose breasts they are, but they are not mine,'' she said, commenting on her photographic spread for the magazine, which she says was touched up.
"They showed me the pictures before they were published, as we agreed, but when I asked them to drop the changes, they refused,'' she said.
"They insisted the touched-up photos looked better, but when I see a woman looking that big, I don't think they look beautiful at all,'' she complained.
Her family was upset about the pictures, but rather than take legal action as some had suggested, she would simply refuse to work with the magazine again.
